Betreff: [Tccc] IEEE Infocom DEMO and Poster session
Dear Colleagues,
We have the pleasure to announce that the 32nd IEEE INFOCOM CALL
for DEMO and POSTER session is available on the IEEE infocom website
http://infocom.di.unimi.it/index.php/callfordemosposters.html
IMPORTANT DATES
2-page demo/poster abstract due by: 11:59pm (EST), December 15th, 2012
Notification of acceptance: January 20th, 2013
Camera ready: February 1st, 2013
Demo/Posters Session dates: April 17th 2013
We are soliciting technical demonstrations showing innovative and original research.
IEEE INFOCOM is interested in demonstrations of technology that validate
important research issues and results, or showcase realistic applications.
2013 IEEE INFOCOM will offer a large space and visibility to allow the presentation
of Demos and Posters.
Topics of interest are the same as research topics of IEEE INFOCOM, see the main
conference call for papers (http://infocom.di.unimi.it/index.php/callforpapers.html)
A *competition* among demonstrations will be running, where attendees will be
offered the chance to vote for the best demonstration. The winner will be awarded
by an Apple iPad engraved with the IEEE Infocom 2013 Best Demo Award.
Abstracts describing the Demo and Posters will be indexed by IEEE-Xplore
and will be distributed with the official conference proceedings. Authors must be
present during the Demo and Poster sessions. No show will preclude publication
in IEEE-Xplore. Authors are invited to submit a poster/demo via Edas.
We welcome submission whose primary contribution is from one or more students.
The IEEE INFOCOM 2013 Poster and Demo committee will review
all posters and demos proposals, providing feedback to authors.
Please consult the Demo/Posters Co-Chairs if you are uncertain
whether your demo/poster falls within the scope of the conference.
DEMO SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Submissions should not exceed a two-page abstract/proposal in PDF format
adhering to INFOCOM submission guidelines. Be as specific as possible
in describing what you will demonstrate/show. Try to be succinct, focused
and to capture the curiosity of the readers.
Demos and Posters will be located along the main corridor, offering great
visibility to authors of accepted works. The demo session will offer power
(Italian electric sockets, bring your own adapters!), wireless and wired Internet
connectivity. Each demo will be located in a 2.5mx4.5m area already
equipped with tables and closets where to store devices, and an A0
poster stand. Posters will be offered an A0 poster stand.
If a demonstration requires special arrangements, please send an email to
Prof. Marco Mellia ( mellia(a)tlc.polito.it) to ensure it can be arranged.
Submissions must be made via EDAS conference management system.

Special Issue on Wireless Networks Intrusion
*http://www.journals.elsevier.com/journal-of-computer-and-system-sciences/*
*
*Overview:
*
The security mechanisms for various wired networks are more or less
well-defined. Especially when intrusion detection and prevention techniques
are considered, wired networks appear to be in a much better status than
their wireless counterparts. Indeed, security concerns are, still, a
significant impediment to widespread adoption of wireless
networktechnologies. Because of the use of
wireless communications technology, structure of the wireless networks,
limited resources available on wireless devices, and open nature of
wirelesscommunications, employing an effective and efficient
intrusion detection and prevention system for detecting and thwarting
malicious attacks against wireless communication still remains a great
challenge to researchers. On the other side, recent increase in the
interest in anywhere, anytime, anybody’s network with the aid of
wirelessself-organizing
networks has made the demand of effective intrusion detection and
prevention techniques even more critical. We consider four types of wireless
networks under wireless self-organizing networks (SON) category: Mobile Ad
Hoc Network (MANET), Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), Wireless Mesh
Network(WMN), and Vehicular Ad Hoc
Network (VANET). The status quo of these networks lacks standardized
mechanisms for intrusion detection and prevention. In particular for WSN,
with limited resources of the involved tiny sensor nodes, employing such
defensive and/or preventive mechanisms is, indeed, a tough challenge. If
the system is distributed, the nodes may not be able to run the system; if
centralized and controlled by the base station, the system may not serve
the actual purpose of intrusion handling within the actual deployed network.
We are interested, in this Special Issue, to put together the latest
advancements in these related areas and to get the thoughts of the
researchers, practitioners, and users of these technologies. The articles
could be from the theory and/or practical perspectives. Extensive review
articles on specific topics are most welcome. The articles are expected to
touch up on any of the four types of SONs, namely MANET, WSN, WMN, and
VANET. The targeted topics for this special issue are (though the list
should not be considered exhaustive):
- Intrusion detection schemes
- Intrusion prevention schemes
- Tracing back mobile attackers
- Secure routing with intrusion prevention
- Access control
- Authentication mechanisms
- Resource efficient intrusion detection & prevention
- Anomaly detection
- Specification based detection
- Misuse detection
- Intrusion detection vs Intrusion prevention
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) based techniques
- Game theory based techniques
- Physical intrusion in WSN
- Cross-layer based intrusion detection
- Agent based intrusion surveillance, detection and prevention

CALL FOR PAPERS
***********************************************************************
The 4th Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Wireless Networks
& Wireless Networks for Energy Efficiency (E2Nets'13)
In conjunction with IEEE Intl. Conference on Communications (ICC'13)
Budapest, Hungary, June 9-13, 2013.

Abstract Registration: January 4, 2013
Paper Submission Deadline: January 11, 2013
Notification of Acceptance: February 22, 2013
Camera-Ready Submission: March 8, 2013
Scope
*****
The two seemingly distinct topics of E2Nets are very important for
overall energy efficiency in the future. Instead of looking at them
separately, it is useful to arrange a venue for the researchers and
practitioners in these two fields to come together and interact. This
workshop aims to build this cooperation.
Energy Efficiency in Wireless Networks: According to a GESI study, the
ICT sector contributes around 2% of global greenhouse gas emissions. To
increase the competitiveness, energy efficiency (E2) must also be a
design criterion of the network and service architectures. Flexible
networks that adapt their capacity to the requirements can lead to
significant energy savings. Novel networking paradigms need to be
introduced to assure that all components are used with maximum
utilization. E2 network architectures will be the cross-layer, cognitive
and cooperative aggregation of techniques and mechanisms to provide a
communication infrastructure where the energy consumption is minimized
while guaranteeing the grade of service required by the applications.
Along with energy efficiency, spectrum utilization is to be optimized
and radiation is to be minimized.
Topics
******
In this workshop, the following topics of energy efficiency in wireless
networks are considered:
* Physical layer techniques, channel/network coding for energy efficiency

CALL FOR PAPERS
Elsevier - Computer Communications Journal
Special Issue on Opportunistic Networking
Submission Deadline: February 10, 2013
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The widespread availability of mobile portable devices enriched with a
variety of sensing capabilities, coupled with the impelling need of
communication anytime and anywhere, has rapidly raised the interest
towards new approaches to communications between users. Opportunistic
networks are an instance of the delay tolerant paradigm applied to
networks made up of users' portable devices (such as smartphones and
tablets). As such, they are able to cope with challenged network
conditions that are often present in real life, such as high node
mobility, variable connectivity, and disconnections, which would impair
communications in traditional Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. In this scenario,
user mobility becomes one of the main drivers to enable message
delivery. In fact, according to the store-carry-and-forward paradigm,
user devices store messages and carry them around while they move in the
network, exchanging them upon encounter with other nodes, and eventually
delivering them to their destination or to interested users. This new
communication paradigm enables legacy applications in challenged
scenarios, as well as it paves the way to innovative solutions. While
opportunistic networks initially received attention to support
communication where an infrastructure is not available (for disaster
recovery or in rural areas), nowadays a number of applications can be
envisaged ranging from content sharing, through mobile social
networking, to participatory and urban sensing. All these applications
rely on data forwarding amongst devices. As a consequence, two aspects
become relevant, that is, the need for mechanisms guaranteeing trusted
and secure communications while preserving users' privacy (in the
absence of infrastructure and sometimes even end-to-end connectivity),
and incentive mechanisms able to boost the participation in the network.
This Special Issue of Computer Communications seeks contributions
pushing the state of the art in Opportunistic Networking. Topics of
interest include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Mobility measurements and models, mobility trace analysis
- Measurements, models, and analysis for user behaviors on mobile devices
- Unicast and multicast routing
- Transport, congestion control, and reliability issues
- Content dissemination, content caching, service composition,
opportunistic computing
- Trust, security & privacy in opportunistic forwarding, incentive
mechanisms, reputation systems, and key management
- Application support and middleware for opportunistic networks
- New applications and services relying on opportunistic networking
- Systems and experience for real-world deployments

The 11th International Conference on Mobile Systems,
Applications, and Services (MobiSys 2013)
Sponsored by ACM SIGMOBILE
June 25 - 28, 2013
Taipei, Taiwan
http://www.sigmobile.org/mobisys/2013/
--------------------------------------------------------
MobiSys 2013 will continue the tradition of publishing top-notch
research papers dealing with all aspects of mobile systems. MobiSys
seeks original papers that take a broad systems perspective rather
than focus narrowly on low-level components. Of particular interest
are technical contributions that enable new and compelling mobile
scenarios and applications. The conference values results and insights
obtained from working implementations more highly than those
obtained solely from simulations.
