Cyber-Physical Systems Week 2015
April 13th - 16th, 2015, Seattle, WA, USA
http://www.cpsweek.org/2015
=============================================
Key Dates:
* Abstract Registration: October 13th, 2014
* Submission Deadline: October 20th, 2014
* Notification Dates: vary by individual conferences
* Workshop Date: April 13th, 2015
* Main Conference: April 14th - April 16th, 2015
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cyber-physical systems (CPS) are complex engineering systems that rely
on the integration of physical, computation, and communication processes
to function. Theories, algorithms, systems and methodologies developed
for CPS are the foundations for applications like Internet of Things,
industrial internet and automation, smart transportations, smart grids,
smart cities, buildings and homes, data centers, health care, wellbeing
and so on. Such systems must be operated safely, dependably, securely,
efficiently and in real-time. Advances in this field will have great
technical, economic and societal impacts in the near future. Since 2008,
CPS Week is the premier forum for academic, industry, and governmental
researchers to present latest research results and exchange ideas on all
aspects of CPS.
CPS Week 2015 will be held in the beautiful city of Seattle, Washington,
USA.
The event features four major collocated conferences:
* HSCC: The 18th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Hybrid Systems:
Computation and Control (http://www.hscc-conference.org/)
* ICCPS: The 6th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Cyber-Physical
Systems (http://iccps.acm.org/2015/)
* IPSN: The 14th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Information
Processing in Sensor Networks (http://ipsn.acm.org/2015/)
* RTAS: The 21st IEEE Real-Time and Embedded Technology and Applications
Symposium (http://2015.rtas.org/)
In additional to major conferences, CPS Week 2015 will host workshops,
tutorials, poster and demo sessions, competition, and PhD forums.
CPS Week conferences call for original research contributions. Please
refer to Call for Papers from individual conferences for topics of
interests and submission formats. All conferences have the same abstract
registration and submission deadlines. Papers will be reviewed by
individual conference program committees.
Contact conference program committee chairs for any question.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Real Time Context 2015
1st Workshop on Interdisciplinary Advances in Real Time Context
Awareness
March 13, 2015
In conjunction with NetSys 2015, Cottbus, Germany
https://www.netsys2015.com/workshops-tutorials/realtimecontext/
========================================================================
Recognition, processing and prediction of real time context data (also
known as “real time context awareness”) breaks the border from static
predefined reaction to user and situation specific, proactive
operation. In order to achieve real time context awareness, data
related to personal context needs to be sensed and used. This bears
technical, and at the same time legal and psychological implications.
The 1st Workshop on interdisciplinary advances in real time context
awareness addresses researchers who focus on technical, legal,
psychological aspects, and especially interdisciplinary research on
real time context awareness.
The ubiquitous availability of sensors in mobile and personal devices
(e.g. smartphones) enables the collection of personal situation
specific user data. This data can be used for real time context aware
applications. At the same time, legal and psychological issues emerge
when processing personal user data. Therefore, we invite researchers in
computer science and related disciplines to submit original work on
advances and interdisciplinary research on real time context awareness.
Topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to:
* Real time context data processing, and forecasting
* Security and privacy in real time context awareness
* Legal implications and requirements of real time context aware systems
* Psychological implications and requirements of real time context
aware systems

[OVERVIEW]
Smartphones (or smart mobile devices) have now truly become a ubiquitous
computing device, a computer that the late Mark Weiser envisioned in his
ubiquitous computing manifesto. Many applications that could only have
been dreamed of, have now become a reality due to the improving
computing, sensing, display and networking capabilities of smartphones.
With applications ranging from productivity, entertainment, enterprise,
social networking, communications and mixed reality, the smartphone is
the 'swiss army knife' of it all. However, there are still many untapped
elements and unlimited possibilities that smartphones can provide
next-generation interactive systems with more intuitive and intelligent
functions and applications that have not been explored much in detail,
especially through the use of computing, sensing and mobile capabilities
of the smartphones.
Making uses of cyber and physical data accessible by smartphones, new
cyber-physical interactive technologies and systems can be designed and
integrated to create novel functionalities, methods and intelligences to
interact with humans for better social experiences, and more intelligent
services and creative applications, such as recommender systems,
advertising platforms, gaming applications that are interactive to the
user smartphones on the spot in a physical environment and situation.
This special issue of ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing,
Communications and Applications provides an opportunity to attract and
bring together mobile computing, cyber-physical systems, ubiquitous
computing, social computing, wireless networking and multimedia
communications researchers along with user interface designers and
practitioners with diverse backgrounds to contribute papers on
theoretical, practical, and methodological issues on next-generation
interactive technologies, systems and applications using smartphones.

CALL FOR PAPERS
IEEE INTERNET OF THINGS JOURNAL: SPECIAL ISSUE ON
Internet of Things over LTE/LTE-A Network:
Theory, Methods, and Case Studies
+-----------------------------------------------------------------+
With the global deployment in the fourth-generation (4G) cellular
networks, long term evolution (LTE) and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) have
become key technologies to enable Internet of Things (IoT)
applications. To accommodate various streaming data of IoT
applications, LTE/LTE-A standards have defined several
quality-of-service (QoS) classes for different traffic
characteristics, in terms of traffic bit-rate, tolerable delay and
packet loss rate. Moreover, to meet the stringent power-saving
requirements for IoT devices, LTE/LTE-A standards also have defined
the discontinuous reception/transmission (DRX/DTX) mechanism to
allow devices to turn off their radio interfaces and go to sleep
when no data need to be received or transmitted from/to the evolved
Node B (eNB). Clearly, the convergence of IoT and 3GPP LTE network
can considerably benefit both sides. IoT devices could efficiently
transfer their data using LTE/LTE-A networks, while the LTE/LTE-A
operators may develop more value-added IoT services. Despite such
promising future, there are still many challenges for IoT over
LTE/LTE-A network. This special issue aims to help both industry
and academia research communities to better understand the recent
progress and potential research directions on the path towards the
future of IoT over LTE/LTE-A.
Topics of interests include (but are not limited to) the following
categories:
* Future IoT concepts, applications and services for LTE/LTE-A networks
* Energy efficient IoT with LTE DRX/DTX fine tune
* QoS provisioning and cross-layer design for Internet of Things over 4G
cellular network
* LTE Security and privacy enhancement for Internet of Things
* Hierarchical LTE IoT architectures and eNB IoT Gateway
* Novel traffic modeling and resource/mobility management for LTE/LTE-A IoT
* Commercial model and case study of LTE/LTE-A IoT System
* Data-centric, protocol-centric and technology-centric approaches for the
design of IoT in LTE/LTE-A
* Data fusion and aggregation for IoT over LTE/LTE-A
* Novel pricing, billing and charging schemes for LTE/LTE-A IoT system
* Successful testbeds and trials of LTE/LTE-A IoT system
* Current and future standardization activities related to cellular IoT

The IEEE PerCom International Workshop on the Impact of Human Mobility
on Pervasive Systems and Applications (PerMoby 2015)
http://vecchio.iet.unipi.it/permoby
March 27 2015, St. Louis, Missouri, USA
in conjunction with PerCom 2015 (http://www.percom.org)
March 23-27 2015, St. Louis, Missouri, USA
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CALL FOR PAPERS
The key components of many pervasive systems and applications are already
deployed in the form of ubiquitous commercial products carried by humans.
Human mobility makes it possible for such key components to interact,
promoting cooperation and sharing of content, services and resources.
Smartphones, tablet PCs, and other personal devices act as mobile computing
elements able to gather information about the surrounding environment
according to the mobility of users. In other situations these devices
operate as mobile nodes of the computing and/or networking infrastructure,
where interaction and communication occur opportunistically.
The goal of PerMoby is to explore the impact of human mobility on the
achievement of the pervasive computing vision. The focus is on pervasive
applications, systems, and protocols where mobility plays an active role
in achieving the end goals.
Original papers addressing both theoretical and practical aspects of
human-centric applications and systems are solicited. Papers describing
prototype implementations and deployment of such applications and systems
are particularly welcome. The submission of papers on controversial issues
is also encouraged. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- pervasive systems and applications based on (or influenced by) human
mobility
- mobile phone sensing applications and systems
- opportunistic and participatory sensing, and anything in between
- opportunistic computing
- pervasive systems with humans in the loop
- wearable sensing systems
- mobility models
- distributed computing approaches that rely on human mobility
- impact of human mobility on wireless communication
- green pervasive applications that leverage human mobility
- mobility aware protocols
- opportunistic networking
- pervasive social networking
PUBLICATION AND INDEXING
Papers are published in the combined proceedings of the IEEE PerCom
Workshops and will appear on IEEExplore.
According to Google’s metrics, the combined proceedings (main conference +
workshops) are characterised by high values of h5 index and h5-median index,
respectively equal to 32 and 45. This makes the IEEE PerCom Workshops one of
the publication venues with higher visibility and impact in the area of
pervasive computing.
In the last years, the IEEE PerCom Workshops proceedings have always been
indexed by Scopus. Besides appearing within the database, a paper that
is published in the IEEE PerCom Workshops is both a “source” and a
“destination” for the Scopus citation managing system (and thus it
contributes to the author’s h-index and citation count, as computed
by Scopus).
PAPER SUBMISSION
Papers should contain original material and should not be previously
published or currently submitted for consideration elsewhere. Manuscripts
are limited to a maximum of 6 pages in IEEE conference format. At least
one author of each accepted paper must register and attend the workshop
to present the paper. There is no workshop-only registration. An oral
presentation at the workshop is strictly required. Failure to present
the paper at the workshop will result in the withdrawal of the paper
from the proceedings as well as from IEEE Xplore. Paper submission will
be via EDAS (further details will be available on the workshop website).

- Submission deadline: November 26, 2014
- Notification of acceptance: January 9, 2015

CALL FOR PAPERS
*The 16th ACM Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing
(MobiHoc)*
June 22 - 25, 2015 , Hangzhou, China
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ACM MobiHoc is a premier conference with a highly selective single-track
technical program dedicated to addressing the challenges emerging from
wireless networking and computing.
We invite paper submissions on fundamental contributions to a broad
variety of issues related to wireless and mobile networks. We encourage
theoretical contributions as well as submissions related to
implementation and experimentation that provide deeper understanding.
The main focus is on contributions at and above the MAC layer. Papers
dealing with physical layer issues are also welcome, provided that they
address cross-layer networking issues.
The areas of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
- Mobile, cellular, sensor, wireless mesh, vehicular, cognitive radio,
ad hoc, social, opportunistic, and delay tolerant networks
- Optimization and control for mobile crowdsourcing
- Mobile computing systems
- Applications, middleware, transport, network, and MAC protocols
- Routing, scheduling, resource allocation, and energy efficiency
- Localization and location privacy
- Scaling laws and fundamental limits
- Cross-layer optimization and control
- Modeling and performance evaluation
- Function computation and data aggregation
- Network resilience, fault-tolerance, and reliability
- Trust, security, and privacy
- Distributed sensing, actuation, and control in cyber-physical systems
- Wireless aspects of the smart grid
- Wireless aspects of the Internet of Things
- Impacts of physical layer innovations on higher layers
- System design, testbeds, and experimental evaluation

See the conference website for more information:
http://www.sigmobile.org/mobihoc/2015/
*Paper Submission Guidelines*
Papers should not exceed 10 pages (US letter size) double column
including figures, tables, and references in standard ACM format. Papers
must be submitted electronically in printable pdf format. Templates for
the standard ACM format can be found at
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates. Both strict
and alternate styles are acceptable for submission. No changes to
margins, spacing, or font sizes are allowed from those specified by the
style files. Papers violating the formatting guidelines will be returned
without review.
All submissions will be reviewed using a double-blind review process.
The identity of authors and referees will not be revealed to each other.
To ensure a blind review, the authors? names and affiliations should not
appear in the paper or the pdf file; bibliographicreferences should be
made in a way that preserves author anonymity; acknowledgments and
support information should not be included. In case there is a need to
refer to a technical report that includes, for example, proofs, an
anonymous link should be provided.
Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings published by
the ACM. Warning: It is ACM policy not to allow double submissions,
where the same paper is submitted to more than one conference/journal
concurrently. Any double submissions detected will be immediately
rejected from all conferences/journals involved.
