These nodes are deeply embedded into the physical surroundings, and gather and process information such as temperature, humidity, light characteristics, seismic activities or images and sound samples from the physical world. Networked systems of such sensors are expected to be used in a variety of applications including habitat monitoring, precision agriculture, disaster recovery operations, healthcare and supply chain management. Real-world sensor network deployments are still scarce, yet prototypic implementations are getting more common, particularly with the advent of novel sensing platforms such as smartphones, which allow for extending dedicated sensor networks. Experiences gained in such deployments are crucial for the sensor network research community. These results are needed to refine assumptions made when designing hardware, software, protocols and mechanisms for sensor networks. This workshop aims at bringing together researchers from both academia and industry to showcase their work and obtain feedback. We expect the workshop to act as a forum for the sensor network research community to discuss open issues, novel solutions and the future development of wireless sensor networks in general. We encourage contributions describing innovative work in the realm of wireless sensor networks. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Experiences from real-world sensor network deployment and applications - Innovative sensor network applications - Mobile and participatory sensing applications and deployments - Middleware support for sensor networks - Programming and debugging sensor networks - Security, availability and dependability issues in sensor networks - Experiences with new sensor hardware - Practical problems in implementing localization and time synchronization - Experiences with communication protocols - Practical medium access control protocols (MACs) - Topology control and routing protocols in existing sensor network deployments - Fault-tolerance and troubleshooting sensor networks - Antenna design and experiences with signal propagation - Experiences regarding energy management and network lifetime - Configuration and installation support - Management of large-scale sensor networks and sensing campaigns - Interconnection between IP and sensor networks - Interfacing with sensor networks using mobile computing devices - Large-scale open sensor data sets from real deployments Submitted papers will be reviewed by three independent experts in the field. Proceedings of the workshop will be published together with those of IEEE LCN, and will be available in digital format from the IEEE Explore Digital Library. At the same time, several new networking and radio technologies (e.g., dynamic spectrum access, UWB) are emerging to address the performance limitations of existing technologies and make wireless networking more ubiquitous. Realistic evaluation of such a diverse set of technologies and their mutual interactions will play a major role in identifying the key performance bottlenecks, thus shaping future advances in wireless technology. The importance of testbed-based evaluation of wireless network protocols/applications as well as characterization of real-world aspects using traces from operational networks is gaining wider recognition in the mobile and wireless networking research community. This workshop intends to bring together researchers working in the broad area of experiment! al wireless networking. This workshop will serve as a forum to share new ideas/experiences in all experimental aspects of wireless networks and systems, and facilitate discussions of key unresolved challenges in this area. We are seeking original, previously unpublished papers addressing experimental wireless networking issues. All submissions will be judged by their technical merit and relevance to the workshop, based on a thorough review process by the Technical Program Committee. Apart from regular paper presentations, the workshop program will include an interactive session with demos and posters. We welcome demonstrations of novel wireless network testbed capabilities and measurement results. The posters may describe work in progress and offers an excellent opportunity for feedback and discussions on early research. Internet data traffic continues to grow rapidly. The challenge that operators face, especially in the mobile Internet, is to support more subscribers with higher bandwidth demands. Therefore, operators need to seek for new technologies to efficiently utilize the available network resources, in particular, this concerns resource allocation and flow management. In wireless networks, the problem is particularly relevant due to the inherently limited resources, which render a simple "throwing bandwidth at the problem" solution impossible. The higher rate of optical technology in access networks introduces the potential for capacity sharing problems to move closer to the core, while passive optical networks move sharing problems closer to the end-user (more like cable and radio access networks). Data centers typically employ yet another type of network with different characteristics -- and different tools for capacity sharing. Addressing this topic correctly is not trivial as there are different interests to consider: operators naturally want to be able exercise control on how the network is used, avoid service disruptions and account for network usage. Users are interested to use different applications and expect a certain level of service quality, consistent experience etc. Many applications today are provided by so-called over-the-top (OTT) providers -- in conjunction with web-services, smart-phone applications etc. These applications and the corresponding platforms are important drivers for innovation and sources of revenue -- although there is controversy over whether enough revenue is directed into capacity growth. Still, application providers are interested in their application working with sufficient quality. In addition, there is regulation that can impose additional requirements in some markets, such as availability requirements, network neutrality etc. The objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers in the area of transport protocols, system designers of fixed and mobile access networks, and their applications to advance the state of research on capacity sharing. We solicit contributions on the state-of-the-art, results of ongoing research, open issues, trends and new ideas.
