Important announcement regarding Coronavirus/COVID-19
IEEE has been monitoring the developing Coronavirus, COVID-19. The
safety and well-being of all conference participants is our priority.
After studying and evaluating the announcements, guidance, and news
released by relevant national departments, the Organizing Committee of
IEEE SECON 2020, in concert with the Steering Committee and IEEE, has
decided that the conference will run as a virtual conference (i.e.,
using remote audio/video support) and not as an in-person event. Authors
will be required to present their paper remotely, according to IEEE
policies and procedures about publication(s). Attendees will still be
able to enjoy the presentations and interact with the authors remotely.
We will communicate the details of the specific audio/video tools we
will be using, as well as, the scheduling and format of paper
presentations and other conference events.
A registration will still be required for all authors and conference
attendees; we are currently re-defining this aspect. For this reason,
the registration deadline originally communicated to authors of accepted
papers is postponed to a later date. However, the deadline for the
camera-ready version remains the same.
We will soon post further updates about the reconfiguration of other
aspects of the conference.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Autonomous unmanned vehicle networks in civil applications are
considered with increasing interest. Such networks are envisioned to
consist of wireless sensors, robots and unmanned (aerial, ground,
underwater) vehicles and are being used in environmental monitoring,
border surveillance, network provisioning, delivery, construction,
emergency or disaster assistance. The challenges in the design of these
networks range from physical control of the vehicles, navigation, to
communication limitations. Due to diverse and interdisciplinary nature
of these challenges, algorithms and design principles proposed by
networking, robotics, control theory, computer vision and artificial
intelligence research communities will need to be utilized.
IAUV aims to bring together state-of-the-art contributions on the
design, specification and implementation of architectures, algorithms
and protocols for current and future applications of autonomous unmanned
vehicle networks, with a special focus on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)
or drone networks.

*The Second Workshop on the Future of Internet Transport (FIT 2020)*
*Call for Papers*
Workshop homepage: https://networking.ifip.org/2020/workshops/fit-2020
To be held in conjunction with the IFIP Networking 2020
Conference (NETWORKING 2020, https://networking.ifip.org/2020/)
June 22, Paris, France
Over the last several decades and since its conception, the Internet
transport layer has gradually been ossified, where deployment of
new protocols and mechanisms has been extremely hard if not impossible.
Application developers have traditionally been bound to use either
stream-oriented connection-based reliable communication using TCP or
datagram-oriented connection-less unreliable communication using UDP,
and middleboxes have been mostly configured to allow traffic from these two
protocols only, and hence disincentivizing the application developers
to use any novel transport protocols and services (e.g., SCTP, DCCP, etc).
In recent years, this long-standing stalemate has been broken thanks to the
rapid progress made on several fronts amongst them: (1) IETF’s Transport
Services working group (TAPS) and several industry stakeholders’ efforts to
introduce platform- and protocol-independent transport layer APIs (e.g.,
Apple’s Network.framework, the IETF TAPS API, and the NEAT API); (2) new
transport protocols being deployed on the wire that run over UDP as a
substrate (e.g., Google’s QUIC) to get around middleboxes; (3) new
congestion control mechanisms other than NewReno and Linux’ CUBIC (e.g.,
Google’s BBR) and finally (4) HTTP3 that is an effort to port HTTP2 over
QUIC. This has coincided with the introduction of new network technologies
such as emerging 5G mobile networks currently being standardized by the
3GPP, and the network softwarization movement using virtualization and
containerization techniques (e.g., SDN, NFV). With the emergence of
networks that offer much faster PHY bitrates and aggregate capacity (e.g.,
5G, WiFi6), and with emerging applications that require much more stringent
latency requirements (e.g., AR/VR/XR or automotive V2X), the need for an
efficient transport layer stack – that is likely to run in the userland
instead of the OS kernel – will become much more significantly highlighted.
*Topics of interest* include, but *are not limited to*:
- Technical issues and challenges that arise in the transport layer with
the emergence of high-speed and high-capacity networks (e.g., 5G)
- Transport protocols and their performance in emergent
latency-sensitive and bandwidth-consuming application use-cases (e.g.,
V2X communication and high-fidelity AR/VR/XR)
- Design, deployment, and evaluation of state-of-the-art transport
protocols (e.g., QUIC) and their congestion control mechanisms (e.g., BBR)
- The performance of transport protocols in virtual environments;
especially novel userland transport protocols such as QUIC
- Design and evaluation of new transport layer APIs for future Internet
and strategies for their deployment
- Design, evaluation, deployment, and measurement studies of
transport-layer security mechanisms (e.g., TLS 1.3)

popular. UAVs (or drones) are attractive owing to their flexibility
and potential cost-efficiency in comparison with conventional aircraft.
Drones are perceived as game changers and development enablers since
they may be used to deploy and optimize the network to improve its
coverage, build routes and fix network partition to ensure the best
communication performance, reduce energy consumption, and dynamically
respond to detected network problems. The benefits are limited only by
imagination.
This special session welcomes contributions dealing with all facets of
wireless communication with drones, including channel modeling,
integration into cellular networks (4G, 5G, and b5G), system aspects,
theoretical studies, algorithm and protocol design, as well as
requirements, constraints, and regulations. We are particularly looking
for papers reporting on experimental results of deployed systems,
summaries of challenges or advancements, measurements, and innovative
applications. The primary focus of this session will be on civilian
applications of drones.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Call for Papers
IEEE LANMAN has an established tradition as a forum for presenting and
discussing the latest technical advances in local and metropolitan area
networking. Cutting-edge papers spanning both theory and experimentation
are solicited in all areas of networking. Papers are solicited in all
areas of networking, but in keeping with the heritage of this event,
this symposium’s central theme is “Ultra-broadband wireless networks: 5G
and beyond”.
Ultra-broadband wireless networks, that can utilize emerging
communication technologies such as mmWave and THz communications, offer
a tremendous opportunity for unprecedented data rates and low latency at
the physical layer over short distances and network layer goodputs that
are orders of magnitude greater than current wireless networks. At the
same time, they raise numerous challenges – such as positioning,
localization, intermittency – that impact networking, communication, and
hardware design, often requiring cross-layer approaches to solve them.
The intimate single-track format of the symposium encourages stimulating
exchanges between researchers. The event is expected to be a forum for
discussion of new and interdisciplinary ideas on network access
protocols, network management and control, services and applications,
performance related to IoT for smart cities. Speculative and potentially
transformative ideas are particularly encouraged, as are studies
reporting measurements from real-life networks and testbeds. Papers are
solicited on any topic in networking, including, but not limited to, the
following:
• Cross-layer design for mmWave and THz communication
• Networking challenges with directional and LoS technologies
• Networking protocols and architectures for the IoTs
• Machine-to-machine communications
• Cloud, edge and fog computing integration
• Co-existence and heterogeneity support at the edge (HetNets)
• Energy efficiency for local and metropolitan area networking
• Information security for local and metropolitan area networking
• Intelligent routing and forwarding
• Named data networking
• Network and transport mechanisms for latency reduction
• Network virtualization in local and metropolitan area
• Packet scheduling
• Performance for local and metropolitan area networking
• Resilience and reliability for local and metropolitan area networking
• Software-defined networking in local and metropolitan area
IEEE LANMAN 2020 solicits paper submissions of Regular Papers (up to 6
pages) and Short Papers (up to 2 pages). Short papers will be presented
in a poster session. Also, some of the regular paper submissions may be
accepted as short papers by the TPC. The page limits include all
figures, tables, and references. All papers must be electronically
submitted in PDF according to the guidelines in the symposium website
http://www.ieee-lanman.org. The proceedings will be published in IEEE
Xplore and will include both short and regular papers presented at the
workshop. A Best Paper Award will be given to the paper(s) with the
highest technical merit.
