hi!
"gzip -dc gsnmp-0.1.0.tar.gz |tar xvf -" gives me the follwing output:
:gzip: gsnmp-0.1.0.tar.gz: invalid compressed data--format violated :tar: Unexpected EOF on archive file :tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
also i noticed, during configure there should be a directory called 'iana' which isnt there either. the file is 1377580 bytes both on the ftp-server and local.

Interesting. I just untarred the same file without problems, the iana directory is there and I could also build the whole package. Since gzip tells you that it found "invalid compressed data", I guess your copy is not the same as the copy on the server. The md5sum of the file on the server is:
8e910e036166dc48ef19ca79211eba26 gsnmp-0.1.0.tar.gz

Hi Fredo, just a lurker, but I would suspect you have downloaded the file via mozilla/netscape and it has uncompressed the file for you.
on a side note, I was wondering if there was a guide on how to install a custom MIB (in my case a alteon load balancer) into scli. the mii2c tool you mentioned on your site complained very heavily about it. I can forward you the mib if it helps
Regards Ian

What is mii2c? Scli uses smidump (part of the libsmi package) to generate C manager stubs from MIBs. And once you have the stubs, someone needs to write some C code to add a bunch of useful commands to the scli interpreter which turns the data delivered through the stub functions into something useful. See the LISA paper for details and examples.
