Call for Papers: The 2018 ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor
Systems (SenSys 2018)
**** ACM SenSys 2018 ****
Shenzhen, China
November 4-7, 2018
http://sensys.acm.org/2018/
Dear Colleagues,
The ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems (SenSys 2018) is
the premier computer systems conference focused on the architecture,
design, implementation, and performance of networked sensing systems,
sensor-oriented data modeling, and analytics, in addition to sensor-enabled
applications. ACM SenSys brings together academic, industry, and government
professionals to a single-track, highly selective forum, that takes a broad
view on the areas of computing that are relevant to the future of sensor
systems. Topics of interests include, but are not limited to, the following:
- New platforms and hardware designs for networked sensor systems
- Systems software, including operating systems and network stacks
- Low power operation, energy harvesting, and energy management
- Applications, and deployment experiences (such as smart cities, wellness
and healthcare sensing, and industrial process monitoring)
- Resource-efficient machine learning for embedded and mobile platforms
- Wireless media access control, network, and transport-layer protocol
designs
- New communication paradigms for ubiquitous connectivity
- Innovations in learning algorithms and models for sensor perception and
understanding
- Mobile and pervasive systems, including personal wearable devices,
drones, and robots
- Sensing, actuation, and control
- System services such as time and location estimation
- Data management and analytics, including quality, integrity, and
trustworthiness
- Learning, adaptation, and autonomy in cyber-physical systems
- Heterogeneous collaborative sensing, including human-robot sensor systems
- Fault-tolerance, reliability, and verification
- Security and privacy in sensor-enabled applications and systems
We invite technical papers describing original ideas, ground-breaking
results, and real-world experiences involving innovative sensor systems.
Successful submissions will explain why the topic is relevant to a vision
of the future of sensing systems. Submissions will be judged on
originality, significance, clarity, relevance, and correctness. In addition
to citing relevant, published work, authors must cite and relate their
submissions to relevant prior publications of their own. Ethical approval
for experiments with human subjects should be demonstrated as part of the
submission.

Call for Paper
Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies (ETT)
Data Driven Intelligence in Wireless Networks: Issues, Challenges, and
Solution
Aim and Scope: An evolving concept called data driven intelligence is a
model for a new viewpoint on gathering vision from a vast pool of data.
There are more than 370 Million Internet users worldwide. Number of
unique mobile users is almost 5 Billion, with total number of mobile
connections exceeding 8 Billion. This indicates that wireless
communication is a prevalent field. Different wireless technologies
including mobile cellular, fixed line, wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) and
others are widely used for diverse communication purposes. It is
estimated that majority of user’s access Internet via a mobile device.
Internet traffic is dominated by multimedia content, and its proportion
is ever increasing. This increases quality of service/experience
(QoS/QoE) requirements. Optimizing multiple, often conflicting goals
(delay, throughput, energy etc.) is of fundamental importance in the
context.
With the spreading of Internet and broadening of its capacity, data is
available in abundance. Many fields benefit from data to optimize
decisions. A lot of datasets, related to performance and security of
different wireless networks are publicly available. Depending on the
type of network and application, potential research areas include but
not limited to: routing, MAC layer optimizations, mobility optimization,
spectrum sensing, signal classification, handover decision, power
allocation and rate adaptation, performance prediction, data collection
and aggregation, event detection, localization and object tracking,
intrusion detection and other security issues. Potential techniques to
solve such problems include but not limited to: machine learning
(supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement), swarm intelligence,
genetic algorithms, artificial immune system, markov decision process,
and game theory. Therefore, this special issue is to focus the data
driven techniques to solve wireless communication problems (e.g. related
to performance, security, and applications etc.). We invite researchers
from academia and industry to discuss challenging ideas and novel
research contributions, demonstrate results on data driven intelligence
in wireless networks and related areas.
Topics of Interest: Topics of interest include, but not limited to the
following:
• Physical layer issues and data driven intelligence
• Link layer issues and data driven intelligence
• Network layer issues and data driven intelligence
• Cross layer data driven optimizations
• Wireless sensor networks and data driven intelligence
• Cognitive radio networks and data driven intelligence
• Vehicular networks and data driven intelligence
• Edge/Fog Computing and data driven intelligence
• Supervises and unsupervised machine learning techniques for wireless
networks
• Reinforcement learning techniques and wireless networks
• Data driven algorithms for wireless networks

*Call for Papers: IEEE LANMAN 2018 - Paper Submission Deadline: Mar
9th, 2018*
*
http://lanman2018.ieee-lanman.org/
IEEE LANMAN has an established tradition as a forum for presenting and
discussing the latest technical advances in local and metropolitan area
networking. Continuing that tradition, IEEE LANMAN 2018 invites
cutting-edge papers spanning both theory and experimentation. Papers are
solicited in all areas of networking, but in keeping with the current
research trend, this workshop’s central theme is Networking the
Intelligent Edge. The intelligent edge is a platform for the deployment
of low latency applications and services that can also provide compute
capabilities close to the field where the service is delivered. Several
vertical markets require IT services close to the field with a reliable
and low latency networking glue that can intelligently determine how the
different components of the service are multiplexed and delivered to the
end consumer.
The intimate single-track session format of the workshop encourages
stimulating exchanges between researchers. The workshop is expected to
be a forum for discussion of new and interdisciplinary ideas on
architectures, service models, pricing, and performance. Speculative and
potentially transformative ideas are particularly encouraged, as are
studies reporting measurements from real-life networks and testbeds.
Papers are solicited on any LANMAN topic including, but not limited to,
the following:
Network and transport mechanisms for latency reduction
Intelligent routing and forwarding
Reliable transport in heterogeneous access networks
Multi-path transport
Load aware packet forwarding
In-network caching
In-network processing
Packet scheduling
Active queue management
Context-aware networking
Named-data networking
Internet of things
Vehicular communications
Machine to machine communications
Machine to human communications
Group communications
Secure transport for group communications
Model-driven networking for intelligent edge applications
Intent-based networking for intelligent edge applications
API for intelligent edge applications
IEEE LANMAN 2018 solicits paper submissions of Regular Papers (up to 6

================================================================================
The IEEE Symposium on Industrial Embedded Systems (SIES) is a highly
selective
single-track international conference focusing on premier research
results for
embedded systems - an area of highest relevance for visionary technologies
such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and applications such as Industry 4.0,
Smart Production, Smart Cities, Connected Cars, etc.
The featured topic of SIES 2018 is "ICT for a Dependable Internet of
Things",
where increasingly complex software and growing networks,
application-specific
hardware and systems on chips (SoC) will become more and more relevant
for all
related areas of industrial and consumer applications. In this regard,
the IoT
promises to be one of the most disruptive technologies with transformational
impact on industry and society throughout the next decades. As a global
super-
infrastructure, the IoT is a key enabling technology for a multitude of
application domains, including smart cities, smart cars, smart home, smart
health, smart factories, smart buildings, etc. However, related applications
and services are only feasible if the underlying systems do not fail and
disastrous real-world impacts are avoided, making dependability one of
the main
design challenges.
The aim of the symposium is to bring together researchers and practitioners
from industry and academia. SIES provides a platform to report on recent
developments, deployments, technology trends and research results, as
well as
to discuss and start initiatives related to embedded systems and their
applications in a variety of industrial environments.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

OVERVIEW
========
Robot vehicle platforms, often called “drones”, offer exciting new
opportunities for mobile computing. While traditional mobile systems
respond to device mobility (such as smartphones), drones allow computer
systems to actively control device location, allowing them to interact
with the physical world in new ways and with new-found scale,
efficiency, or precision. The startup cost to experiment with and build
real drone applications has dropped dramatically in recent years, also
thanks to technological developments driven by the smartphone industry
and the rise of the “makers” and DIY movements. Recent popular
applications employing drones are 3D-mapping, search and rescue,
surveillance, farmland and construction monitoring, delivery of
light-weight objects and products, and video production.
DroNet welcomes contributions dealing with all facets of drones as
mobile computing platforms, including system aspects, theoretical
studies, algorithm and protocol design, as well as requirements,
constraints, dependability, and regulations. We are particularly looking
for papers reporting on experimental results of deployed systems,
summaries of challenges or advancements, measurements, and innovative
applications. The primary focus of this workshop will be on civilian
applications of drones.

Scope
The increasing availability of smart objects will radically change our
cities. It is in fact a common opinion that, in the near future, our cities
will be populated by an incredibly higher number of devices that actively
participate to the execution of pervasive and advanced services. Being
massively distributed into the environment, such devices may generate,
collect, exchange and process big data, provide distributed services, offer
computational resources, and cooperate to perform some tasks locally, as
well as to delegate their execution to more powerful nodes in the
infrastructure or at the network edge.
At the same time, citizens roaming around the city may be considered as
mobile probes that, by making uses of cyber and physical data accessible by
smartphones, will analyze the situation and will produce reports to the
community. Furthermore the citizen’s smartphones will actively contribute
in creating the communication infrastructure by forwarding data coming from
surrounding devices thus partially relieving the communication
infrastructure from the heavy burden of the huge amount of data produced in
the envisioned scenario.
All in all, cities are going to become a new complex ecosystem which has
the potentiality to offer many amazing features and support innovative
application. Unfortunately, we are still far from the full exploitation of
the potentialities offered by such an ecosystem. The communication systems
so far developed are mainly conceived to connect people, and they hardly
adapt to connect devices. So that, Massive Machine Type Communications
represents one of the use cases for the development of the forthcoming 5G
cellular system. Also, since every day, new heterogeneous devices are
added to and removed from our cities, it is mandatory to develop some
framework capable to manage such an high-dynamic systems. In addition,
such systems are required to be capable to evolve their functionalities
over time, according to changes in their finalities. As a consequence, they
should support the possibility to add, update, and remove functionalities
depending on the available devices and services.
The CoWPER workshop aims to solicit contributions on novel algorithms,
methodological studies and experimentations on how to enable the formerly
described ecosystem. Specifically, on how devise a city-wide networking and
management infrastructure capable to efficiently guarantee communication
in the new envisaged ecosystem, to manage the complexity of heterogeneous
devices and access technologies, and to guarantee robust, ubiquitous, and
secure connectivity over the urban environments.
In line with such objectives, original contributions are solicited in
topics of interest including, but not limited to, the following:
- Models of network components’ interactions on a smart-city
- Self-organizing wireless networks for pervasive urban access;
- Distributed Sensing and Control in Smart Cities;
- Mobile-aware cloud computing models, infrastructures, and approaches for
smart cities
- Smartphone-based sensing systems, tools, applications in Smart City
environments;
- Smartphone and mobile systems and applications;
- Cyber-physical interactions with smartphones;
- Crowd sourcing in smart cities;
- IoT architectures and middleware for smart cities;
- Novel communication protocols for M2M/MTC Communications;
- Device-2-Device Communications (D2D);
- Dynamic trust management models for Smartphone based networks and
applications;
- Cooperation incentive models for Smartphone based networks and
applications;
- Reliability, Security, Privacy and Trust in smart cities ecosystems;
