Please accept our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this CFP. ========================================================================== ========================================================================== CFP for the Special Issue in the Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies Journal on "High Performance Mobile Opportunistic Systems" Scope ================================== Opportunistic networks are an emerging networking paradigm where communication between the source and destination occurs on-the-fly and depends on the availability of communication resources. Opportunistic communication paradigm heavily benefits from the heterogeneous networking and communication infrastructure that currently exist, e.g., mobile networks, P2P networks, with the supporting technologies in data management and system interoperability. The SI aims at presenting state-of-the-art research and future trends in mobile and heterogeneous opportunistic networking and application paradigms, combining the mobile communication, mobility and resource management field, and scientifically presents the various concepts that contribute to enable high performance computing in these environments. The Demo session will be co-located with the Poster session to ensure maximum visibility and a close interaction between presenters and participants. WIVEC2013 seeks demo proposals covering innovative technologies, platforms, analysis and testing tools as well as applications related to wireless vehicular communications. Submissions describing mature systems, proof-of-concept platforms and prototypes - developed for commercial use or for research purposes, from industries or universities - are encouraged. Demonstrations will be selected based on their novelty, technical quality, and attractiveness of the demonstrated system. Doctoral students working in areas related to wireless, mobile and multimedia networking are solicited to submit an extended abstract comprising a summary of their research findings, work in progress and planned research. The forum will be a platform for PhD students to interact both with their peers as well as experienced researchers from industry. The forum will be organized as a poster session and will include a '1-minute madness' introduction by each student. Current Ph.D. students are encouraged to submit extended abstracts. The Ph.D. student should be the sole author, although contributions of the advisor and others may be acknowledged in the extended abstract. Submissions will be reviewed to ensure quality and relevance. Authors of accepted submissions are expected to attend WoWMoM 2013 and present their poster at the PhD Forum. The best presentation at the Forum will receive an award, and there is likely to be travel assistance for some students. Accepted extended abstracts will appear in conference proceedings. Extended Abstract Submission: Ph.D. students are invited to submit two-page extended abstracts that describe current research and potential contributions to theory and innovation in mobile and wireless computing/communications, multimedia on mobile networks and closely related areas. Marco and Martin ------------------ We have the pleasure to announce that the 32nd IEEE INFOCOM CALL for DEMO and POSTER session is available on the IEEE infocom website http://infocom.di.unimi.it/index.php/callfordemosposters.html IMPORTANT DATES 2-page demo/poster abstract due by: 11:59pm (EST), December 15th, 2012 Notification of acceptance: January 20th, 2013 Camera ready: February 1st, 2013 Demo/Posters Session dates: April 17th 2013 We are soliciting technical demonstrations showing innovative and original research. IEEE INFOCOM is interested in demonstrations of technology that validate important research issues and results, or showcase realistic applications. 2013 IEEE INFOCOM will offer a large space and visibility to allow the presentation of Demos and Posters. Topics of interest are the same as research topics of IEEE INFOCOM, see the main conference call for papers (http://infocom.di.unimi.it/index.php/callforpapers.html) A *competition* among demonstrations will be running, where attendees will be offered the chance to vote for the best demonstration. The winner will be awarded by an Apple iPad engraved with the IEEE Infocom 2013 Best Demo Award. Abstracts describing the Demo and Posters will be indexed by IEEE-Xplore and will be distributed with the official conference proceedings. Authors must be present during the Demo and Poster sessions. No show will preclude publication in IEEE-Xplore. Authors are invited to submit a poster/demo via Edas. We welcome submission whose primary contribution is from one or more students. The IEEE INFOCOM 2013 Poster and Demo committee will review all posters and demos proposals, providing feedback to authors. Please consult the Demo/Posters Co-Chairs if you are uncertain whether your demo/poster falls within the scope of the conference. DEMO SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS Submissions should not exceed a two-page abstract/proposal in PDF format adhering to INFOCOM submission guidelines. Be as specific as possible in describing what you will demonstrate/show. Try to be succinct, focused and to capture the curiosity of the readers. Demos and Posters will be located along the main corridor, offering great visibility to authors of accepted works. The demo session will offer power (Italian electric sockets, bring your own adapters!), wireless and wired Internet connectivity. Each demo will be located in a 2.5mx4.5m area already equipped with tables and closets where to store devices, and an A0 poster stand. Posters will be offered an A0 poster stand. If a demonstration requires special arrangements, please send an email to Prof. Marco Mellia ( mellia(a)tlc.polito.it) to ensure it can be arranged. The exponential growth in deployment of these technologies has made them large-scale energy consumers. Therefore, new architectures, technologies and systems are being developed and deployed to make computing and networked system more energy efficient. Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, these technologies are at the center of the on-going revolution in next-generation 'smart' and sustainable energy systems. They measure, monitor and control energy systems such as the smart grid; inform and shape human demand; aid in the prediction, deployment, storage and control of energy resources; and determine how utilities, generators, regulators, and consumers measure, analyze, and collectively control system elements. The fourth International Conference on Future Energy Systems (ACM e-Energy), to be held in Berkeley, CA in May 2013, aims to be the premier venue for researchers working in the broad areas of computing and communication for smart energy systems (including the smart grid), and in energy-efficient computing and communication systems. By bringing together researchers in a high-quality single-track conference with significant opportunities for individual and small-group interaction, it will serve as a major forum for presentations and discussions that will shape the future of this area. We solicit high-quality papers in the area of computing and communication for the Smart Grid and energy-efficient computing and communications. We welcome submissions describing theoretical advances as well as system design, implementation and experimentation. ACM e-Energy is committed to a fair, timely, and thorough review process providing authors of submitted papers with sound and detailed feedback.
