Dear Colleagues, Please note that the firm deadline for submission is
now 1st May 2020.
***ACM SIGCOMM 2020, Third Workshop on Networking for Emerging
Applications and Technologies (NEAT 2020) ****
August 10th, 2020 - NYC, USA
*** Submission deadline: May 1st, 2020 ***

http://conferences.sigcomm.org/sigcomm/2020/workshop-neat.html
NEAT 2020 Workshop focuses on networking aspects of emerging
applications, where the tolerance to network delays, packet losses or
outages is extremely low, instead guarantees from the network for
precise per-packet delivery has become necessary. Hologram-based
applications are a natural progression to the evolution of media beyond
Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Networked-holograms
require a paradigm shift in a media communication methodology.
NEAT 2020 Workshop also explores possibilities such as time-engineered
packet delivery techniques, exploring new algorithms, switching and
multiplexing technologies wherever necessary in large scale industry
internet, and vehicle to infrastructure coordination.
The specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
-Architecture and frameworks for delivering high precision of services
- Convergence and optimizations of network protocols for Industrial and
Tactile networks
- Investigations, survey and techniques in data plane for Industrial and
Tactile internet.
- Scheduling in networks for high-precision applications
- Mechanisms to support ultra-low-latency in packet based networks
- Verification and proof of service delivery in high-precision networks
- Maximizing link utilization for high-throughput applications
- Architecture and protocols for reliable and lossless packet delivery
- Network security and privacy issues in Industrial and Tactile internet
- Resource allocation mechanisms for deterministic, reliable and
lossless data transmission
- Requirements and challenges in Holographic type communications -
Networking requirements and challenges of VR/AR
- Media formats for holographic type communications
- Methods for transmission of multi-sensory holographic media
- High-throughput transport for VR/AR and Holographic type communications
- Adaptive video streaming for network/user dynamics
- Video analytics and smart offloading for VR/AR
- Measurement study of existing VR/AR and HTC applications

Call for Papers
IEEE LANMAN has an established tradition as a forum for presenting and
discussing the latest technical advances in local and metropolitan area
networking. Cutting-edge papers spanning both theory and experimentation
are solicited in all areas of networking. Papers are solicited in all
areas of networking, but in keeping with the heritage of this event,
this symposium’s central theme is “Ultra-broadband wireless networks: 5G
and beyond”.
Ultra-broadband wireless networks, that can utilize emerging
communication technologies such as mmWave and THz communications, offer
a tremendous opportunity for unprecedented data rates and low latency at
the physical layer over short distances and network layer goodputs that
are orders of magnitude greater than current wireless networks. At the
same time, they raise numerous challenges – such as positioning,
localization, intermittency – that impact networking, communication, and
hardware design, often requiring cross-layer approaches to solve them.
The intimate single-track format of the symposium encourages stimulating
exchanges between researchers. The event is expected to be a forum for
discussion of new and interdisciplinary ideas on network access
protocols, network management and control, services and applications,
performance related to IoT for smart cities. Speculative and potentially
transformative ideas are particularly encouraged, as are studies
reporting measurements from real-life networks and testbeds. Papers are
solicited on any topic in networking, including, but not limited to, the
following:
• Cross-layer design for mmWave and THz communication
• Networking challenges with directional and LoS technologies
• Networking protocols and architectures for the IoTs
• Machine-to-machine communications
• Cloud, edge and fog computing integration
• Co-existence and heterogeneity support at the edge (HetNets)
• Energy efficiency for local and metropolitan area networking
• Information security for local and metropolitan area networking
• Intelligent routing and forwarding
• Named data networking
• Network and transport mechanisms for latency reduction
• Network virtualization in local and metropolitan area
• Packet scheduling
• Performance for local and metropolitan area networking
• Resilience and reliability for local and metropolitan area networking
• Software-defined networking in local and metropolitan area
IEEE LANMAN 2020 solicits paper submissions of Regular Papers (up to 6
pages) and Short Papers (up to 2 pages). Short papers will be presented
in a poster session. Also, some of the regular paper submissions may be
accepted as short papers by the TPC. The page limits include all
figures, tables, and references. All papers must be electronically
submitted in PDF according to the guidelines in the symposium website
http://www.ieee-lanman.org. The proceedings will be published in IEEE
Xplore and will include both short and regular papers presented at the
workshop. A Best Paper Award will be given to the paper(s) with the
highest technical merit.

Call for Papers
As cars become increasingly automated and connected, it is anticipated
travelling will be safer and more efficient. However, the natural
segregation of the two vehicle technology areas has been dragging our pace
towards that goal. Vehicular communications, or V2X, which enable vehicles
to exchange information in real time with each other and with other road
participants in a range of a few hundreds of meters, offers opportunities
to augment individual vehicles’ understanding of the environment and to
cooperate with the traffic in a more cohesive manner. But its protocol
design has largely been independent of actual automated/autonomous driving
applications. On the other hand, vehicle automation, a domain used to
leverage a vehicle’s own sensor suit to sense and operate, hasn’t gotten
many algorithms to handle over the air input of different granularities
regarding the environment. Novel cooperative automated driving applications
leveraging V2X data are needed.
This dedicated workshop concerns the most recent advancements in wireless
communications, sensory technologies and information processing. It aims to
advance solutions combining the power of wireless communications and
traditional vehicle automation for a safer, more efficient
automated/autonomous vehicle. Challenges, opportunities and benefits of
performing research in this interdisciplinary domain will be analyzed and
highlighted.
The workshop will invite distinguished speakers. It is expected to be
interactive. The technical areas of the workshop include, but not limited to
1) V2X communication protocol design, testing and evaluation
2) V2X assisted/enhanced applications
3) Vehicular cooperative sensory fusion
4) Cooperative automated driving, path planning and control
5) Network-augmented ADAS
*Paper Submission Guidelines*
Original papers are solicited. Papers must have not been published nor be
submitted for publication elsewhere. The workshop Technical Program
Committee will review all papers and make selection based on the quality of
the submission and its relevance to the workshop scope. Workshop papers
will be subject to the same formatting and length requirements as papers
for the regular technical sessions of VTC 2020-Fall (5-page limit for paper
submissions, plus a maximum of 2 additional pages for $100 per page for the
final version).

1st International Workshop on "Intelligent Things and Services"
(InThingS 2020)
http://inthings2020.unict.it
Jointly held with IEEE WoWMoM 2020, Cork, Ireland, 31 August - 3
September 2020
The conference will be held virtually, if holding a physical gathering
reveals to be difficult because of COVID-19 pandemic.
http://www.cs.ucc.ie/wowmom2020/
Building on the success of eight editions of the IEEE Workshop on the
Internet of Things: Smart Objects and Services (IoT-SoS), this year we
propose a workshop that looks ahead towards a vibrant future where a new
level of awareness arises from the IoT devices thanks to context,
cooperation, and federation, leading to a new revolution of Intelligent
Things and Services (InThingS) that will re-shape technology and society.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is shaping the evolution of the future
Internet by connecting people anytime and everywhere, as well as
inanimate objects. By providing objects with embedded communication
capabilities and a common addressing scheme, a highly distributed and
ubiquitous network of seamlessly connected heterogeneous devices is
formed, which can be fully integrated into the current Internet and
mobile networks, thus allowing for the development of new intelligent
services available anytime, anywhere, by anyone and anything. This year
we want to shed light on the use of machine learning tools to support
services and perform resource management in intelligent IoT scenarios.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together practitioners and
researchers from both academia and industry in order to have a forum for
discussion and technical presentations on the recent advances in theory,
application, and implementation of the Internet of Things concept with a
specific focus on the use of machine learning and/or artificial
intelligence techniques on technologies, protocols, algorithms, and
services.
Many applications with high social and business impact fall under the
IoT umbrella, including personal healthcare, smart grid, surveillance,
home automation, intelligent transportation, while it is expected that
new ones will emerge once the enabling technologies reach a stable
state. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Novel ML/AI for IoT devices and services: applications, services,
business processes, and enabling standards and technologies
- ML/AI techniques for devices with limited capabilities in terms of
computation, memory, storage, connectivity or energy, e.g., compressed
models and federated learning
- Distributed cloud technologies and algorithms; in-network computing
- System architectures and reference platforms enabling intelligent
things and services
- Modeling and simulation of large-scale scenarios of IoT devices and
services with embedded intelligence
- Testbeds, prototypes, and pilots for evaluation of intelligent things
and services in a realistic environment
- Solutions to increases trust in IoT devices and services: security,
privacy, governance, ownership, and accuracy of data and interactions
- Ethical issues with regard to the increasing intelligence of IoT
devices and services and their large-scale adoption
- Flexible and dynamic distribution of intelligence in the
thing-to-cloud continuum
The aim of this workshop is to bring together practitioners and
researchers from both academia and industry in order to have a forum for
discussion and technical presentations on the recent advances in theory,
application and implementation of the Internet of Things concept:
Technologies, protocols, algorithms, and services.

The wide deployment of tiny IoT devices to provide seamless and ubiquitous
connectivity with smart sensing paradigms calls for efficient resource
management at the edge. Edge devices of today range from tiny sensor nodes
to smartphones and now even flying UAVs. State-of-the-art applications at
these edge devices expect near-to-zero latency, high bandwidth, and
optimized resource management. Intelligent data processing, management, and
response mechanisms are specially needed in the challenged and remote
deployments where reaching cloud can consume considerable resources. For
current and future IoT applications, there exist vast, exciting, and
challenging opportunities for building a conducive edge ecosystem. We are
now living in an exciting era where machine learning intersects with almost
all major computing platforms. Our specific focus is on how to make edge
devices intelligent by leveraging learning techniques. With such
techniques, the need is to decouple centralized intelligence and develop
truly distributed edge applications that gives power to edge devices of
being truly independent to take key decisions on-the-fly.
The First IEEE Workshop on Distributed and Intelligent Computing at the
Edge (DICE) seeks exciting, innovative research related to the design,
implementation, and evaluation of small-scale as well as large-scale
systems that host applications at the network edge. With a broad focus on
