A Special Issue of –Ad Hoc Networks- On “MODELS AND ALGORITHMS FOR
WIRELESS MESH NETWORKS”
The purpose of this special issue is to collect papers on cutting-edge
research about the theoretical foundations of wireless mesh networking.
Contributions are solicited within the two broad fields of performance
evaluation and algorithm design for WMNs. The submitted paper must have
a consistent analytical and theoretical flavor. Contributions with
experimental performance evaluation only fall outside the scope of the
special issue.
Topics of Interest Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
+ Throughput, capacity, and delay analysis for WMNs
+ Geometric and non-geometric models and bounds for WMNs
+ Spatial Stochastic Models for WMNs
+ Information theoretic analysis for WMNs
+ Scaling Laws for WMNs
+ Optimization models/algorithms for planning and radio resource
management in WMNs
+ Power-aware and energy-efficient algorithms for WMNs
+ Centralized/Distributed algorithms for Radio Resource Management in WMNs
+ Centralized and Distributed algorithms for network management
+ Traffic Models in WMNs
+ Complexity analysis of algorithms for WMNs
+ Clustering and cooperative strategies for WMNs

_____________
International workshop on DSRC 2010 (in conjunction with QShine2010)
The Seventh International ICST Conference on Heterogeneous Networking
for Quality, Reliability, Security and Robustness (QShine 2010)
Houston, Texas, USA
November 17-19, 2010
http://www.qshine.org/
Wireless vehicular communications and networking is a key enabling
technology for future intelligent transport systems (ITS), smart
vehicles and smart infrastructure. Dedicated Short Range Communications
(DSRC) is the only wireless technology that can potentially meet the
extremely short latency requirement for road safety messaging,
communications and control. However, DSRC is not yet fully field proven.
There are significant DSRC-related research problems that have to be
tackled before large-scale deployment. The primary objective of this

Special Issue on "Mobility in Wireless Sensor Networks"
(http://www2.aegean.gr/dgavalas/ComputerJ_SI.pdf)
Introduction:
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) offer unprecedented capabilities for
integrating sensing with computing and communication as well as for
distributed sensing, coordination and control. While WSNs have been a
subject of intensive research for about a decade, most research activities
to date focus on sensor nodes that are deployed in static, pre-determined
locations with sensor readings taken at regular intervals and with packet
forwarding that take place in multiple hops to sinks where storage and
analysis takes place. The next step for sensor networks is to handle
mobility in all possible forms. Thus we need to consider the mobility of
sinks, mobility of sensors and of actuators as well as the mobility of the
applications and their software. This extension towards represents a recent
research subject in sensor networking that opens up a new research
opportunities and challenges, and significantly expands the types of
applications for which WSNs can be used.
This Special Issue therefore aims at identifying the benefits and challenges
raised by mobility in WSNs, addressing the state of the art and advances in
this particularly promising research area. Topics of interest include (but
are not limited to):
- Sink mobility in Wireless Sensor Networks
- Actuator networks
- Mobile sensor-actuator networks
- Code mobility in Wireless Sensor Networks
- Mobile agent-based data aggregation in Wireless Sensor Networks
- Mobility issues in underwater Wireless Sensor Networks
- Mobility-assisted communication in Wireless Sensor Networks
- Topology coverage and connectivity maintenance in Wireless Sensor
Networks with mobile elements
- Mobility management in Wireless Sensor Networks
- Mobility for maximizing network lifetime in Wireless Sensor Networks
- Mobility models for sinks and actuators in Wireless Sensor Networks
- MAC protocols and QoS provisioning in Wireless Sensor Networks with
mobile elements
- Routing protocols for handling mobility
- Distributed algorithms and reasoning in Wireless Sensor Networks with
mobile elements
- Data aggregation, fusion and dissemination techniques in Wireless Sensor
Networks with mobile elements
- Synchronization and scheduling issues in Wireless Sensor Networks with
mobile elements
- Security, trust and privacy in Wireless Sensor Networks with mobile
elements
- Mobile GeoSensor Networks
- Simulation, evaluation and validation of Wireless Sensor Networks with
mobile elements
- Applications, testbeds and deployment experiences
Submission:
Submitted papers must be written in grammatically correct English and should
describe original research which is not published nor currently under review
by other journals or conferences. Paper submissions should be accompanied by
a cover letter clearly stating that the paper is meant for the "Special
Issue on Mobility in Wireless Sensor Networks", otherwise it will be handled
as normal submission. Papers should be submitted through the online
submission system: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/compj. Guidelines for
manuscript preparation can be found at http://comjnl.oxfordjournals.org/.

CALL FOR PAPERS - WONS 2011
The Eighth International Conference on
Wireless On-demand Network Systems and Services
Technically sponsored by IEEE COMSOC, IFIP, TCCC, and Euro-NF
January 26-28, 2011
Bardonecchia, Italy
http://conferenze.dei.polimi.it/wons2011/
Scope of the conference
-----------------------
As more and more users become increasingly dependent on wireless and
mobile communications, it is necessary to secure a reliable and
dependable technology support for "on-demand" services through any of
the wireless architectures that have been in development recently,
such as mesh networks, WiMax, WiFi, ad hoc networks, sensor networks,
vehicular networks, etc.
However, there are serious challenges to overcome, such as the
integration of infrastructure-based and ad hoc networks, robust
algorithms for self-organizing, reconfigurable wireless networks,
on-demand service models and their provision in a highly-volatile
interconnection environment, and smooth interoperability of
architectures.
WONS, now in its eighth edition, has established itself as a
high-quality forum to address these challenges in the context of a
workshop that is rich in intense interactions and based on innovative
contributions by experts in the field.
This announcement solicits original submissions of high-quality
research papers on "wireless on-demand networks" that provide novel
insights on protocol and network design, modeling, performance
evaluation, pricing and profitability models, QoS models and mechanisms,
practical implementations, service level aspects, and Internet
integration of wireless networks.
Topics related to all kinds of wireless on-demand networks comprise,
but are not limited to:
* Architecture and design
* Evaluation through simulations and experiments
* Modeling
* Integration and co-existence
* Social and economic aspects
* Pervasive and ubiquitous computing
* Localization and mobility management
* Security, privacy, and trust
* Novel applications and services
* Energy-efficient protocols and power management
* Implementations and testbeds
* Opportunistic, delay-tolerant, and dissemination-based protocols
* Future wireless Internet solutions
* Mobile peer-to-peer systems
* Middleware aspects
* Self-X and network management
Manuscript submissions
----------------------
Submitted papers must not have been published elsewhere and must not be
currently under review by another conference or journal. Authors are
invited to submit double-column full papers (up to 8 pages) and short
papers (up to 4 pages) as a PDF file in IEEE format with a font size no
smaller than 10pt. Short papers should present future research
directions and ongoing work with visionary, innovative ideas; accepted
short papers will populate poster sessions at the conference and will
be included in the conference proceedings. Submission implies the
willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the
paper. Conference proceedings will be included in the IEEE Xplore
library.
Paper submissions are handled by EDAS <http://edas.info/N9111>; further
submission instructions will be published on the conference web site.
Important dates
---------------
* Full Paper Submission: September 20, 2010 (extended)
* Acceptance notification: November 15, 2010
* Camera-ready due: December 13, 2010
