Hi,
you can now find Linux RPMS packages of stools 0.1.12 on our ftp server: ftp://ftp.ibr.cs.tu-bs.de/pub/local/stools/rpms/
If you have any problems with these files, please let me know.

I have packaged stools for Debian as well, you can find it in the unstable (`sid') tree of Debian on a mirror near you.
BTW I had to rename the stop and scli binaries to snmp-top and snmp-cli because of a naming conflict (there already was a /usr/bin/stop in another package). If you have a better name or other suggestions, please let me know.
cheers, Remco.

Great.

Who is using stop? Of ourse, if stop really does not work, then we need to find a new name. But, if there is no conflict with scli, so please use it. In general, I prefer to stay away from the "snmp-" prefix.
Are there any other ideas/suggestions for a new name of stop out there?

`stop' won't work for Debian unfortunately. It is in use by some other tool called "run" (http://www.obsidian.co.za/run/) (I think the `stop' program there is used for stopping instances of programs).
I'm preparing a package with snmp-cli rerenamed to scli right now.
Are there any other ideas/suggestions for a new name of stop out there?
I found `stop' to be rather good actually (a la `ntop'). Maybe something like `nmtop' would do? (though I guess that if you don't like snmptop this isn't a good alternative).

Yes, and I doubt they will change the name. In fact, I expected problems like this since 'stop' really calls for name collisions.

Thanks.

What about `scltop' for "snmp command line top"? This name would kind of reserve the "scl" prefix for all programs contained in the stools package. I am not sure I really like this name - except that it has little probability to collide with other names. But on the other hand, the whole package could be renamed to `scltools' to resolve another issue someone raised with one of the meanings of the english word `stools'...
Any comment?
