CALL FOR PAPERS
MobiHoc 2016
The Seventeenth International Symposium
on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing
www.sigmobile.org/mobihoc/2016
05-08, July,2016
Paderborn, Germany
ACM MobiHoc is a premier conference with a highly selective single-track
technical program dedicated to addressing the challenges emerging from
dynamic networks and computing. Work that presents new performance
evaluation methods and algorithms and obtains fundamental insights into
computer and networked systems is encouraged.
The specific areas of interest include methodologies, formalisms,
algorithms and systems for:
- Dynamic networks broadly defined, such as communication, wireless,
social, energy and transportation networks
- Analytical modeling techniques and model validation
- Performance, scalability, power and reliability analysis
- Capacity planning, resource allocation, run time management and
scheduling
- Anomaly detection, system measurement, monitoring and forecasting
- Routing, scheduling, resource allocation, and energy efficiency
- Scaling laws and fundamental limits
- Communication and networking aspects of cyber-physical systems
- Trust, security, and privacy
- Quality of service, total cost of ownership and pricing
- Applications of game theory, economics and control theory to dynamic
networks
- Big data and machine learning in the context of dynamic networks
- Applications, middleware, transport, network, and MAC protocols
- Measurements from deployed and experimental systems
All papers submitted to the conference will be considered for a
Best Paper Award.
Paper Submission Guidelines
---------------------------
Papers should not exceed 10 pages (US letter size) double column including
figures, tables, and references in standard ACM format. Papers must be
submitted electronically in printable pdf form. Templates for the standard
ACM format can be found at this link. Both strict and alternate styles are
acceptable for submission. No changes to margins, spacing, or font sizes
are allowed from those specified by the style files. Papers violating the
formatting guidelines will be returned without review.
All submissions will be reviewed using a double-blind review process. The
identity of authors and referees will not be revealed to each other. To
ensure a blind review, the authors' names and affiliations should not appear
in the paper or the pdf file; bibliographic references should be made in a
way that preserves author anonymity; acknowledgments and support information
should not be included. In case there is a need to refer to a technical
report that includes, for example, proofs, an anonymous link should be
provided (for example, using Dropbox).
Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings published by the
ACM. Warning: It is ACM policy not to allow double submissions, where the
same paper is submitted to more than one conference/journal concurrently.
Any double submissions detected will be immediately rejected from all
conferences/journals involved.

ACM MobiCom 2016 Call for Papers
http://www.sigmobile.org/mobicom/2016/
As the premier conference on mobile computing and wireless networking,
MobiCom 2016 solicits full papers (limited to 12 pages excluding
references) that focus on the theory, system, practice, and challenge of
providing users with an enriched and ubiquitous mobile or wireless
experience. At its core, we solicit papers that address important
challenges in access/communication, energy, computing, security and user
experience as it applies to wireless networking and mobile computing. We
strongly encourage papers on emerging mobile/wireless topics including
but not limited to next generation (5G) mobile networks, Internet of
things, machine-to-machine communications, visible light communication,
novel access paradigms/modalities, smart devices, wearable computing,
and mobile data science/analysis. We also invite papers that integrate
mobile/wireless research with innovations in cloud computing and
software defined networking.
Successful papers will address real research challenges through
theoretical analysis, novel system design, and/or real-world measurement
and deployment of mobile networks, systems and applications. The program
committee will evaluate each paper using metrics that are appropriate
for the topic area. The accepted papers will be published in the
conference proceedings. All submissions must describe original research,
not published or currently under review for another conference or journal.
In addition to regular, full research papers, the conference also
invites submission in the following categories:
Experience Papers
The conference invites submission of short papers (limited to 8 pages
excluding references) that present extensive experiences with
implementation, deployment, and operations of mobile systems and
wireless networks. Desirable papers are expected to contain real data as
well as description of the practical lessons learned. The experiences
papers will be evaluated by the MobiCom technical program committee,
primarily for (i) the richness of their data or experiences, (ii)
inferences drawn or lessons learned, (iii) discovery of new problems,
and (iv) their impact on current and future mobile systems and wireless
networks as well as on the society. Note that a paper that builds a
system and presents a limited experimental evaluation is not suitable as
an experience paper. The selected experience papers will be a part of
the MobiCom technical program and will be published in the conference
proceedings. They should be submitted using the same submission
procedure adopted for the f!
ull papers. The title of these papers must have the prefix "Experience:".
Challenge Papers
The conference also invites submission of short papers (limited to 8
pages excluding references) that present revolutionary new ideas or that
challenge existing assumptions prevalent among the wireless research
community. These "challenges papers" should provide stimulating ideas or
visions that may open up exciting avenues and/or influence the direction
of future research. Descriptions of new products or evolution of
existing work are not appropriate topics for papers in this category.
While an exhaustive evaluation of the proposed ideas is not necessary,
insight and in-depth understanding of the issues is expected. Challenges
papers will be reviewed by the MobiCom technical program committee and
will be part of the technical program and published in the MobiCom
proceedings. They should be submitted using the same submission
procedure adopted for the full papers. The title of these papers must
have the prefix "Challenge:".
Paper Submission Instructions
All paper submissions will be handled electronically. Authors should
prepare a PDF version of their full paper. Any papers that do not adhere
to the following guidelines will be immediately rejected:
• Full papers - Maximum of 12 pages excluding references (i.e.
submissions may include as many additional pages as needed for references)
• Experience/Challenge Papers - Maximum of 8 pages excluding references
• Font size no smaller than 10 points
• Double column format with each column having dimensions 9.25 inches x
3.33 inches, a space of 0.33 inches between the two columns, and with no
more than 55 lines of text per column
• Fit properly on US letter-sized paper (8.5 inches x 11 inches)
• Authors' names must not appear anywhere in the paper or in the PDF
file. The PDF file must also not contain any hyper-links.
All submitted papers would be evaluated through a double-blind reviewing
process, with the identities of the authors withheld from the reviewers.
Please direct any questions about the paper submission process to the
Program Co-Chairs (at mobicom2016 "dot" tpcchairs "at" gmail "dot" com).
Awards
All accepted regular papers will be considered for the Best Paper Award.
The program committee will select a number of candidates for the award
among accepted regular papers. The winner will be selected at the
conference, taking into consideration both the paper and the presentation.
We will also have an award called the Best Community Paper Award. Among
all accepted regular papers, the program committee will select one that
contributes the most to the broader research community in terms of real
data or new software/hardware or artifacts.
Video Presentation
The authors of each accepted paper will be asked to submit a short
1-minute video to introduce the research presented in their paper to the
general public. These videos will be placed on the conference website up

Application of UAVs in Mobile and Wireless NetworksCall for Papers
The increasing developments in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have raised
a wide range of possible applications, many of which take advantage of
their communication capabilities with wireless and mobile devices. Today
UAVs are equipped with many onboard sensors such as instrument measurement
units (IMUs), global positioning systems (GPS), lasers, and cameras. Using
this information, UAVs can work cooperatively in groups or swarms through a
wide variety of scenarios, raising important challenges in their
cooperative decision making and control. However, the collected context
information from these sensors can also be transmitted and shared via
wireless multihop communications with not only other UAVs, but also ground
control stations and people on the ground.
The new generation of smartphones and tablets is capable of establishing
wireless communications and sensing a huge number of context variables.
Thus, it is possible to plan cooperative missions that comprise both UAVs
and other unmanned or manned ground devices, including tablets and
smartphones. The cooperation of UAVs with the citizens carrying the
portable devices will lead to a plethora of novel applications related to,
for example, public protection, aerial monitoring, and transportation of
goods.
The purpose of this special issue is to publish high quality research
papers related to novel applications of UAVs and mobile and wireless
networks.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Cooperative tactical movements, mobility models, and decision making
of UAVs in monitoring applications
- Collision and obstacle avoidance using context information
- Wireless communication technologies for UAV based applications
- Data processing and fusion from UAVs, including artificial
intelligence and data mining based strategies
- Novel cooperative decisions and control systems, including formation
reconfiguration
- Communications protocols for UAVs: routing, broadcasting, and data
dissemination
- Integration and interoperability of wireless UAVs with other wireless
multihop ad hoc networks such as MANETs, VANETs, and DTNs
- Application of UAVs in disaster scenarios
- Multiple UAVs path planning with collision avoidance
- UAV-WSN cooperative localization
- Context-aware information systems using UAVs
- Monitoring applications (aerial photography and video) using UAVs
- Simulation, prototypes, and real experimentation of UAV based
applications
Authors can submit their manuscripts via the Manuscript Tracking System at

Special Issue on Cyber-Physical Systems for Mobile Opportunistic Networking
___________________________________________________________________________
The pervasive presence of mobile personal devices with communication and
computation capabilities together with the massive use of online social
network systems (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, LinkedIn, etc.)
are increasingly creating a cyber-physical space where users can
interact exploiting and generating information. Enriched with several
sensing capabilities and networking interfaces, today’s portable devices
are enabling new ways of communication including Mobile Networking in
Proximity (MNP). This network mode complements the classic scenario with
Internet coverage enlarging the range of functionalities of these
devices through short-range communications (e.g., Bluetooth, WiFi
Direct, etc.) in situations where Internet may not be available. When
two devices are in proximity, they could still share information without
the need of continual Internet connectivity just exploiting the meeting
opportunities and activating an opportunistic hop-by-hop forwarding towa!
rds the destination.
In this view, the social-aware or social-inspired mobile networking
research is increasingly underlining the benefits and the need of having
knowledge of the social behavior of users for the MNP design. On one
hand, the social behavior of mobile nodes can be extracted from
mobility. On the other hand, also online social network interactions may
provide information about user’s social behavior. As such, the
convergence between the two worlds, the physical offline one made by
mobile devices and the cyber online one made by the online social
networks is getting more and more important, opening a novel and
interesting research field with many challenging issues. The goal of
this Computer Networks Special Issue is to solicit the research closely
related to the mobile and social networking reporting advances on
approaches, methods, and applications envisioning and addressing the
challenges in this field.
