*_FMEC 2025 CFP:_*____
Cloud computing provides a large range of services and virtually unlimited
available resources for users. New applications, such as virtual reality
and smart building control, have emerged due to the large number of
resources and services brought by cloud computing. However, the
delay-sensitive applications face the problem of large latency, especially
when several smart devices and objects are getting involved in human’s life
such as the case of smart cities or Internet of Things. Therefore, cloud
computing is unable to meet the requirements of low latency, location
awareness, and mobility support. To solve this problem, researchers have
introduced a trusted and dependable solution through the Fog and the Mobile
Edge Computing (FMEC) to put the services and resources of the cloud closer
to users, which facilitate the leveraging of available services and
resources in the edge networks. By this, we are moving from the core (cloud
data centers) to the edge of the network closer to the users. FMEC
dependability is based on providing user centric service. The purpose of
Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing is to run the heavy real-time
applications at the network edge directly using the billions of connected
mobile devices.____
Several features enable the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing to be a
perfect paradigm to the aforementioned purpose, which are the dense
geographical deployment of servers, supporting mobility and the closeness
to users. As in every new technology, some challenges face the vision of
the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing, which are the administrative
policies and security concerns (i.e. secure data storage, secure
computation, network security, data privacy, usage privacy, location
privacy, etc). FMEC 2024 conference aims to investigate the opportunities
and requirements for Mobile Edge Computing dominance. In addition, it seeks
for novel contributions that help mitigate Mobile Edge Computing
challenges. That is, the objective of FMEC 2025 is to provide a forum for
scientists, engineers, and researchers to discuss and exchange new ideas,
novel results and experience on all aspects of Fog and Mobile Edge
Computing (FMEC). FMEC 2025 is Technically Co-Sponsored by IEEE Florida
Section. Researchers are encouraged to submit original research
contributions in all major areas, which include, but not limited to the
following:____
* Fog and Mobile Edge Computing in unmanned aerial vehicle communications

Fifth Workshop on Human-Centered Computational Sensing (HCCS’25) co-located
with the IEEE PerCom 2025, March 17-21, 2025 - Washington DC, USA.
https://sites.google.com/view/hccs25/home
The fifth edition of the Human-Centered Computational Sensing (HCCS’25)
workshop aims to advance and promote research on how unobtrusive
observations of human cognitive, behavioral, physiological, and contextual
data are increasingly enabling innovative computing experiences. The
workshop will also foster discussions about the societal implications of
computational sensing. Traditionally, sensors have been understood narrowly
as devices that capture physiological measurements, often through
wearables. This workshop adopts a broader, human-centric perspective,
envisioning sensing as time-evolving measurable data directly linked to
individuals and their communities. With this approach, sensing encompasses
human reactions and interactions observed through spoken, written, or
signed language, eye gaze, facial and bodily expressions, social networks,
geospatial patterns, and other forms of human-generated data. Advances in
multimodal human data acquisition and fusion have the potential to
significantly impact all areas of human life, including productivity,
health and well-being, training and education, human-computer interaction,
accessibility, safety and security, as well as gaming, sports, and
entertainment.
Relevant topics include but are not limited to:
* Context-Aware Sensing for Adaptive Learning Environments
* Emotion Recognition through Physiological and Behavioral Signals
* Personalized Well-being Applications using Continuous Sensing
* Smart Workplaces through Behavioral Sensing
* Human Activity Recognition in Unstructured Environments
* Emotion-Adaptive Interfaces for Human-Computer Interaction
* Geospatial Behavior Analysis for Urban Planning
* Fusion of multifaceted, heterogeneous, and/or incommensurable human
sensing data * Localization and proximity-detection systems * AI-empowered
mobile sensing systems
* Generative AI for synthetic sensor data generation and evaluation
* User acceptance, quality of experience, and social impact studies
* Accessibility of human sensing technologies
* New interventions acting on human-centered computational sensing
* Experimental analysis with human sensing data from real-world applications
* Human-centered sensing for healthcare, industry, social goods and all
possible application domains
* Experiences and lessons learned from research projects focused on
human-centered computational sensing
* Privacy and ethical considerations for human-centered computational
sensing, including gender equality.
Organizers will consider the possibility of inviting authors of selected
papers accepted to HCCS’25 to submit an extended work to a Special Issue of
an international journal.
Submission and Registration:
Authors are invited to submit technical or theoretical papers for
presentation at the workshop, describing original, previously unpublished
work, which is not currently under review by another workshop, conference,
or journal. Papers should present novel perspectives within the general
scope of the workshop.
Accepted workshop papers will be included and indexed in the IEEE digital
libraries (Xplore).
Papers may be no more than 6 pages in length. Authors can purchase one
additional page for the camera-ready version. Papers in excess of the page

With the explosive growth of smart devices and the advent of many new
applications, mobile traffic volume has been growing exponentially. The
conventional access network architecture cannot accommodate such user
demands due to the limited capacity and long latency on the backhaul links.
Moreover, the myriad technological advances proposed for the future 5G
networks still mostly focus on capacity increase, which is fundamentally
constrained by the limited radio spectrum resources as well as the
diminishing investment efficiency for operators and, therefore, will always
lag behind the growth rate of mobile traffic. Therefore, novel distributed
architectures, which bring network functions (such as computing, caching
and sharing) and contents to the network edge, emerges, i.e., mobile edge
computing and caching, to confront the aforementioned challenges in the
networks development and many emerging applications, such as AR/VR, IoT,
eHealth, autonomous driving , gaming etc.
This workshop aims to consolidate the timely and solid works of the current
state-of-the art in terms of fundamental research ideas and network
engineering geared towards exploiting intelligent caching and computing at
the network edge. The topic of interest related to edge caching and
computing include (but are not limited to):
l System modelling: Computation modelling, caching modelling, energy
consumption modelling etc.;
l Enabling technologies: e.g., SDN, NFV, CRAN, D2D, cloud/fog computing
and networking, etc.;
l Application areas: vehicular networking, IoT, smart grid etc;
l Novel network architecture: convergence of computing, communications and
caching, content/information-centric network, big data analytic;
l Context-aware schemes: incentive mechanism for computing and caching,
pricing, game theoretic approach, network economic etc, caching placement
and delivery;
l Mobility management for mobile edge computing and proactive caching;
l Energy efficiency aspects: energy harvesting, energy storage, energy
transfer, etc;
l Security and privacy issue;
l Prototyping, test-beds and field trials.

Betreff: [InternetTC] ACM Middleware 2025 - Call for Research Papers
*(Apologies for the multiple postings. Appreciate it if you could
distribute this CFP in your network)*
==============================
26th ACM/IFIP International Middleware Conference
https://middleware-conf.github.io/2025/
15th – 19th December 2025
Vanderbilt University
Nashville, TN, USA
The annual ACM/IFIP Middleware conference is a major forum for discussing
innovations and recent scientific advances in middleware systems with a
focus on the design, implementation, deployment, and evaluation of
distributed systems, platforms, and architectures for computing, storage,
and communication. The conference will include a high-quality single-track
technical program, invited speakers, an industrial track, panel discussions
involving academic and industry leaders, poster and demonstration
presentations, a doctoral symposium, tutorials, and workshops.
*Topics of Interest*
The Middleware conference seeks original submissions of research papers on
a diverse range of topics, particularly those identifying new research
directions. The topics of interest for the conference include, but are not
limited to:
*Middleware Applications*
- Middleware for cyber-physical and real-time systems
- Middleware support for security and privacy
- Middleware for AI and machine learning systems
- Middleware for data science pipelines
- Middleware techniques for internet-of-things and smart cities
- Middleware for multimedia systems
*Middleware Systems*
- Fault tolerance and consistency
- Distributed and parallel systems
- Distributed ledgers and blockchains
- Event-based, publish/subscribe, streaming, and peer-to-peer systems
- Serverless and Function-as-a-Service computing
- Data-intensive systems (big data)
- Cloud, fog, edge computing, and data centers
- Networking, network function virtualization, and software-defined
networking
- Mobile and pervasive systems and services
- Emerging hardware technologies
*Middleware Design Principles and Programming Models*
- Programming abstractions and paradigms for middleware
- Reconfigurable, adaptable, and reflective middleware
- Critical reviews of middleware paradigms, e.g., object models, aspect
orientation
- Methodologies and tools for middleware systems design, implementation,
verification, and evaluation
- Monitoring, resource management, and analysis
- Virtualization, auto-scaling, provisioning, and scheduling
- Energy and power-aware techniques
The conference seeks original papers of five types:
- *Research Papers: *These papers report original research on the above
topics and will be evaluated on the significance of the problem, the
novelty of the solution, advancement beyond prior work, sufficient
supporting evidence, and clarity of the presentation.
- *Experimentation and Deployment Papers: *These papers describe
complete systems, platforms, and/or comprehensive experimental evaluations
of alternative designs and solutions to well-known problems. The emphasis
during the review of these papers will be more on the demonstrated
usefulness and potential impact of the contributions, the extensive
experimentation involved, and the quality and weight of the lessons learned
- *Big Ideas Papers: *These are papers that have the potential to open
up new research directions. For such papers, the potential to motivate new
research is more important than full experimental evaluation, though some
preliminary evidence of the effectiveness of the approach or idea is
important. We will require senior researchers to present papers in this
track for stronger dissemination and more lively discussion.
- *Short Papers : *These papers hold up to the same standards and
evaluation criteria of full research papers, but their content is presented
in a more compact format.
*Important Dates, Deadlines, Conditions*
Middleware 2025 will have *two submission deadlines*, and we are providing
the possibility of revision decisions for some papers that are deemed
promising but somehow not yet complete. A more detailed explanation of the
submission model is provided below.
