Scope
*****
Wireless ad hoc, sensor, along with ubiquitous networks have recently
witnessed their fastest growth period ever in history, and this trend
is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. However, as such
networks become increasingly complex, performance modelling and
evaluation will play a crucial part in their design process to ensure
their successful deployment and exploitation in practice.
This symposium will bring together scientists, engineers, and
practitioners
to share and exchange their experiences, discuss challenges, and report
state-of-the-art and in-progress research on all aspects of wireless ad
hoc,
sensor, and ubiquitous networks with a specific emphasis on their
performance
evaluation and analysis.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Predictive performance models of ad hoc, sensor, and ubiquitous
networks
- Probabilistic models for ad hoc, sensor and ubiquitous networks
- Queuing and network information theoretic analysis
- Analytical modeling and simulation methods
- Automatic performance analysis
- Tracing and trace analysis
- Software tools for network performance and evaluation
- Performance measurement, evaluation and monitoring tools for ad hoc,
sensor
and ubiquitous networks
- Case studies demonstrating the role of performance evaluation in the
design
of ad hoc, sensor and ubiquitous networks
- Network performance improvement through optimization and tuning
- Mobility modeling and management
- Traffic models for ad hoc, sensor networks
- Performance evaluation of wireless mesh networks
- Performance evaluation of pervasive and ubiquitous networks
- Performance evaluation of VANETs
- Performance of wireless and sensor devices
- Performance of spectrum agile and cognitive wireless sensor networks
- Analysis of multimedia applications over wireless ad-hoc and sensor
networks
- Performance of pervasive computing and services
- Analysis of mobile cloud networking and computing
- Performance of continuity of service over heterogeneous networks,
seamless
connectivity
- Analysis of security and privacy in ad hoc networks and ubiquitous
networks

*** Preliminary Call for Papers ***
10th ACM Workshop on Mobility in the Evolving Internet Architecture
MobiArch 2015
To be held in conjunction with ACM MOBICOM 2015.
Paris, France
September 7th, 2015
More information is available at:
https://mobiarch15.lip6.fr/index.html
Announcement posted by Keun-Woo Lim (keun-woo.lim(a)lip6.fr)
MobiArch 2015 welcomes submissions from both researchers and
practitioners from academia and industry that explore challenges and
advances in architectures, protocols, and technologies in the current
Internet or in future clean-slate Internet. We encourage also
work-in-progress papers, we especially welcome position papers that
describe highly original ideas, present new directions, or generate
insightful discussion at the workshop.
MobiArch 2015 has mobile Internet data analysis as the central theme,
a new rising and challenging networking environment which mixes the
mobility information of users and the design of mobile services and
networks with the analysis of data coming from the network, the
devices and the applications. The emergence of Cloud-dependent mobile
services and the widespread growth of user-generated data, as well as
the ever increasing use of cellular and wireless technologies, are
leading to the collection of a vast amount of user mobility data as
well as measurements of network statesand service provisioning. This
data may come from network management and monitoring architectures,
from the user device and even directly from the application. In this
context, various networking challenges rise such as seamless IP
mobility management, the definition of algorithms correlating user
mobility and application usages, the online or offline exploitation of
large amount of mobility and usage data from the access network and
user devices, the possibility of offload computing tasks, whole
application or part of device operating system to the cloud, possible
algorithm correlating traffic offloading to content offloading and
application offloading as a consequence of mobile data analysis,
pattern inference and estimation, etc. To tackle these challenges,
various issues need to be addressed, such as efficient mobility
management and optimization, security and privacy, multi-homing,
transport over wireless access, user incentives to reduce network
congestion, incentives for network providers to deploy new/alternative
mobile Internet infrastructure, incentives for service
developers/providers to define new mobile services, efficient
multimedia content distribution, information centric networking
solutions, collection and management of data, new business models for
mobile data, to related operational concerns and legal issues.

CALL FOR PAPERS
IoT-SoS 2015
The fourth IEEE Workshop on the
Internet of Things: Smart Objects and Services
http://www.csee.umbc.edu/~nilanb/iot-sos-2015/
co-located with IEEE WoWMoM 2015
sponsored by IEEE, IEEE Computer Society
June 14, 2015
Boston, Massachusetts, USA
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extended version of the top papers from the workshop will be invited
for possible publication in a special issue of the International Journal
of Distributed Sensor Networks
http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijdsn/si/263575/cfp/
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a novel paradigm which is shaping
the evolution of the future Internet. According to the vision underlying
the IoT, the next step in increasing the ubiquity of the Internet is
to connect inanimate objects. By providing objects with
embedded communication capabilities and a common addressing scheme, a
highly distributed and ubiquitous network of seamlessly
connected heterogeneous devices is formed, which can be fully
integrated into the current Internet and mobile networks. Thus, it
allows for the development of new intelligent services available
anytime, anywhere, by anyone and anything.
When human interaction is absent from the system dynamics, the vision
is also referred to as Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications.
Many applications with high social and business impact fall under
the IoT/M2M umbrella, including personal healthcare, smart grids,
smart city, surveillance, home automation, intelligent transportation,
and it is strongly expected that new applications will emerge once
the enabling technologies reach a stable state. Presently, two of the
most important challenges for the widespread use of IoT/M2M
technologies are: i) architectures, protocols and algorithms for
efficient interconnection of smart objects; and ii) the creation
of value-added services enabled by the interconnection of smart objects.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together practitioners and
researchers from both academia and industry to discuss recent advances
in theory, application, and implementation of the IoT/M2M
technologies, protocols, algorithms, and services.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- System architectures for IoT/M2M systems
- Protocols and mechanisms for seamless IoT/M2M communications
- Enabling standards and technologies for the IoT/M2M
- Service platforms for IoT/M2M applications
- Business models and processes for IoT/M2M applications
- Energy optimization and sustainable operation of
IoT/M2M devices
- Access network issues; including mobility management,
data dissemination and routing
- Modeling and simulation of large-scale IoT/M2M scenarios
- Experiences with experimental IoT/M2M system prototypes,
pilots, and testbeds
- Dependability, security and privacy in the IoT/M2M context
- Performance, QoS and SLA in IoT/M2M scenarios
- Industrial use cases showing gaps to be filled by future
research
- Novel and emerging IoT/M2M applications and case studies
(eHealth, Smart Grids, Intelligent Transportation Systems,
Smart Homes and Cities)

performance, robustness and cost-efficiency. It also poses new problems
and challenges due to its intrinsic feature of large scale, in terms of
spatial and temporal distribution, information amount, energy
consumption, interfaces, functionalities, etc. These unprecedented
challenging issues are across the disciplines of embedded system,
manufacturing, telecommunication, computing, sensing, software
engineering, data management and analysis. Emerging and advanced
communication technologies (e.g., cloud-based radio access networks)
introduce many new opportunities to tackle the challenging issues in
large-scale ubiquitous IoT.
To address such challenges in large-scale IoT, besides requiring
intelligent algorithms for data collection and analysis, efficient
network diagnosis and management, we need new analytical tools,
fundamental mathematics beyond the confines of traditional communication
and information theories, and even methodologies from other networking
related fields like economics, biology, and thermodynamics, to shed
light on the fundamental performance limit of large scale IoT system and
to guide the design, implementation, development, and optimization of
emerging IoT technologies.
Topics of interests include (but are not limited to) the following
categories:
• Networking architectures and protocols for software-defined
large-scale IoT
• Applications, e.g., RFID for supply chain management, sensors for
smart city etc.
• Machine-to-Machine communications
• Safety, privacy and security in large-scale IoT
• Smart-grid, robot networks, unmanned aerial vehicles, vehicular
networks
• Performance modeling, evaluation, and optimization for large-scale
IoT
• Energy-efficient and cost-efficient algorithms, systems and protocol
design

CALL FOR PAPERS
http://sensys.acm.org/2015/
November 1-4, 2015 - Seoul, South Korea
Sensors have become an essential part of computing systems and
applications. Computing today is increasingly characterized by
ubiquitous, information-rich sensors that produce massive quantities of
data about the physical world. This new era of computing is driving
important new systems issues, and requires new system-level approaches
and design principles.
The ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems (SenSys 2015) is
a computer systems conference focused on the architecture, design,
implementation, and performance of sensors, broadly defined, as well as
sensor-enabled mart systems. ACM SenSys brings together academic,
industry, and government professionals to a single-track, highly
selective forum on networked sensing design, implementation, and
applications. It is the premier forum to discuss systems issues that
arise specifically due to sensing.
- WHAT'S NEW -
The increasing proliferation and diversity of sensing systems
and applications in physical and social spaces calls for a broadening of
conference scope. This year, the SenSys review process is redesigned to
explicitly focus on novelty and diversity of ideas! Highly innovative
work that offers new avenues for research or introduces novel
applications is encouraged, as opposed to more incremental contributions
to mature systems. Maximum paper length is reduced to 12 pages (plus
references) to facilitate introduction of new work. Sensys 2015 promotes
a broad coverage of areas in computing that are relevant to the future
of networked sensor and actuator systems.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
- Novel applications, modalities, and deployment experiences
- New sensor technology and hardware designs
- Ubiquitous, mobile and pervasive sensing
- Wearable, human-centric, and social sensing
- Software, communication, and networking for sensor systems
- Information processing and knowledge discovery from sensor data
- Storage, retrieval, processing, and management of sensor data
- Energy harvesting and management for long-term sensor operation
- Fault-tolerance, reliability, and assurances for sensor systems
- Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, and Sensor Swarms
We invite technical papers describing original ideas, ground-breaking
results, and/or real-world experiences involving innovative sensor
systems. Successful submissions will explain why the topic is relevant
to a vision of the future of sensing systems. Submissions will be judged
on originality, significance, clarity, relevance, and correctness. In
addition to citing relevant, published work, authors must cite and
relate their submissions to relevant prior publications of the their
own. Ethical approval for experiments with human subjects should be
demonstrated as part of the submission.
- SUBMISSION GUIDELINES -
