***Call for Papers***
Raising awareness on the provision of public safety services through the
most diverse ICT technologies is a key opportunity and one of the most
urgent challenges in the field of today's communication networks.
Relevant scenarios include the natural disasters such as earthquakes,
fires or floods that disrupt traditional communication infrastructures,
or that displace large crowds, overloading what is left of the
communication infrastructure. In these scenarios, people are in need of
directions, advice, updates on the current situation and they often need
to send out requests for help or to make their location known to rescue
teams. Ideally, users should be able to communicate directly between
themselves, even in the absence of a cellular infrastructure - a common
occurrence in disaster scenarios. However, it is also crucial that
solutions and platforms are developed to integrate emergency management
data coming from multiple sources, including feeds provided by citizens
through social media and crowdsourcing.
The I-TENDER workshop will aim at capturing the research and technology
trends that enable such awareness by soliciting contributions along
three main directions. First, solutions that leverage the widespread
availability of handheld devices (smartphone, tablets) that act as the
prime contact point to alert the population of impending dangers and as
a locating device for rescue teams. Secondly, data analysis techniques
that take into account the pervasive role of social networks in
collecting and spreading information and provide accurate checking using
appropriate tools. And, finally, emerging networking paradigms that go
beyond the traditional infrastructure-based model, rather leveraging
disruption-tolerant models and device-to-device communication, such as
Wi-Fi direct and LTE-D2D. The workshop seeks original work presented in
the form of research papers describing new research approaches and
results. Highly disruptive work-in-progress and position papers are
welcome, provided they focus on particularly innovative solutions or
applications for emergency and disaster relief. We also invite authors
to submit papers presenting extensive experiences with implementation,
deployment, and operation.
Topics of interest for the workshop include, but are not limited to:
+ Challenged networks (e.g., disaster relief and emergency management)
+ Network systems for emergency scenarios (e.g., UAV-supported base

CFP: IEEE Internet of Things Journal Special Issue on Towards Positioning,
Navigation, and Location Based Services (PNLBS) for Internet of Things
2016 Impact Factor: 7.596
Scope and Objective
In the past decade, technological advancements have facilitated the
manufacturing of compact, inexpensive, and low-power consuming receivers
and sensors for smart devices (e.g., GPS, WiFi, MEMS sensors, RFID, UWB,
BLE, etc.). This arises the fast development of Positioning, Navigation and
Location Based Services (PNLBS), and leads them become much broader than
just providing a location or navigation.
These positioning technologies and their enabling integrated systems have
been promoted into the IoT world such as asset tracking, autonomous
parking, virtual reality, context awareness, condition monitoring,
geolocation, smart manufacturing, as well as smart cities. In fact, PNLBS
have become indispensable to the future of IoT. On the other hand, IoT
systems create limitless possibilities for PNLBS, due to their
sophisticated cloud computing technologies, powerful big data analysis, and
embedded multi-sensors.
The aim of IoT architectures for provisioning of PNLBS is to design an
accurate, low-cost, low-power, reliable, and scalable solution for
cutting-edge applications. To achieve this goal, several challenges should
be addressed, such as improving positioning accuracy, reducing the power
cost, handling to track millions of devices as well as transmitting and
processing big data. Therefore, the research is required to conduct on not
only PNLBS algorithms, but also new IoT architectures and chip design
technologies. Extensive research efforts have been paid either on PNLBS
algorithms, or IoT architectures and chip design. However, research efforts
on their combination remain open and require further investigations, such
as how to accurately track millions of devices by consuming low power, how
to use IoT technique (e.g., crowdsourcing) to automatically generate
wireless fingerprinting database for positioning, how to design low-power
positioning chip/system suitable for IoT architectures, etc.
The goal of this Special Issue is to solicit the latest unpublished work on
PNLBS for IoT. The areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the
following:
Scalable IoT architectures for asset tracking
Geo-centric cloud/edge computing in IoT
Security and privacy in PNLBS
Low-power chip/system design for positioning in IoT
Crowdsourcing for positioning in IoT
Machine learning for location estimation in IoT
Multi-sensors fusion for IoT
Wireless localization technologies (WiFi, BLE, RFID, UWB, etc.) in IoT
MEMS sensors for localization and context awareness in IoT
Advanced estimation theories for positioning in IoT
Control and navigation technologies for autonomous system (e.g., UAV,
driverless vehicle, etc.) in IoT
Location based services for smart city (e.g., ehealth, smart home, smart
transportation, etc.) applications in IoT

* Special Issue on Intelligent Transportation Communication Systems *
There is a phenomenal growth of research activities in connecting
vehicles, which use advanced information and communication technologies
to connect vehicles with various devices (V2X), infrastructures (V2I),
services (V2V), and participants (V2P). Connected vehicles have been
envisioned to provide enabling key technologies to enhance
transportation efficiency, reducing incidents, improving safety, and
mitigating the impacts of traffic congestion. The potential of connected
vehicles has been acknowledged with the establishment of ambitious

*Scope and Objective*
The areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the
following:
- Scalable IoT architectures for asset tracking
- Geo-centric cloud/edge computing in IoT
- Security and privacy in PNLBS
- Low-power chip/system design for positioning in IoT
- Crowdsourcing for positioning in IoT
- Machine learning for location estimation in IoT
- Multi-sensors fusion for IoT
- Wireless localization technologies (WiFi, BLE, RFID, UWB, etc.) in IoT
- MEMS sensors for localization and context awareness in IoT
- Advanced estimation theories for positioning in IoT
- Control and navigation technologies for autonomous system (e.g., UAV,
driverless vehicle, etc.) in IoT
- Location based services for smart city (e.g., ehealth, smart home,
smart transportation, etc.) applications in IoT

The THEME
---------------
Energy Informatics is emerging as a new and inter-disciplinary research
field. The main goal is to tackle the future global warming, energy
crisis, and climate change challenges by exploiting advanced ICT
theories and tools to address energy-related problems. The scope of
Energy Informatics includes the next-generation communications,
networking, computing, sensing and control technologies (e.g., big data,
machine learning, 5G, cloud computing, fog computing); and their
applications in the energy sectors (e.g., smart cities, smart grid,
electric vehicles, and PV systems). In the past decade, we have
witnessed a rapid development and application of advanced informatics
technologies (information, communications, and networking technologies)
to realize sustainable smart cities, covering many successful examples
such as green buildings, smart homes, distributed microgrid systems, and
green transportation systems. When equipped with advanced ICT
technologies, buildings and homes are able to significantly improve
energy efficiency, reliability, and security in grid operations, while
satisfying users’ comfort, and thus benefitting all stakeholders, namely
energy consumers, utility companies, and energy generators. Moreover,
distributed microgrid systems facilitate the deep integration of
renewable energy and promote an efficient, secure, and economic
exploitation of renewable energy resources. The rapid development of
informatics technologies also leads to the success of green
transportation systems, driving an exponential growth in using electric
vehicles. A variety of recent advanced informatics technologies play
important and indispensable roles in green transportation systems, and
enable the joint management of energy flows, information flows, as well
as transportation flows.

[Apologies if you got multiple copies of this invitation]
Submission Deadline: 10 December 2017
IEEE Access invites manuscript submissions in the area of Convergence of
Sensor Networks, Cloud Computing, and Big Data in Industrial Internet of
Things.
With growing attention from both academia and industry, industrial
Internet of things (IIoT), comprised of a multitude of connected
devices, is supposed to monitor, collect, exchange, analyze, and further
instantly act on information to intelligently change the industrial
device’s behaviour or the industrial environment (e.g., autonomous
reaction to unexpected changes in production by effectively detecting
failures and triggering maintenance processes). In consideration of this
goal, the convergence of sensor networks, cloud computing, and big data
in IIoT is recently identified as an essential component. Specifically,
sensor networks are deployed to capture various data in IIoT. Meanwhile,
cloud computing platforms are developed to store and process data
powerfully in IIoT. Moreover, big data analytics tools are utilized to
glean valuable findings from the massive data in IIoT.
However, to integrate sensor networks, cloud computing, and big data in
IIoT in a robust way, there are a lot of tough issues to be solved with
respect to various aspects (e.g., framework, power efficiency, security,
quality of service, etc.). Therefore, this Special Section in IEEE
Access aims to solicit original technical papers with novel
contributions on the convergence of sensor networks, cloud computing,
and big data in IIoT. Review or survey type articles will also be
considered. Submissions should focus on the convergence (i.e., the
contemporaneous utilization of at least two of the three technologies –
sensor networks, cloud computing, and big data in IIoT). Submissions
that work on the experimental implementation of the convergence of
sensor networks, cloud computing, and big data in IIoT are especially
welcome.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Frameworks that integrate sensor networks, cloud computing, and
big data in IIoT
* Data gathering in the convergence of sensor networks, cloud
computing, and big data in IIoT
* Green mechanisms that integrate sensor networks, cloud computing,
and big data in IIoT
* Data communication in the convergence of sensor networks, cloud
computing, and big data in IIoT
* Security techniques that integrate sensor networks, cloud
computing, and big data in IIoT
* Data computing in the convergence of sensor networks, cloud
computing, and big data in IIoT
* Quality of service enhancement methods that integrate sensor
networks, cloud computing, and big data in IIoT
* Data fusion in the convergence of sensor networks, cloud
computing, and big data in IIoT
* Novel applications that integrate sensor networks, cloud
computing, and big data in IIoT
* Data mining in the convergence of sensor networks, cloud
computing, and big data in IIoT
We also highly recommend the submission of multimedia with each article
as it significantly increases the visibility, downloads, and citations
of articles.
