The 13th IEEE International Conference on Internet of Things
Rhodes Island, Greece
November 02-06, 2020

-----------------------
INTRODUCTION
-----------------------
As an emerged promising networking model, the Internet-of-Things (IoT)
is a novel paradigm to interconnect a multitude of heterogeneous
physical objects and devices. The IoT significantly provides an umbrella
for a series of critical building technologies including wireless sensor
networks (WSNs), fifth generation (5G) networks, and RFID. The
philosophy of the IoT is to develop an intelligent, dynamic,
large-scale, and coherent network framework for a wide range of
applications and industries. Due to its potential advantages and merits
such as high reliability, good scalability and intelligent capacity, the
IoT has attracted great attentions and interests from both academia and
industry.
As the earliest IEEE international conference on Internet of Things, the
2020 IEEE International Conference on Internet of Things (iThings-2020)
will provide a high-profile, leading-edge forum for researchers,
engineers, and practitioners from both academic and industrial
communities to present state-of-the-art advances and innovations in
theories, systems, infrastructure, tools, testbeds, technologies and
applications for the IoT, as well as to identify emerging research
topics and define the future of everything interconnect via cyberspace.

Call for Papers
3rd Workshop on Benchmarking Cyber-Physical Systems
and Internet of Things (CPS-IoTBench'20)
in conjunction with ACM MobiCom 2020
September 21-25, 2020 - London, UK
https://cpsbench20.ethz.ch/
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Over the last decade, research on Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and Internet
of Things (IoT) has led to smart systems at different scales and
environments,
from smart homes to smart cities and smart factories. Despite many
successes,
it is difficult to measure and compare the utility of these results due to a
lack of standard evaluation criteria and methodologies. This problem
inhibits
evaluation against the state-of-the-art, the comparability of different
integrated designs (e.g., control and networking), and the applicability of
tested scenarios to present and future real-world cyber-physical
applications
and deployments. This state of affairs is alarming, it significantly hinders
further progress in CPS and IoT systems research.
******** TOPICS ********
The Workshop on Benchmarking Cyber-Physical Systems and Internet of Things
(CPS-IoTBench) brings together researchers from the different
sub-communities
to engage in a lively debate on all facets of rigorously evaluating and
comparing cyber-physical networks and systems. Unique to this workshop, we
seek reports describing the reproduction of experimental results reported in
published papers. Examples of these include researchers looking to validate
another piece of work before comparing their own to it, or industrial
organizations evaluating a new technology or demonstrating the robustness
of their technology before customer delivery.
We invite researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to submit
papers focusing on one of the following topics:
- describe an attempt to reproduce experimental results from published work;
- identify fundamental challenges and open questions in rigorous
benchmarking
and evaluation of cyber-physical networks and systems;
- report on success stories/failures with using standard evaluation
criteria;
- present example benchmark systems and approaches from any relevant
community
(embedded systems, networking, control, robotics, machine learning);
- propose new research directions, methodologies, or tools to increase the
level of reproducibility and comparability of evaluation results;
- report on examples of best practices in different CPS sub-communities
towards
achieving the repeatability of results;
- present models to capture & compare the properties of algorithms and
systems;
Well-reasoned arguments or preliminary evaluations are sufficient to
support a
paper's claims.
Submitted papers must be written in English and may contain up to 6 pages,
including references, figures, and tables. We will follow a double-blind
reviewing process, therefore authors must anonymize their submissions.
References to the authors' own previous work must not be omitted but
referred
to in the third person. Accepted papers will be published either on
OpenReview.net<http://openreview.net/>
or on the ACM Digital Library.

The wide deployment of tiny IoT devices to provide seamless and ubiquitous
connectivity with smart sensing paradigms calls for efficient resource
management at the edge. Edge devices of today range from tiny sensor nodes
to smartphones and now even flying UAVs. State-of-the-art applications at
these edge devices expect near-to-zero latency, high bandwidth, and
optimized resource management. Intelligent data processing, management, and
response mechanisms are specially needed in the challenged and remote
deployments where reaching cloud can consume considerable resources. For
current and future IoT applications, there exist vast, exciting, and
challenging opportunities for building a conducive edge ecosystem. We are
now living in an exciting era where machine learning intersects with almost
all major computing platforms. Our specific focus is on how to make edge
devices intelligent by leveraging learning techniques. With such
techniques, the need is to decouple centralized intelligence and develop
truly distributed edge applications that gives power to edge devices of
being truly independent to take key decisions on-the-fly.
The First IEEE Workshop on Distributed and Intelligent Computing at the
Edge (DICE) seeks exciting, innovative research related to the design,
implementation, and evaluation of small-scale as well as large-scale
systems that host applications at the network edge. With a broad focus on
actual edge computing platforms, DICE solicits contributions that aim to
provide key insights learned from developing such systems.

- Development of intelligent edge computing platforms
- Data collection, analysis, and inference methodologies
- Edge solutions towards 5G integration
- Addressing the networking challenges
- Design and development of battery friendly algorithms
- Intelligent and network-aware edge applications

Original papers of three types are sought:
*Research Papers*: These papers report original research on the above
topics, and will be evaluated on significance of the problem, novelty of
the solution, advancement beyond prior work, sufficient supporting
evidence and clarity of the presentation.
*Experimentation and Deployment Papers*: These papers describe complete
systems, platforms, and/or comprehensive experimental evaluations of
alternative designs and solutions to well-known problems. The emphasis
during the evaluation of these papers will be less on the novelty and
more on the demonstrated usefulness and potential impact of the
contributions, the extensive experimentation involved, and the quality
and weight of the lessons learned.
*Big Ideas Papers*: These are papers that have the potential for opening
up new research directions. For such papers, the potential to motivate
new research is more important than full experimental evaluation, though
some preliminary evidence of the effectiveness of the approach or idea
is important.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submitted papers must have at most 12 pages of technical content,
including text, figures, and appendices, but excluding any number of
additional pages for bibliographic references. Note that submissions

*The 5th International Conference on Industrial IoT Technologies and
Applications (IndustrialIoT 2020)*
*Gandia-Valencia, Spain. September 28-30, 2020.*

*IndustrialIoT 2020*
In recent years, the widespread deployment of wireless sensor networks,
industrial cloud, industrial robot, embedded computing and inexpensive
sensors has facilitated industrial Internet of Things (IndustrialIoT)
technologies and fostered some emerging applications (e.g., product
lifecycle management). IndustrialIoT is the direct motivation and drive
for the industrial upgrading (e.g., implementing smart factory of
Industrie 4.0). With the support of all kinds of emerging technologies,
IndustrialIoT is capable of continuously capturing information from
various sensors and intelligent units, securely forwarding all the data
to industrial cloud centers, and seamlessly adjusting some important
parameters via a closed loop system. Also, IndustrialIoT can effectively
detect failures and trigger maintenance processes, autonomously reacting
to unexpected changes in production. However, we are still facing some
challenges, for example, it is very difficult to capture, semantically
analyze and employ data in a coherent manner from heterogeneous,
sensor-enabled devices (e.g., industrial equipment, assembly lines, and
transport trucks) owing to the lack of measurement tools, collection
protocols, standardized APIs and security guidelines. The aim of the
conference is to stimulate interaction and convergent among researchers
active in the areas of control, communications, industrial robot,
industrial cloud, smart sensors and actuators, informatics, mobile
computing, and security. All topics are in the context of the IndustrialIoT.
