============================================
ACM MobiCom/MobiHoc Student Demo Competition
http://www.sigmobile.org/mobicom/2007/demos.html
============================================
Proposals for research demonstrations and exhibits are strongly
solicited. Research demonstrations should be innovate research
prototypes that show new research related to the practice of mobile
computing or wireless and mobile networking.
The set of best (roughly 10) demo proposals will be invited for
publication as extended abstracts in a special issue in the Mobile
Computing and Communications Review (MC2R).
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Architectures, protocols, and algorithms to cope with mobility,
limited bandwidth, limited power and/or intermittent connectivity
* Applications and services for mobile users
* Fundamental aspects of mobile computing and wireless networking
* Integration and interworking of wired and wireless networks
* Location-dependent applications and protocols
* Modeling, measurement and simulation aspects of mobile networks
* Mobile ad hoc and sensor networks
* Operating system and middleware support for mobile computing and
networking
* Performance of mobile and wireless networks and systems
* Security, privacy, and fault-tolerance of mobile/wireless systems
* Wireless access technologies for mobile nodes (e.g., multi-radio and
mesh systems, personal area networks)
* Implementations and experimental mobile systems
Submission Information
======================
Submit a summary of the proposed demo (maximum of 3 pages, including
figures if needed) to the Research Demo Chair (Suman Banerjee, E-mail:
sumancs.wisc.edu).
Please indicate "MobiCom/MobiHoc 2007 Research Demo Submission" as the
subject of the email. All submissions will be acknowledged.
The summary should include:
* Goals of the demo and the basic idea that it supports.
* Equipment to be used for the demo.
* Space needed.
* Setup time required.
* Additional facilities needed including power and Internet/wireless
access.
* Indicate a URL with any extra information, if needed.
* Indicate whether the demo is eligible for the student demo
competition by identifying the lead student(s) and their affiliations.
In addition to student submissions, we also solicit non-student demos
and exhibits that will be of interest to the community.

(*** NEW EXTENDED DEADLINE ***)
(*** MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION DUE: June 6, 2007 ***)
CFP for IEEE WiMOB’2007
Special Session on Mobility Models for Mobile Ad hoc
Networks, Mesh networks, Wireless networks and NEMO networks
The session is a part of the 3rd IEEE International Conference on
Wireless and Mobile Computing, Networking and Communications
“WiMob 2007”
Accepted papers will be published as regular paper in the proceedings
of WiMob 2007 and will be available in IEEE Xplore.
http://www.gel.usherbrooke.ca/WiMob2007/, which will take place in
Crowne Plaza Hotel, White Plains, New York, USA, from October 8-10, 2007.
Motivations:
Because WiMob'07 conference is focused on wireless networks and because
the performances of wireless networks are strongly linked to the
mobility models used, we propose a special session focusing only on
mobility models.
This session is focused on these kind of wireless networks:
- MANET: Mobile ad hoc networks where whole the topology is dynamic
- Mesh networks and classical wireless networks offering an
infrastructure
topologies allowing fixed and mobile Internet for the end user.
- Network Mobility (NEMO) networks offering new kind of dynamic topology
where not only the user is mobile but also the network
These kind of networks should deal with mobility: user mobility, group
mobility, etc. But, what is really mobility? how mobility influences the
performances? how to define new mobility models? etc.
Scope of the Contributions for Mobility Models in the case of MANET,
Mesh Networks, Wireless Networks and NEMO (include but are not limited
to the following):
- Performance evaluation of mobility models
- New mobility models to mimic particular behavior
- Theoretical aspects of mobility models
- Theoretical frameworks for mobility
- Mobility models based on realistic traces
- Mobility management
- Networking protocols and mobility models
- Tools for mobility models (generators, integrators to simulators,..)
- etc.
Authors are invited to submit a complete technical paper of their
original work. Maximum length for submissions is 8 double column pages
in IEEE format. The preferred submission format is PDF.
Session Chair: Fabrice Valois, INSA Lyon, France

CALL FOR PAPERS
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications
DELAY AND DISRUPTION TOLERANT WIRELESS COMMUNICATION
Modern computer communication has been developed for providing conti-
nuous end-to-end connectivity. There are, however, communication services
that are tolerant to disruptions and delay and do not require or cannot
be given continuous connectivity. It is time to consider the unconnected
network.
This issue is dedicated to communication over wireless networks with inter-
mittent connectivity due to planned or unexpected disruptions that may
result in long delays for the communicating parties. Communication dis-
ruptions occur both in infrastructure and ad-hoc wireless networks. In
both cases, it is possible that mobile nodes cooperatively forward data
for one another through their own movements. The mobility patterns of nodes
affect thereby both the speed and reliability of data forwarding. Inter-
mittent communication occurs also in sensor networks due to, e.g., energy-
saving sleep cycles, and in deep-space communication and meteor-burst
communication. The communication services that may use such intermittent
and high-delay connections are characterized by a low degree of inter-
activity, e.g., broadcasting, messaging, and data collection. Opportunistic
strategies for caching and communicating may improve the performance in
terms of reduced delay and improved probability of delivery.
This issue of J-SAC is dedicated to technologies, systems designs and
analyses that contribute to the development and understanding of delay
and disruption tolerant wireless communication systems.
Original contributions, previously unpublished and not currently under
review, are solicited in relevant areas including (but not limited to)
the following.
* Data encoding for partial and unordered delivery
* User studies of delay and disruption tolerances
* Opportunistic caching and pre-fetching for concealment of service
disruptions
* Mobility measurements, modeling and performance analysis
* Uni-, any-, and multicast routing protocols
* Congestion, flow and error control; per-hop and multi-hop solutions
* Security, privacy, authenticity and traceability of communication
* Energy saving strategies and power management
* Applications to personal communication, sensor networks, road-traffic
systems and industrial communication
Prospective authors should follow the IEEE J-SAC manuscript format
described in the Information for Authors under http://www.jsac.ucsd.edu/.
All papers should be submitted through CRP in PDF format at
http://www.read.cs.ucla.edu/jsac2007dtn, according to the following
timetable:
Submission deadline: June 17, 2007 (mandatory registration by June 1)
