15th ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing
August 25-28, 2014, Philadelphia, USA,
http://www.cs.wcupa.edu/mobihoc14/
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Important Dates:
Abstract: January 10, 2014 (Hard deadline)
Paper Submission: January 17, 2014 (Hard deadline)
Notification: June 1st, 2014
Camera Ready: June 30th, 2014.
ACM MobiHoc is the premier international symposium dedicated to
addressing the challenges emerging from wireless networking and With
its highly selective technical program, the symposium will bring
together researchers and practitioners from a broad spectrum of wireless
networking research to present the most up-to-date results and
achievements in the field. We invite paper submissions on fundamental
contributions to a broad variety of issues related to wireless
networking and computing. Theoretical contributions that enhance design
and analysis are welcome, as well as development and application of
state-of-the-art,
broadly applicable analytic and measurement-based techniques. Topics
addressed can include but are not limited to mobile networks, wireless
sensor networks, wireless mesh networks, vehicular networks, ad hoc
computing systems, social networks, cognitive radio, white-space
networking, with the main focus being on the issues at and above the MAC
layer. Physical layer papers that also address cross-layer networking
issues are welcome. Some topics of interest but not limited to:
o Applications and middleware support
o Distributed sensing, actuation, control, and co-ordination
o Performance-oriented applications of game theory, economics,
o machine learning, control theory, and signal processing
o Scaling laws and fundamental limits
o Software Defined Networks
o System design and testbeds
o Location discovery
o Mobile social networks and self-organization
o Modeling and performance analysis
o Network resilience, fault-tolerance, and reliability
o Trust, security, and privacy
o Vehicular networks
The symposium encourages the submission of foundational studies,
including theoretical explorations as well as novel architectures and
protocols that identify new challenges in the network design, innovative
services, and applications that may stimulate further research in times
to come.
The symposium will feature a Best Paper Award.
Paper Submission Guidelines
------------------------------------------
All submissions will be handled electronically and must be in PDF
format. Paper submissions for regular papers must be limited to 10 pages
(US letter size, 8.5 x 11 inches) including text, figures, and
references. The font size must be at least 10 points. Accepted papers
will be published in the symposium proceedings. All submitted papers
would be judged based on their quality through double-blind reviewing,
where the identities of the authors are withheld from the reviewers.
Authors' names must NOT appear in the paper or in the PDF file.
Submitted papers must not be currently under review for any other

*CALL FOR PAPERS*
*_IEEE International Workshop on Self-Organizing Networks (SONETs)
<http://open-innovation.alcatel-lucent.com/www/sohnets/index.html>_*
co-located with WCNC 2014, Istanbul, TURKEY
Workshop date: 6 April 2014
The ever-increasing need for higher data rates in multimedia services
and applications leads to stringent requirements on the bit rate/km2
that next-generation cellular wireless networks are expected to deliver.
This increasing trend has urged mobile operators to examine new ways for
improving their coverage and boosting their network capacities. A
promising approach to this challenge is the dense deployment of short
range and low power base stations in conjunction with the macrocellular
network, as well as relays, distributed antennas and radio remote heads.
However, the CAPital and OPerating EXpenditures (CAPEX and OPEX) of such
heterogeneous networks increase with the increasing number of nodes. The
solution to this problem is the deployment of Self-Organizing NETworks
(SONETs).
SONETs represent a novel paradigm based on the deployment of networks
with self-organized functionalities. There are significant technical
problems that need to be addressed for the successful deployment and
operation of SONETs. In particular, time-, frequency- and spatial-domain
interference management is a fundamental issue. To deal with increasing
peak data demands, SONETs design should be self-organized based on
interference/load/congestion levels, dynamically adapting their
transmissions via smart traffic offloading strategies onto
licensed/unlicensed bands.
The IEEE INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SELF-ORGANIZING NETWORKS (*SONETs*)
will offer an excellent opportunity for academic and industrial
researchers for spreading and sharing the latest results and
understandings for rendering wireless networks more efficient in terms
of capacity, coverage, Quality-of-Service performance and energy
consumption. Technical papers describing original, previously
unpublished research, not currently under review by another conference
or journal are solicited. Topics of interest may include, but are not
limited to the following:
* Self-configuration/-optimization/-healing mechanisms for SONETs,
* Energy-efficient algorithms and green wireless for SONETs,
* Cognitive radio techniques for SONETs,
* Game theoretical techniques and reinforcement learning for SONETs,
* Trade-offs between macro-cell, femto-cell, pico-cell, relay and
distributed antenna system deployments,
* Mobility management in SONETs,
* Backhaul-aware (wired, wireless, millimeter wave, etc.)
* Radio Resource Management (RRM) for SONETs,
* Intra-RAT (cell range expansion, e-ICIC) and Inter-RAT offloading
(3GPP and WiFi interworking) in SONETs,
* Device-to-Device (D2D) communications in SONETs,
* Multi-point transmission techniques(CoMP, JT, DCS, massive/large
MIMO) , Active Antenna Systems (AAS) in SONETs,
* Carrier aggregation (single and multi-flow) in heterogeneous networks,
* Coordinating self-configuration, self-optimization, and self-healing
mechanisms in SONETs,
* Policy-based management of self-configuration, self-optimization,
and self-healing mechanisms in SONETs.
SONETs 2014 will feature Prof. *Ismail Guvenc* (Florida International
University, USA) and Dr. *Colin Willcock* (Nokia Solutions Networks,
Germany) as keynote speakers. The workshop accepts only novel,
previously unpublished papers. All submissions should be written in

Wireless On-demand Network Systems and Services
Technical sponsorship: IFIP (more pending)
April 2-4, 2014
Obergurgl, Austria

As more and more users become increasingly dependent on wireless and
mobile communicationsIncreasingly more people become dependent on
wireless and mobile communications. It is therefore necessary to ensure
that they get obtain connectivity and service support on demand. This
may be provided by a new generation of wireless technologies such as
mesh networks, ad hoc delay tolerant and opportunistic networks, sensor
networks, and vehicular networks. The technologies will be integrated
with the Internet, the cloud, and with legacy wireless technologies such
as 3G and 4G cellular and WiFi.
There are many challenges to be addressed, including integration of
infrastructure-based and ad hoc networks, development of robust and
lightweight algorithms for self-organization, reconfiguration at all
layers of the protocol stack, as well as on-demand service models and
their provision in a highly dynamic environments with mobile users.
WONS, now in its eleventh edition, has established itself as a
high-quality forum to address these challenges based on innovative
contributions by experts in the field who meet in the context of a
conference that is rich in interactions.

3rd IEEE INFOCOM Workshop on Communications and Control for Smart Energy
Systems (CCSES)
http://www.ieee-infocom.org/Workshops.html
Call for Papers:
The emerging smart energy system is expected to be a large-scale
cyber-physical system that can improve the efficiency, reliability, and
robustness of power and energy grids by integrating advanced techniques
from power systems, control, communications, signal processing, and
networking. For instance, advanced communications and networking
technologies are expected to play a vital role in the future smart grid
infrastructures by supporting two-way energy and information flow and
enabling more efficient monitoring, control, and optimization of
different grid functionalities and smart power devices. The efficient
design of the forthcoming smart grid system faces a plethora of
challenges at different levels ranging from communications and
networking to control and power systems. In addition, the deployment of
