Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] CHANTS 2019 – abstract submission deadline (JUNE 14) - 14th Workshop on Challenged Networks – co-located with ACM Mobicom 2019 - Los Cabos, Mexico
CALL FOR PAPERS
The 14th Workshop on Challenged Networks (CHANTS 2019)
http://conferences.ece.unm.edu/chants2019/
colocated with ACM Mobicom 2019,
the 25th Annual International Conference on Mobile Computing and Networking
Oct 21-25, Los Cabos, Mexico
Scope and Overview
Challenged networks comprise those situations where communication is desired, but traditional Internet architectures fail to provide it effectively. Such networks may be characterized by intermittent connectivity, a heterogeneous mix of nodes, frequent nodal churn, and widely varying network conditions. The applications of challenged networks range from time-critical communications such as for disaster relief to delay-tolerant transmission in poorly connected regions or where censorship should be counteracted. However, challenged networking has also found many applications in everyday settings, for which they were not initially conceived, such as opportunistic networking supporting data-centric communications, traffic offloading from cellular networks, mobile cloud/edge computing, opportunistic and participatory sensing as well as challenged IoT.
CHANTS builds on the success of the thirteen previous CHANTS workshops and WDTN 2005, and aims to stimulate research on the most novel topics of challenged networking research. This year’s edition encourages submission of theoretical and experimental work (including studies of real deployment), with a primary interest in new directions of challenged networking in concrete application scenarios and demonstrators in areas such as autonomous driving, underwater robots, emergency response operations, underground mining, interplanetary missions, polar research and unmanned aerial vehicles. The workshop seeks original work presented in the form of research papers describing new research approaches and results, as well as demo and poster submissions. Highly disruptive work-in-progress and position papers are also welcome, provided they focus on particularly innovative solutions or applications for challenged networks. All papers shall be forward-looking, describe their relationship to existing work, and shall argue their impact and implications for ongoing or future research.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
● Delay/disruption-tolerant networks (DTNs), opportunistic communication and computing
● Modeling and analysis of challenged networks and protocols for challenged networks
● Communication systems and networks for underground mining
● Underwater communication systems and networks
● Security/trust/privacy concerns and solutions in challenged networks
● Networking in polar regions
● Millimeter Wave Networking
● Challenged networking techniques for mobile cloud computing and mobile data offloading

● User behavior modeling and Quality of Service provisioning in challenged networks
● Space-terrestrial networks, lunar networks as well as interplanetary networks
● Information-centric and content-centric networking in challenged networks
● Real-world mobility trace collection, analysis, and modeling for challenged environments
● Network coding in challenged networks
● Real deployment and case studies in various stages of use
● Configuration, management, and monitoring of challenged networks

*CALL FOR PAPERS*
*IEEE Internet of Things Journal*
*Special Issue on Privacy and Security in Distributed Edge Computing
and Evolving IoT*
Dear Colleagues,
I would like to invite you to submit your latest research results to
our Special Issue on Privacy and Security in Distributed Edge Computing
and Evolving IoT at IEEE Internet of Things Journal. Link:
http://jolfaei.info/IEEE-IoT-J.html
Overview:
Recent advances in artificial intelligence, edge computing, and big
data, have enabled extensive reasoning capabilities at the edge of the
network. Edge servers are now capable of extracting meaningful analytics
from IoT nodes, which give insights about unprecedented changes of
data-driven economy that finds applications in diverse sectors ranging
from smart manufacturing and smart transportation to predictive
maintenance and precision healthcare. Despite this ongoing advancement,
there are growing concerns regarding the privacy of data providers when
they grant edge applications direct access to their embedded sensors.
Data mining on genuine data could be harmful to data privacy. For
example, data mining on time-series data taken from motion sensors,
microphones, and GPS sensors could reveal users' activities,
demographics, attributes and daily interactions. This could potentially
lead to security/privacy concerns in many participatory and
opportunistic crowd-sensing applications, where a large group of
individuals having mobile devices capable of sensing and computing
collectively share data and extract information to measure, map,
analyze, estimate or infer any processes of common interest. While
privacy preserving has not been the initial focus of traditional data
analytics on edge servers, when used in domains such as cyber security,
there are incentivized, malicious adversaries present in the system
willing to game and exploit edge processing vulnerabilities.
This special issue focuses on solutions that leverage techniques and
insights from the domains of artificial intelligence, edge computing,
and big data to resolve privacy and security challenges in distributed
edge computing and evolving IoT applications. Topics of interest for
this special issue include, but are not limited to
• Optimization of the utility-privacy tradeoffs
• Privacy-preserving data aggregation
• Privacy-preserving data mining
• Privacy protection in edge computing assisted with evolving IoT
• Privacy-preserving solutions for crowdsensing
• Privacy preserving in presence of advanced persistent threats •
Privacy-enhancing cryptographic techniques • Multiparty access
control in edge computing assisted with evolving IoT
• Middleware for privacy protection in IoT applications
• Future perspectives of privacy issues in IoT applications

https://conferences.sigcomm.org/acm-icn/2019/cf-postersdemos.php
Call for Posters and Demos
The ICN poster and demo sessions are intended to showcase
works-in-progress. Topics of interest are the same as those listed in
the main track call for papers. We strongly encourage both student and
industry submissions. Both demos and posters should be accompanied by a
two-page extended abstract, which will be published in the conference
proceedings.
We specifically encourage submissions of posters and demos that are
accompanied with datasets. Such submissions will have a preferential
treatment during the review and will be eligible for special awards. The
aim is to collect and share datasets that can hopefully become a common
ground for evaluation in the ICN community.
The posters and demos submitted to ACM ICN 2019 must be original and
cannot be concurrently submitted to other workshops or conferences
during the ACM ICN 2019 poster/demo review period. All dual submissions
will be rejected without review.
Why should you submit a Poster or a Demo?
Presenting a poster is a great opportunity, especially for students, to
obtain interesting and valuable feedback on ongoing research from a
knowledgeable crowd at the conference. Accepted posters and demos will
be published as a two-page abstract for the archived conference
proceedings. Students who are submitting posters are highly encouraged
to examine if they are eligible for student travel grants.
Where to Submit?
Abstracts for posters and demos should be submitted via the ICN 2019
Posters and Demos submission website. Submissions will be reviewed
through a double-blind process, so please DO NOT include authors' names
and affiliations.

* Submissions Deadline July 29, 2019, 12am EDT
* Acceptance Notification August 16, 2019, 12am EDT
* Camera-ready due August 23, 2019, 12am EDT

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] JSAC Special Issue on Industrial Internet-of-Things
Special Issue
IEEE JSAC issue on Design and Analysis of Communication Interfaces for Industry 4
Call for Papers
The fourth industrial revolution also referred to as Industry 4.0 aims to integrate advanced manufacturing techniques with the Internet-of-Things (IoT) to create an agile digital manufacturing ecosystem. The key idea is to provide a higher level of automation by combining technologies such as Industrial IoT (IIoT), cloud computing, machine learning (ML) and advanced robotics to enable the creation of interconnected, responsive, intelligent and self-optimizing manufacturing processes and systems. The increased automation can:
Significantly enhance operational efficiency through real-time process analytics or even end-to-end process control.
Significantly enhance overall productivity by realizing zero-downtime through proactive maintenance via the implementation of ‘digital twins'.
Implementation of either real-time process analytics or digital twining is geared to generate a huge volume of heterogeneous data flows. Consequently, the design of communication interfaces to support inter-connectivity must be optimized to enable convergence between legacy operations technology (OT) and next-generation IIoT.
This special issue solicits original research papers focused on Design and Analysis of:
Ultra-reliable Low-Latency Connectivity Interfaces for IIoT Networks
Spectrum Management and Coexistence Issues for IIoT Networks
Architecture and Protocols for IIoT Networks
Novel ML methods for implementing Self-X capabilities in IIoT Networks
Resource Allocation and Management for IIoT Networks
Security, Privacy and Trust issues in IIoT deployments
Interoperability and Convergence Issues for legacy OT and IIoT Networks
Application and Deployment Specific Issues for IIoT Networks
Submission Guidelines
All submissions have to be prepared according to the Information for Authors as published in the Journal website and must be submitted via EDAS.
