* SCOPE
In the recent years, cloud computing has cultivated the outsourcing of
computing resources like IT infrastructures, service platforms, and
software. With the emergence of ultra-fast 4G mobile networks and
highly-featured smartphones, tablets, and wearable computing
devices(e.g., with always growing sensing capabilities), the
prerequisites are now met for bringing cloud computing to the mobile
domain. While first commercial products are restricted to the sharing of
files, contacts, and calendars among different devices, more
sophisticated applications still have to be developed. Future
applications of mobile cloud computing will take advantage of the many
sensors available on mobile devices, enable new utilization of their
generated big data, and have an impact on almost all activities of our
social and business life, and include, but are not limited to, mobile
marketing, social networks, smart cities, health care, and business
processes.
This symposium will provide a great platform to allow researchers and
professionals in the industry to exchange their latest research results
and development activities on mobile cloud computing and services. The
primary objective is to share research ideas and results, emerging
industry technologies, and latest advances. The symposium solicits
original technical papers (full papers and position papers, see below),
not previously published and not currently under review for publication
elsewhere. Topics of interest, in particular targeted to the annual
theme, include, but are not limited to:
* TRACK 1: Mobile Cloud Computing Models, Architectures, and Platforms
- Mobile cloud computing models, infrastructures, and approaches
- Resource management, provisioning, and migration
- Mobility modeling, management and measurement techniques
- Mobility-aware cloud data/streams and associated retrieval/processing
techniques
- Mobile cloud security architectures, security policy enforcement,
service models (e.g., BYOD, secure offloading, access control, trust
platform, and e-commerce models, etc.)
- Secrecy, privacy, authentication, and integrity issues in mobile clouds

2nd International Workshop on Crowd Assisted Sensing,
Pervasive Systems and Communications
St. Louis, USA, March 27, 2015
In Conjunction with IEEE PerCom 2015
St. Louis, USA, March 23-27, 2015
********************************************************************
Dear Colleagues,
Please, find below the CfP for the 2nd International Workshop on Crowd
Assisted Sensing, Pervasive Systems and Communications (CASPer 2015),
held in conjunction with the 13th IEEE International Conference on
Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom 2015).
This call for papers and other information about the workshop
can be found at the following website:
http://casper2015.uns.ac.rs
Call for Papers
With phones in their pockets, millions of people have access to
sensing, computation, and connectivity, making it possible to harness
the power of the crowd to collect and share data about their
surroundings and experiences on a massive scale. Crowdsensing/
crowdsourcing is a novel data collection paradigm that leverages this
vast mobile sensor network, making it possible to expand the scope of
research endeavors and address civic issues without requiring the
purchase of specialized sensors or the installation and maintenance of
network infrastructure. Data collected using such applications may come
from unexpected yet interesting and valuable sources and may allow for
collecting data in previously inaccessible locations and contexts.
This new data collection paradigm introduces several research
challenges. Privacy is a primary concern for users that are
contributing sensitive or identifying data. Incentive mechanisms for
participation may be needed to encourage people to volunteer their
resources to collect data. Methods are needed for processing large-
scale, user-generated data sets into meaningful information, and for
assessing and understanding the quality of information to help guide
decision-making. Approaches that involve the crowd in such data
analysis tasks, with humans serving as a source of semantic
information, interpretation, and evaluation of crowdsensing/
crowdsourcing data, can also help to build an understanding of the
physical, computational, and socio-technical environment.
The objective of this workshop is to provide a forum for discussion,
debate, and collaboration focused on ideas, trends, techniques, and
recent advances in crowdsensing/crowdsourcing. We invite original
research contributions that advance the state of the art as well as
position papers that pose a new direction or present a controversial
point of view. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Algorithms to handle, process, and visualize large-scale
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing data sets
* Data integrity, security, privacy, and provenance for
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing data
* Determining and assessing Quality of Information for
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing data
* Crowd-assisted (human-in-the-loop) approaches to analyzing
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing data
* Context modeling and reasoning in crowdsensing/crowdsourcing
applications
* Incentive mechanisms for participation in
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing applications
* Supporting crowdsensing/crowdsourcing in heterogeneous networks
* Crowdsensing/crowdsourcing for pervasive systems
* Novel use of sensors for crowdsensing/crowdsourcing applications
* Energy-efficient mechanisms for crowdsensing/crowdsourcing
applications
* Programming abstractions and middleware for
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing applications
* Novel large-scale crowdsensing/crowdsourcing applications
Submitted papers must be original contributions that are unpublished
and are not currently under consideration for publication by other
venues. Submissions are limited to a maximum length of 6 pages and must
adhere to IEEE format (2 column, 10 pt font). Templates are available
via the workshop website. Accepted papers will be published in the IEEE

Community networking is an emerging model for the Future Internet
where communities of citizens build, operate and own open IP-based
networks, forming a key infrastructure for individual and collective
digital participation. Although community-based networks often extend
or complement the coverage of networks of commercial ISPs, they differ
in several key aspects. There is usually no central authority that is
responsible for a precise network planning; a community network grows
organically. Support is decentralized and open, provided by the
community to the community. The network nodes are often inexpensive
off-the-shelf equipment and the network elements exhibit a high degree
of heterogeneity in the hardware, software, and capacity. The entire
network infrastructure belongs to the users and is shared to build the
network. The network is very dynamic: the number of nodes may rapidly
grow and change as new members join the network, or when nodes
overload or fail. These community networks are usually built with low
cost point-to-point wireless links organised in mesh networks, with an
increasing presence of optical fibre links.
In these scenarios, the networking and systems research community has
the opportunity to contribute with more sustainable, adaptive,
scalable, integrated, autonomic solutions for those common traits in
community networks.
This special issue aims to collect publications addressing theoretical
and practical challenges of community networks and services, including
multi-disciplinary contributions that provide insights in the
socio-technical-economic understanding of the community network
operation and growth.
Topics of Interest
Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
Wireless mesh network protocols for community networks
Wireless MAC and routing protocols for heterogeneous community networks
Services and applications in community networks
Cross-layer designs and implementation in community networks
Hybrid community networks with wireless and optical fibre links
Tools for bootstrapping and running community networks
Clouds for community networks
Interoperation of cloud-based community services
Performance modelling and evaluation of community networks and services
Quality of service provisioning
Quality of experience in community networks
Community network security and privacy
Large-scale management and data collection infrastructures
Incentive models for encouraging users and businesses to participate
in community networks
Socio-technical-economic models for community networks
Community networks research infrastructure

CALL FOR PAPERS
The key components of many pervasive systems and applications are already
deployed in the form of ubiquitous commercial products carried by humans.
Human mobility makes it possible for such key components to interact,
promoting cooperation and sharing of content, services and resources.
Smartphones, tablet PCs, and other personal devices act as mobile computing
elements able to gather information about the surrounding environment
according to the mobility of users. In other situations these devices
operate as mobile nodes of the computing and/or networking infrastructure,
where interaction and communication occur opportunistically.
The goal of PerMoby is to explore the impact of human mobility on the
achievement of the pervasive computing vision. The focus is on pervasive
applications, systems, and protocols where mobility plays an active role
in achieving the end goals.
Original papers addressing both theoretical and practical aspects of
human-centric applications and systems are solicited. Papers describing
prototype implementations and deployment of such applications and systems
are particularly welcome. The submission of papers on controversial issues
is also encouraged. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- pervasive systems and applications based on (or influenced by) human
mobility
- mobile phone sensing applications and systems
- opportunistic and participatory sensing, and anything in between
- opportunistic computing
- pervasive systems with humans in the loop
- wearable sensing systems
- mobility models
- distributed computing approaches that rely on human mobility
- impact of human mobility on wireless communication
- green pervasive applications that leverage human mobility
- mobility aware protocols
- opportunistic networking
- pervasive social networking
PUBLICATION AND INDEXING
Papers are published in the combined proceedings of the IEEE PerCom
Workshops and will appear on IEEExplore.
According to Google’s metrics, the combined proceedings (main conference +
workshops) are characterised by high values of h5 index and h5-median index,
respectively equal to 32 and 45. This makes the IEEE PerCom Workshops one of
the publication venues with higher visibility and impact in the area of
pervasive computing.
In the last years, the IEEE PerCom Workshops proceedings have always been
indexed by Scopus. Besides appearing within the database, a paper that
is published in the IEEE PerCom Workshops is both a “source” and a
“destination” for the Scopus citation managing system (and thus it
contributes to the author’s h-index and citation count, as computed
by Scopus).
PAPER SUBMISSION
Papers should contain original material and should not be previously
published or currently submitted for consideration elsewhere. Manuscripts
are limited to a maximum of 6 pages in IEEE conference format. At least
one author of each accepted paper must register and attend the workshop
to present the paper. There is no workshop-only registration. An oral
presentation at the workshop is strictly required. Failure to present
the paper at the workshop will result in the withdrawal of the paper
from the proceedings as well as from IEEE Xplore. Paper submission will
be via EDAS (further details will be available on the workshop website).
