SCOPE:
Over the past decade, advances in the Intelligent and Connected
Transportation Systems (ICTS) collectively intend to trim down the fuel
expenditure by avoiding congested traffic, enhancement of traffic safety
whereas initiating a new application, i.e., mobile infotainment. To
address individual requirements of both safety and non-safety
applications in the vehicular communication technology, there is the
need to build up a new communication technology for integrated solutions
of ICTS. Those commodities mentioned result in several types of
vehicular communications, i.e., Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V),
Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I), and Vehicle-to-Roadside (V2R)
communications. Due to the rapid growth in this field, various research
constraints need to be addressed, e.g., reliability and latency,
appropriate scalable design of MAC (Medium Access Control) and routing
protocols, performance and adaptability to changes in the environment
(node density and oscillation in network topology), and an evaluation
and validation of vehicular communication protocols under the umbrella
of coherent assumptions using simulation methodologies. To be more
specific, the data retrieval in connected ITS’s itself is a great
challenge in numerous ways. For example, the highly dynamic mobility of
vehicles accelerates a plethora of research questions to be solved.
Potential paper submissions are likely to exploit the connectionism and
emergence of networking systems in various problem-solving methods in
the ICTS and vehicular communications with a focus on the data
retrieval. It may also outline essential challenges, proof-of-concept
studies with a direct and simulated comparison to technical solutions,
and mathematical models of communication principles. Possible topics of
key interest are the following ones:
• Intra-vehicle communication (e.g., vehicle-to-pedestrians,
vehicle-to-portable, vehicle-to-sign)
• Network and system architectures for ICTS
• MAC protocols and channel management in ICTS
• Physical layer and routing protocols for ICTS
• Delay tolerant techniques and protocols for ICTS
• Real-time optimization systems for ICTS
• Modeling and theoretical proofs of communications in ICTS
• Emerging Internet of Things (IoT) applications with ICTS
• Smart sensors and communications in ICTS
• Quality-of-Service (QoS) & Quality-of-Experience (QoE) for ICTS
• Information and Content-Centric Networking in ICTS
• Data retrieval via software-defined ICTS
• Performance evaluations of ICTS

MobiSys 2018 -- Call for Papers
===============================
https://www.sigmobile.org/mobisys/2018/cfp/
MobiSys 2018 seeks to present innovative and significant research on all
aspects of mobile systems, applications, and services. The conference
values technical …
[View More]contributions with working implementations and

compelling mobile scenarios and applications as long as the work goes
well beyond providing an initial vision.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Experience with mobile applications, networks and systems
- Innovative mobile, mobile sensing, and mobile crowdsourcing apps
- Tools for building and measuring mobile systems
- Innovative wearable or mobile devices
- Novel software architectures for mobile devices
- Data management for mobile applications
- Infrastructure support for mobile computing

domains
Non-traditional topics that bring new perspectives to mobile computing
papers whose contributions overlap with work currently under review
elsewhere must not be submitted to MobiSys. Papers whose contributions
overlap with an earlier published paper will be considered only if (1)
the previous paper was published (not just accepted) at a workshop at
least 6 months before our submission date and (2) it adds significant
new contributions over the previous paper. Authors uncertain whether
their submission meets these guidelines should contact the program
chairs. Papers accompanied by nondisclosure agreement forms will not be
considered. Accepted submissions will be treated as confidential prior
to publication; rejected submissions will be permanently treated as
confidential.
MobiSys uses a double-blind review policy during the initial paper
review. Authors are instructed to not include their names, affiliations
and contact information on the manuscript they submit for review.
Authors should also anonymize the content of their paper to hide their
identity. Reviewers will not know the identity of the authors during the
initial phase of the review process, however, anonymity will expire
after the majority of the reviews have been submitted and preliminary
outcomes decided. The identities of the authors will be revealed to the
reviewers toward the end of the review process. Submissions who are not
properly anonymized will be rejected without being reviewed.
We strongly encourage prospective authors to use past MobiSys
proceedings as a guideline to assess the readiness of their work for
submission. Due to high review load on PC members, low quality or
premature work submitted to the conference is likely to receive a
smaller number of reviews and the reviews may be brief.
As part of the submission process, authors of papers that describe
experiments on human subjects, or that analyze nonpublic data derived
from human subjects (even anonymized data), will be asked to certify
that their work was vetted by an ethics review (e.g., IRB approval). We
expect authors to follow the rules of their host institutions around
data collection and experiments with human subjects.
Selected outstanding papers may be fast-tracked as a special section of
IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing.
Best Paper Award
----------------
All papers will be considered for the Best Paper Award. The program
committee will select a number of candidates for the award among
accepted papers, and select one or more award papers prior to the
conference.
Video Presentation
------------------
The authors of each accepted paper will submit a 1-minute video that
presents their papers' contributions to a general audience. These videos
will be placed on the conference website before the conference, and may
be played during the conference. Some of the videos will be featured on
the social media channels related to the conference.

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] IEEE JSAC Special Issue on Caching (December 1st)
Datum: Wed, 15 Nov 2017 06:20:26 -0500
Von: George Iosifidis <giosifid78(a)GMAIL.COM>
Antwort an: George Iosifidis <giosifid78(a)GMAIL.COM>
An: tccc-announce(a)COMSOC.ORG
Dear Colleagues,
please see the CFP below for a forthcoming JSAC Issue on Caching for
Communication Systems and Networks.
-------------
The ever-increasing volume of data traffic and the …
[View More]proliferation of
services with stringent performance requirements constantly outpace the
capacity upgrades in wired and wireless networks, and challenge their
performance and their economic viability. At the same time, recent
developments, such as the advent of SDN and NFV technologies, the
deployment of multi-tier wireless systems, and the novel interplay of
caching with physical layer techniques can create novel opportunities
for reducing this demand-supply gap.
In this new era, it is imperative to systematically revisit the role of
caching for a variety of reasons: (i) storage becomes an increasingly
low-cost resource, in stark contrast with other resources (e.g.,
spectrum), and can be embedded in equipment of various form factors in
large amounts; (ii) novel network architectures emerge such as 5G+
systems and hybrid wired-wireless designs; (iii) new business models
appear with Over-The-Top service providers deploying their own
infrastructure or cooperating with network operators; (iv) the needs of
users are rapidly changing, consuming huge amounts of content on their
mobile devices and generating their own content; (v) social networking
platforms are heavily affecting network operation creating additional
value but also congestion. Storage and caching can play a fundamental
role in this emerging era in communication systems and networks, by
increasing the performance of the offered services, reducing operating
and capital expenditures, and enabling innovative and game-changing
business models.
This special issue therefore invites submissions of high-quality
original technical and survey papers exploring the role of caching in
communication systems and networks, including the following
non-exhaustive list of topics:
Information-theoretic caching analysis: (i) Fundamental limits of
caching; (ii) Coded caching design with practical constraints; (iii)
Receiver and source memory-enhanced communications; (iv) Scaling laws of
cache networks.
Caching in next generation wireless systems: (i) HetNet and
device-to-device caching; (ii) Edge caching, cooperation and
femtocaching; (iii) Joint caching with scheduling, routing and utility
maximisation; (iv) Secure caching, privacy preservation.
Content caching and delivery: (i) Design of elastic CDNs; (ii)
Algorithms for storage and content placement; (iii) Novel aspects of
video caching and streaming; (iv) Caching economics; (v) Caching models
for ICN.
Data analytics for caching: (i) Analysis of request data, time-varying
popularity models; (ii) Popularity estimation and prediction of viral
content; (iii) Machine learning and optimisation for popularity
incentives; (iv) Interplay of social networks and caching algorithms.
-----------------
Authors should submit a PDF version of their manuscripts following the
IEEE JSAC guidelines (http://www.comsoc.org/jsac/author-information)
through EDAS, according to the following schedule:
Initial Paper Submission: December 1, 2017
Acceptance notification: March 7, 2018
Final manuscript submission: April 1, 2018
