Hi,
I am interested in writing scripts using scli (as it's much easier to understand) and I was wondering how best use the tool.
I know I can do this :
echo "cmd" | scli <host> <community>
Also is it possible to customize the columns output in the commands like "show interface info" to select fields from the detail view, such as the date of the last change.
What would also be useful would be for scli to have an embedded scripting facility so that you couls poll and test properties and then execute a command.
Comments wellcome, particulalry if I am barking up the wrong tree and there is a better way :)
Regards, Andrew

No. Scli at the moment shows whatever the implementor of a command finally found useful. For scripting purposes, you really like to use the XML mode where scli spits out the information in XML which is then easy and unambiguous to parse. Not all commands currently work in XML mode - but that is easy to fix. (In fact, I am considering to generate the "normal" output from the XML output in future releases - so the syntax for human consumption might change.)

Not really. I believe it is easier to embed scli into existing languages. I have a fair amount of Tcl/SNMP experience and I do not want to go back there...
