### Deadline Extension ###
Paper submissions due: June 15th, 2014 (11:59pm EDT)
Notification of acceptance: July 13th, 2014
Camera-ready version due: July 19th, 2014
Workshop date: Sept 11th, 2014
### Scope:
Recent years have witnessed mobile devices surpassing stationary
Internet hosts in numbers and exponential growth of mobile data traffic.
Wireless has quickly become the dominate last-hop access to the
Internet. The mobility of users, devices and networks has become an
integral part of today¡¦s Internet. In the meantime, the network
infrastructure is the process of transforming from a hardware dominated
landscape to an increasingly virtualized and software-defined,
cloud-based system with decreasing dependency on hardware. The
increasing ability to collect and process large amount of data
pertaining to network, devices, and users are posing new challenges to
network design. As these trends continue in the near future, a
reexamination is urgently required for the architecture of the
mobile-centric Internet.
The lack of adoption of Mobile IP and IPv6 mobility extensions and
additional challenges posed by mobility have led to renewed interest in
a clean-slate design that comprehensively addresses mobility, without
existing architectural constraints. This requires addressing issues such
as efficient mobility management and optimization, locator-identifier
split, multi-homing, security and privacy, transport over wireless
access, user incentives to reduce network congestion, efficient
multimedia content distribution, new cloud computing infrastructure with
information centric networking, collection and management of data, new
business models for mobile data, and related operational/deployment
concerns. Furthermore, the architecture will need to include novel
services to meet the demands of today¡¦s fast evolving mobile applications.
MobiArch 2014 welcomes submissions from both researchers and
practitioners from academia and industry that explore challenges and
advances in architectures, protocols, and technologies in the current
Internet or in future clean-slate Internets. We encourage
work-in-progress papers, we especially welcome position papers that
describe highly original ideas, present new directions, or generate
insightful discussion at the workshop.
### Topics:

Call for Posters/Demo: IEEE VNC 2014
6th IEEE Vehicular Networking Conference
December 3-5, 2014 | Paderborn, Germany
http://www.ieee-vnc.org/

---------------------------------
IMPORTANT DATES
---------------------------------
- Submission deadline: October 6, 2014 5pm US EDT
- Acceptance Notification: October 27, 2014
- Camera-Ready version due: November 10, 2014
Vehicular networking and communication systems is an area of significant
importance in our increasingly connected and mobile world. Effective
vehicular connectivity techniques can significantly enhance efficiency
of travel by mitigating the impact of congestion, reduce traffic
incidents and thereby improve safety, and overall provide a more
comfortable driving experience. Towards this goal, the 2014 IEEE
Vehicular Networking Conference (VNC) seeks to bring together
researchers, professionals, and practitioners to present and discuss
recent developments and challenges within the area of vehicular
networking technologies and their applications.
IEEE VNC 2014 will continue the tradition from previous editions to
include a poster session to allow the authors to closely interact with,
and obtain feedback from, the conference audience on new or on-going
research contributions related to vehicular networking. Posters are
especially suited for presenting controversial research directions that
may generate discussion, or promising ideas not yet fully validated
through complete extensive evaluation. IEEE VNC 2014 will also include a
demonstration session for researchers to showcase their latest
prototypes with media, models, or live demonstrations. The demo session
will be co-located with the poster session to ensure maximum visibility
and a close interaction with the conference audience. We solicit
proposals for demonstrations related to vehicular networking, describing
either mature or innovative systems and prototypes developed for
commercial use or for research purposes, from industries as well as
universities. We espe!
cially encourage demos on validating important research issues or
showcasing prototypes that demonstrate realistic applications.
Consistent with the submission policy of this year’s VNC edition but
different from previous editions, poster and demo submissions will be
put into distinct submission categories and therefore papers will not be
moved between different categories during the review process – i.e.,
full or short papers will not be “downgraded” to poster or demo papers.
---------------------------------
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
---------------------------------
All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed, and will be selected based
on the novelty and technical quality of the works, as well as the
expected interest to the VNC audience. Accepted poster and demo papers
will be published in the conference proceeding (also available on IEEE
Xplore) and will be advertised on the IEEE VNC 2014 website.
The submitted poster or demo paper should be a 2-page paper following
the VNC 2014 paper format (standard IEEE 2-column format and using
10-point font). All paper submissions must be written in English. The
title of the paper should begin with either “Poster:” or “Demo:”.
Optionally, a poster paper submission can also include an electronic
copy of the poster.
A demo paper submission should include an overview of the demonstration
set-up (the inclusion of photographs of the demonstrator are encouraged)
and the results that will be showcased to the attendees. We also
encourage the authors of the demo papers to include a link to a short
2-min demonstration video for the reviewers to facilitate the evaluation
of the quality of the demonstration proposal. If a video is included, it
will be downloaded by the demo co-chairs such that it can be hosted on
our website to ensure the anonymity of the reviewers. The videos of
accepted demonstration proposals will then also be advertised on the
conference website. For all accepted demonstration proposals, the demo
co-chairs will follow up with the authors to obtain requests for
required equipment and/or facilities (power outlets, Internet
connections, table dimensions, etc.). Demonstrations may be supported by
a poster describing the general set-up of the demonstration, its
background, and the!
technical content to be demonstrated. The authors should inform the
demo co-chairs if an accompanying poster will be presented.
Please note that for every accepted poster or demo paper, at least one
person must register for the conference and present the poster or demo.
---------------------------------
VENUE
---------------------------------
IEEE VNC 2014 will take place at the Heinz Nixdorf Museums Forum, the
world's largest computer museum, located in Paderborn, Germany.
The Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum is the world’s biggest computer museum as
well as a lively event venue. The Heinz Nixdorf Museums Forum is

SCOPE AND OVERVIEW
__________________
Challenged networks comprise those situations where communication is
desired,
but traditional Internet architectures fail to provide it effectively.
Such networks may be characterized by intermittent connectivity, a
heterogeneous
mix of nodes, nodal churn, and widely varying network conditions.
Traditional
examples of challenged networks include inter-planetary networks, sensor
and
wildlife monitoring networks, underwater networks, rural and remote areas,
and military battlefields. Recently, challenged networking has also found
applications in everyday settings, for which they were not initially
conceived,
such as opportunistic networking supporting data-centric communications,
traffic offloading from cellular networks, mobile cloud computing,
opportunistic and participatory sensing. Inter-disciplinary approaches to
challenged networking protocols are also successfully explored, exploiting,
for example, findings in the area of social networking.
The availability of enabling technologies in mobile devices, such as
WiFi direct in Android and D2D communication in latest LTE releases, will
further push towards practical developments of challenged networking
solutions.
This workshop builds on the success of the eight previous CHANTS workshops,
and WDTN 2005, to stimulate research on the most novel and challenging
topics
of challenged network research. CHANTS provides an ideal venue for
researchers
and engineers to present cutting-edge work and results, as research
papers or demos,
in the following topics:
- Delay/disruption-tolerant networks (DTNs)
- Opportunistic communication and computing
- Architecture, design, and implementation of communication systems
for challenged networks
- Modeling, analysis and characterization of challenged networks and
protocols
- Network Coding in Challenged Networks
- Information Centric and Content-centric Networking in Challenged Networks
- Security/Trust/Privacy concerns and solutions in challenged networks
- Case studies involving real challenged network solutions in various stages
of development or use
- Applications of challenged networks in disrupted scenarios
(e.g. disaster relief and emergency management) and in daily use
(e.g., vehicular networks, mobile social networking, censorship evasion,
crowdsourcing,
sensor networks)
- Green and energy-efficient communication using challenged networks
- Real-world mobility trace collection, analysis, and modeling for
challenged environments
- Network science methods for challenged networks
- Mobile data offloading via challenged networks
- Test and simulation tools for evaluating challenged network systems
- Configuration, management, and monitoring of challenged networks
- Challenged networking techniques for mobile cloud
- Challenged networking techniques for participatory and opportunistic
sensing
Selected papers will be forward-looking, will describe their relationship
to existing work, and will have impact and implications for ongoing or
future research.
We aim to have a highly interactive workshop, also including demos,
which have been
an integral part of CHANTS. Paper authors who can also run a demo of
their work will be
encouraged to do so. In exceptional cases, where live demos are simply
not practical
to present, poster or video presentations of practical results are
acceptable.
PAPER FORMAT AND SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] Deadline extension (June 10) -- The 9th ACM International Workshop on Wireless Network Testbeds, Experimental Evaluation and Characterization (WiNTECH 2014)
ACM WiNTECH 2014
The 9th ACM International Workshop on Wireless Network Testbeds,
Experimental Evaluation and Characterization
In conjunction with ACM MobiCom 2014
Maui, Hawaii, September 7th, 2014
http://wintech.eng.buffalo.edu
We witnessed an increasing demand for high-speed, reliable and
ubiquitous mobile wireless networks in recent years. Following this
trend, many new challenges arise and need to be overcome to satisfy the
growing number of wireless users. Doubtlessly, thorough experimental
evaluation and analysis of wireless networking protocols and
applications will increasingly be needed to identify the limitations of
current technologies and to motivate innovative ideas to go beyond the
state of the art. Moreover, realistic empirical evaluations of such a
diverse set of solutions, and their mutual interactions, will play a
major role to demonstrate their efficiency in everyday denser networks,
thus shaping future advances in wireless technology.

- Measurement and characterization (modeling) of real-world aspects of
wireless networks such as usage patterns, traffic, mobility and channel
characteristics
- Validation of existing simulation models, and results across different
testbeds/evaluation methodologies
- Testbeds and experiments in challenged wireless environments (e.g.,
underwater, underground)
All regular workshop paper submissions will be handled electronically
via the HotCRP system and should conform to the following requirements:
1. A maximum of 8 (eight) 8.5" x 11" pages (including figures, tables,

Call for Position Papers
DOCTORAL COLLOQUIUM at AutomotiveUI 2014
Seattle, WA, USA # September 17-19, 2014
(the days right after UBICOMP and ISWC!)
Submissions due: August 8th, 2014
************************************************************************
After its inauguration in 2013, the AutomotiveUI'14 Doctoral Colloquium
aims at bringing together again PhD students working on topics related
to the field of automotive user interfaces and interactive vehicular
applications, offering them an opportunity to present and discuss their
research to an audience of peers and senior faculty. PhD students will
receive feedback from their peers about the appropriateness of their
idea/topic/research approach, and will enjoy discussing their research
with senior members of the community. The DC is scheduled prior to the
main conference program on Wedneyday, September 17th, 2014.
The topics of the AutomotiveUI'14 doctoral colloquium are basically
the ones of the main conference (full list: http://www.auto-ui.org/14/):
1) Devices & Interfaces for vehicle operation
2) Automated/cooperative driving & Instrumentation
3) Evaluation & Benchmarking (Simulation, FOT, Naturalistic Studies)
4) Driver Performance & Behavior (Emotions, Intention, Distraction,...)
*** ELIGIBILITY ***
The AutomotiveUI 2014 doctoral colloquium welcomes contributions from
doctoral students currently registered in a PhD program. Ideal
candidates should have worked on their dissertation for some months;
thus, they should have chosen a research topic and possibly have also
selected theoretical and methodological approaches. Selection of
participants will be based on the quality of the submission and its
relevance to the conference topics of interest.
*** TRAVEL GRANTS ***
We intend to provide travel grants to allow more students to take part
in the DC; however, at this time we are still negotiating with
potential sponsors so that we cannot guarantee at all to offer travel
grants. If you think you are eligible for receiving a travel grant and
want to apply in case we have grants, please mention this in your
application. We will come back to you and request the required
information timely.
*** SUBMISSION FORMAT ***
Submissions must be single-author, but the name of the supervisor
should also be mentioned in the paper. The conversation language of the
colloquium is English and all submitted materials must be also in
English. Research students wishing to apply for the DC should submit up
to 5 pages including figures, references, and a 100 word abstract using
the format of the main conference (ACM SIGCHI two column page layout).
Templates for LaTeX and MS Word are available for download at the AutoUI
website, http://www.auto-ui.org/14/submit.php#doctoralcolloquium. Please
stick to the templates to foster consistent submissions. Each submitted
