ICNP 2012, the 20th ICNP, will be held in Austin, Texas, in late fall, 2012. Papers with significant research contributions to the field of network protocols are solicited for submission. Papers cannot be previously published nor under review by another conference or journal. Papers containing plagiarized material will be subject to the IEEE plagiarism policy and will be rejected without review. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * All aspects of network protocol research including design, specification, verification, implementation, measurement, testing, and analysis * Domain-specific solutions, including protocols for network security, routing, user privacy, and network management * Protocols spanning the hardware and solution stack for wireless, mobile, sensor, mesh networks * Application-layer protocols for peer-to-peer systems, social networks, and emerging systems Papers must deal specifically with aspects of network protocol research. Papers on general networking where network protocols are only a secondary focus will be considered only if they are of exceptional quality. ICNP will select an accepted full paper for the best paper award. ICNP 2012 will use a double-blind review process. Papers should adhere to the IEEE Computer Society format and should not exceed 10 pages. Authors are expected to present accepted papers at the conference; at least one registration per-paper is required in order for the paper to appear in the conference proceedings and the IEEE digital library. In particular, both wireless sensors operating in relation with transportation systems are instrumental in the development of applications, including e.g., parking monitoring, real-time traffic information, routing, warning as well as decision-making aided transportation. The lesson learned constructing such applications is that transport systems are particularly exposed to environmental perturbations, unreliable wireless medium of communication, high mobility-driven instability. During this era, there has been a tremendous growth in this field with many new techniques and standards have been developed for the ease and safety of the passengers. Now, the passengers during travelling can take smart decisions by knowing the outside environment variables such as traffic conditions, density of the vehicles in a particular region, duration of traffic lights in a particular areas, etc. Moreover, these passengers can download and upload the heavy contents while travelling with the aid of the already deployed Road Side Unit (RSUs) which are connected to Internet to provide various services to the end users. Modern Vehicles equipped with sensor nodes monitor and collect the data in sparse and dense regions which can be processed for the benefit of community of peoples, e.g., health monitoring and diagnostic systems, safety alarms, intelligent transport systems, and environment monitoring. The vehicles during movement, equipped with sensor nodes, can also collect the data from human body and that data can be processed in collaboration with the other vehicles for various medical purposes. In this case, VANETs can also be used in Body Sensor Networks (BSNs). However, as a new technology emerges, it throws new challenges to the research community. Although there exist many solutions of different kinds in the relevant areas, there is still a requirement of more efficient solutions which can be used in wide variety of applications. Many industrial and academic institutions have already geared up to provide solutions for the benefits of the community. Moreover, there are many constraints that have to be resolved before providing any standard solution. This conference will explore and explain the scope and challenges of designing, building, and deploying BodyNets. In this regard, the conference aims to establish a forum to exchange ideas, discuss practices, raise awareness, and share experiences among researchers and practitioners in the field of computer science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, medicine, and other disciplines in both academia and industry. This conference also allows authors to present new and emerging trends to address the technical, social, system and application issues related to BodyNets. The Conference continues its tradition of being the premier forum for presentation of results on cutting-edge research in BodyNets. While the mission of the conference is to share novel basic research ideas as well as experimental applications in the BodyNets area in addition to identifying new directions for future research and development the new scientific topics such as nano communication networks, bio-inspired networks, molecular networks, etc. will be considered. BodyNets 2012 will give researchers a unique opportunity to share their perspectives with others interested in the various aspects from molecular to micro level communication to novel applications in medicine, gaming to automobile industry.
