CALL FOR PAPERS: WCAN '07 (3rd Workshop on Cryptography for Ad hoc Networks)
A Satellite Workshop of the 34th International Colloquium on Automata,
Languages and Programming (ICALP 2007)
Date: July 8th, 2007
Location: Wroclaw, Poland
Web page: www.argreenhouse.com/society/wcan07/wcan07page.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
Workshop Theme and Motivations:
Wireless ad hoc networks are today receiving much attention for military,
commercial
and civilian applications, thus becoming a challenging area in security
research.
The security research community has mainly focused on securing routing and
is only
recently widening its scope of analysis. The cryptography research community
has mainly
focused on abstract models of networks like the Internet; however,
cryptographic protocols
for the Internet face serious challenges to be adapted to the ad-hoc,
partial-connectivity,
mobile, resource-constrained and infrastructureless nature of ad-hoc
networks.
The aim of this workshop is to help bridging this gap, towards a more
comprehensive
investigation of security and cryptographic tools, analysis and modeling
methodologies
over ad hoc networks, by bringing together the cryptography, network
security,
and wireless networking communities.
We seek submissions containing original research on all aspects of
cryptology that
are motivated by their applicability to ad hoc networks, including wireless,
cellular,
sensor, mesh, peer-to-peer, vehicular and RFID-based networks. Short surveys
of related
sub-areas are also encouraged. The following is a non-exhaustive list of
topics that are
of interest to this workshop, when clearly motivated by and clearly focusing
on ad hoc networks
(cryptology papers not focusing on or not describing applications to ad hoc
networks
do not fit in the workshop interest area):
Modeling of cryptographic tasks
Solutions to cryptographic tasks under party mobility
Solutions to cryptographic tasks under resource constraints
Secure routing
Bootstrapping of security associations
Distributed public-key infrastructures
Key-agreement, key-management and key-(pre)distribution
Entity authentication
Trust establishment
Privacy-enhancing technologies
Threshold cryptography
Identity-Based cryptography
Policy-based cryptography
Secure multi-party protocols
Security in distributed algorithms and protocols
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

does not
substantially duplicate work that has been previously published or is
currently being refereed
for publication in another workshop, conference or journal.
Submission Instructions: go to
https://wcan2007.research.telcordia.com/myreview/index.php?authorsInstructio
ns=1
and follow the simple instructions in there
Instructions to prepare your final version:
Papers accepted to this workshop will be published on the

Due to an overwhelming number of requests, the submission deadline
for full papers to ACM Multimedia 2007 has been extended to April 16,
2007.
Summary of Call for Papers
ACM Multimedia is seeking high-quality, original papers that will set
the standard in the field and stimulate the trends for years to come.
We encourage submissions that address a broad range of challenges in
the areas of systems and networking, content analysis, novel
applications, and user interfaces. Submissions should present
original reports of substantive new work, place the work within the
field, cite related work, and clearly indicate its innovative aspects
and contribution to the field. Papers should be prepared using the
ACM template for the conference and submitted using EDAS.
The Conference
The 15th Annual ACM International Conference on Multimedia will be
held in Augsburg, Germany, September 23-28, 2007. ACM Multimedia is
the premier technical multimedia conference attended by an
international community of researchers, practitioners, and designers
from both academia and industry. ACM MM 2007 invites your
participation, covering all aspects of multimedia computing: from
underlying technologies to applications, theoretical foundations to
experimental systems, and servers to networks to devices.

1st Int. Workshop on Multilateral/Multiuser Privacy in Pervasive Systems
(http://www.ihp-microelectronics.com/~langend/MPPS/)
collocated with
The Fourth IEEE International Conference on Mobile Ad-hoc and Sensor
Systems (MASS)
Pisa, 8 - 11 October 2007 (http://cnd.iit.cnr.it/mass2007/)
The advent of pervasive systems is going to render the precondition made by
privacy enhancing technologies researched so far inappropriate. More
precisely, in pervasive systems users are no longer interacting with one or
just a few entities. Further, sensing devices will be capable to retrieve
some data without users consent. In addition, different users may require
different settings from a pervasive system at the same time and at the same
place, so interference of users has to be solved somehow. Privacy is a hot
research topic for several years, but research that addresses privacy in
pervasive systems is still in its infancy. The goal of this workshop is to
provide a platform for presenting and discussing novel ideas to preserve
privacy in pervasive systems. We especially want to foster discussion
between scientist form industry and academia working in different fields
such as middleware platforms and low power security solutions.
Relevant TOPICS include, but are not limited to:
- Privacy related management of pervasive systems.
- Security means as key enablers for privacy for computing devices with weak
resources.
- Information flow analysis.
- Privacy aware applications.
- Privacy preserving middleware approaches.
- Balancing privacy requirements between users and users and service
providers.
- RFIDs and privacy.
Paper Submissions:
The workshop seeks original research contributions of high quality. In
addition to regular papers position papers that discuss hot topics or
future research directions, and work in progress papers presenting
interesting preliminary results are accepted. Full papers should not exceed
6 pages, and work in progress and position papers should be limited to a
maximum of 4 pages. All papers shall be formatted in standard IEEE style,
10pt, two-column pages (style files are available at
http://www.computer.org/portal/site/cscps/index.jsp). All accepted workshop
papers will appear in the MASS 2007 Proceedings published by IEEE. Please
refer to the conference web site for details on formatting and to the
workshop site for submission instructions.

POSTERS/DEMOS: The conference will include a poster/demo session to
highlight recent and on-going research, experiments, and provocative
ideas not yet published elsewhere. Poster/demo submissions will be
reviewed and summaries of accepted posters will appear in the conference
proceedings.
WORKSHOPS: Proposals for workshops are solicited. Potential workshop
organizers are requested to submit a proposal of at most 5 pages,
including a biographical sketch of each proponent, to the Workshop Chair
by September 1, 2007. Proposal evaluation will be based on the expertise
and experience of the proponents and on the relevance of the subject matter.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: All paper, poster, and workshop submissions
will be handled electronically. Please visit the conference website
http://www.mobilware.org for detailed submission requirements and
procedures.
PUBLICATION: All submitted papers and posters will be rigorously
reviewed by technical program committee members and invited reviewers.
All accepted papers and poster abstracts will be made available in the
ACM Digital Library (pending) and then be included in major article
indexing services. Extended versions of selected papers from MOBILWARE
will be published in a dedicated special issue of the Mobile Networks
and Applications (MONET) Journal.
