All submissions will be handled electronically via EDAS (http://edas.info). Submissions must be in Adobe PDF format and not exceed 16 pages, including text, figures and references. We require that submissions conform to the Springer-Verlag LNCS style. *Posters and Demonstrations Submission Information:* Poster and demo proposals must be submitted as a PDF file with no more than 2 pages containing an abstract describing the research content presented in the poster or demonstration, along with title, authors, institutional affiliations, and contact information. WANETs are based on the point-to-point networking concept, in which each node acts as wireless relay/router along the path between source and destination. This provides an essentially effective networking medium in infrastructure-less environments such as rural and desert areas. The nature of WANETs leads to several advantages in comparison with that of wireless cellular technologies. The relatively low cost and complexity of installation in infrastructure-less areas, the autonomous nodes, the self- healing and configuration capabilities, and several other properties enable WANETs for networking the most kinds of environment. Nevertheless, this nature also causes several technical issues and challenges for adopting WANETs in certain environments and/or for certain applications. The resources constrains due to channel sharing, the performance of current routing protocols and QoS mechanisms, the distributed coordination of network access, and many other issues and challenges represent essential topics for future enhancement of the current ad hoc technologies. Thus, beside the optimization of current WANET solutions the development of efficient solutions for those mentioned problems represents the main challenge for the Next Generation WANETs (NG-WANETs). In addition, using WANET based communication technologies in other fields such as for deep space communication networks could open new perspectives for accelerating the development and adoption of those technologies. Furthermore, bionic- inspired mechanisms and solutions can constructively help researchers to benefit from the nature experience to improve the current solutions and to develop new methods and concepts for solving critical technical problems. Consequently, new research fields could emerge which open new dimensions and creates new perspectives of WANETs for future applications and services. This workshop represents the first step to figure out these dimensions and perspectives of NG-WANETs and aims at providing a space for debate and knowledge sharing among researchers working on state-of-the-art solutions to the current issues and challenges of WANETs. All researchers and practitioners are invited to participate in the debate and knowledge sharing about the current WANETs and how the NG-WANETs are going to be in the near and far future. CALL FOR PAPERS Telecommunication Systems, Springer (indexed by SCIE) Special Issue on Wireless Multimedia Networks and Security Services Wireless multimedia networks (WMN) allow people to access rich multimedia content anytime, anywhere, using different access networks and different computing devices. It is anticipated that wireless multimedia services (WMS) will change the way we operate and interact with the world with the development of numerous interesting wireless multimedia applications. The new possibilities of wireless multimedia computing pose several research challenges. One of the challenges is security issue in WMN. Therefore, in WMNs, not only novel techniques, algorithms, architectures and experiences regarding multimedia applications but also security services should be considered. This special issue will focus on the challenges and issues related to wireless multimedia networks and the security services. Thus, it aims high-quality original unpublished research articles that describe state-of-the-art approaches and solutions for the wireless multimedia networks and their security. They exhibit interesting statistical characteristics such as small-world and scale-free. The past decade has witnessed an explosive growth of research on various complex networks. How can we analyse, manage and mine information in large-scale complex networks effectively and efficiently? This gives researchers in database, information retrieval and knowledge management great challenges as well as opportunities. In line with CIKM's tradition of promoting interdisciplinary research, this workshop aims to have a major impact on future research by bringing together researchers across both computer science and the emerging scientific discipline of network science to foster discussion and exchange ideas. There are many applications that will be enabled by new standards for mobile networking, such as triple services for mobile networks, digital television in a converged environment, video streaming, interactive gaming, navigation services, context aware services, emergency and healthcare applications, and immersive communications in virtual environments. The focus of this workshop is to present and discuss recent advances in the technologies needed for Context-aware Multimedia Content Delivery. Specifically, the workshop intends to address the following research areas: * Development of new techniques for delivering rich video experience to users over existing wireless technologies; * Definition of methods to utilize the situation and environment of a user (context) to initiate multimedia-rich content delivery; * Deployment of broadcast/multicast adaptive content delivery technologies to mobile users with diverse QoS requirements. Within this scope, the CAMCD workshop aims to provide a unique international forum and foster interaction among researchers by bringing together members of the video and networking communities. The workshop will provide an interesting venue for academic and industrial participants to discuss in terms of how next generation mobile video content should delivered to end-users. CALL FOR PARTICIPATION SensorNets 2009: The First International School on Cyber-Physical and Sensor Networks Monastir, Tunisia, December 17-21, 2009 http://www.sensornets-school.org/ EARLY APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 15, 2009 OVERVIEW It is a common belief that computing has been increasingly integrating our life. It results that the philosophy of networking is currently reaching a new frontier, where the physical processes directly impact the logical information for the sake of pervasive and ubiquitous control of the surrounding environment. This objective can be achieved by means of massively networked embedded systems, also known as cyber-physical systems (CPS). The Wireless Sensor Network paradigm is known as the most prominent enabling technology for CPS. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has also been a pioneer technology in defining the new concept of Internet-of-Things. There is, as consequence, a tendency to change the concept of the Internet from a network a data to a network of physical objects. The objective of the the SensorNets 2009 School is to present a comprehensive state-of-the-art of the enabling technologies for the concept of Cyber-Physical Systems, such as Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), RFID, wireless standard protocols, etc. The lectures of this school span the basic concepts as well as the latest achievement and the future challenges in the related research areas. GOALS The goals of the SensorNets 2009 School are as follows: * Provide a basic survey of the current research works and challenges on cyber-physical and sensor-based systems. * Provide an overview of the current enabling technologies for cyber-physical and sensor-based systems. * Provide a good opportunity to meet people and distinguished scholars working on cyber-physical and sensor-based systems. * Establish contacts that may lead to research collaborations in the future. AUDIENCE The expected audience are: * Post-graduate students, PhD students, and young researchers from universities: SensorNets 2009 will provide a very thorough and comprehensive background for young researchers starting their work in the areas of WSNs and CPS. * Researchers and engineers from academic and industrial laboratories around the world.
