> Betreff: [Tccc] **DEADLINE** CFP - IEEE ICC 2012 Workshop on Novel approaches to Energy Measurement and Evaluation in Wireless Networks
>
> NovaEnEv --- First International Workshop on Novel approaches to Energy
> Measurement and Evaluation in Wireless Networks ---- in conjunction with
> ICC 2012, June 10.-15., Ottawa, Canada
>

>
> Scope:
>
> Energy efficiency is an omnipresent topic in the field of wireless
> network research. However, realistic evaluations in real-world
> deployments are challenging and very time consuming. Furthermore, it
> lacks of adequate tools. These are reasons for prior work to
> oversimplify, causing imprecise results. With recent advances in
> simulator tools as well as an increasing number of testbeds the next
> step in evaluating energy efficiency is now feasible: realistic
> evaluations of energy efficiency.
>
> NovaEnEv brings together researchers interested in a more realistic
> evaluation of energy efficiency and energy consumption of architectures,
> protocols, and applications in wireless networks. NovaEnEv serves as a
> forum to share ideas how to perform realistic evaluations and to
> facilitate discussions of unresolved challenges in this area. Please
> provide original, previously unpublished papers addressing realistic
> evaluations with focus on energy efficiency, energy consumption, and
> energy usage characteristics. Topics of interest include, but are not
> limited to:
>
> - Realistic design and evaluation of energy efficient protocols in
> wireless ad-hoc and sensor networks
> - Energy-aware protocols and applications
> - Testbeds with focus on energy evaluation
> - Usage of testbeds to measure energy consumption in real-world deployments
> - Energy measurement methodologies and concepts
> - Integration of energy measurements into evaluations
> - Comparison of simulative vs. testbed evaluations
> - Modeling and validation of energy models
> - Hardware profiling
> - Experiences and lessons learned from real-world evaluations
>
>
> Contribution format:
> The authors are encouraged to submit full papers describing original,
> previously unpublished, complete research, not currently under review by
> another conference or journal, addressing state-of-the-art research and
> development. All submissions should be written in English with a maximum
> paper length of six (6) printed pages (10-point font) including
> figures. Submissions longer than 6 pages will not be considered.
>
> Paper submission:
>
> Preliminary Schedule
> - Full Paper Submission: Nov. 30, 2011
> - Notification of Acceptance: Feb. 1, 2012
> - Camera-ready version + Author Registration: Apr. 1, 2012

University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal, June 4-5, 2012
http://www.ieee-iwqos.org/
Quality of Service (QoS) in communication systems has been a long lasting research focus worldwide. The twenty-year history of IWQoS has established it as a highly reputable forum to present novel ideas on all research subjects related to the topic. While QoS research for future generations of wired and wireless networks continues to attract much interest, recent exploration of data centers, virtualization, cloud computing, cloud services, industrial communication, and “green” computing has motivated a new wave of research interest in QoS and its related metrics such as Quality of Experience (QoE) and Quality of Protection (QoP). The scope of IWQoS 2010 covers both theoretical and experimental research on QoS, QoE, QoP and related issues such as survivability, availability, reliability, security, privacy, pricing, resource provisioning and management, user experience, and system performance guarantees. Topics of interest include QoS issues in (but not limited to) the following
areas:
* Quality of cloud services and cloud computing
* Quality of protection, quality experience, security and privacy
* System dependability, availability; resilience and robustness to faults and security attacks
* Scheduling, resource management, queue management, admission control;
* Traffic engineering approaches and tools for provisioning and evaluation
* Quality evaluation metrics and methodologies; application-aware
* QoS parsing, identification and control
* Measurement, evaluation, adaptation and verification
* Network operations, pricing and billing, network and service management
* Architectures and protocols for IP, overlay and peer-to-peer networks; optical networks, wireless, ad hoc, mesh, and sensor networks

MISSION OF IJARAS:Prospective authors are invited to submit manuscripts for possible publication in the International Journal of Adaptive, Resilient, and Autonomic Systems. The primary objective of IJARAS is to provide worldwide readership to high quality, novel, effective approaches to design, develop, maintain, evaluate, and benchmark adaptive-and-dependable systems, i.e. devices and services that are built to sustain quality of service and quality of experience despite the occurrence of potentially significant and sudden changes or failures in their infrastructure and surrounding environments. IJARAS has multiple focuses, ranging from conceptual models and paradigms to technological aspects.
IJARAS builds upon a core mission statement and research direction: The awareness of today's urgent need to structure our computer systems as adaptive systems able to constantly re-optimize in the face of changes both exogenous (environmental) and endogenous (pertaining to internal assets). IJARAS introduces a problem, which implies a research direction---athesis. The truth about this statement is drastically reverberating through several domains, and in so doing several seemingly unrelated research domains such as cross-layer adaptation for mobile devices and business process re-engineering can be regarded as special cases of a larger theory of systems. This vision paves the way to cross-fertilization; and through that, IJARAS aims at becoming a powerful tool to steer novel ideas and inject new research directions in this area.
RECOMMENDED TOPICS:
IJARAS topics include (but are not limited to) the following ones:
* Mechanisms, both general and special-purpose, to model, design, express, analyze, and develop adaptive, autonomic and resilient systems;

===============================================================
CALL FOR PAPERS
SpaSWiN 2012
8th Workshop on Spatial Stochastic
Models for Wireless Networks
May 14, 2012, Paderborn, Germany.
Held in conjunction with WiOpt 2012.
=================================================================
http://spaswin.org/
The performance of wireless networks depends critically on the spatial
configuration of the transmitters, receivers and relaying nodes. As a
result, the modeling of such networks requires methods and tools from
point process theory, stochastic geometry and random graph theory. The
art of modeling wireless networks is strongly multi-disciplinary,
combining these spatial, stochastic tools with information and
communication theory, networking theory, combinatorics, and game theory.
SpaSWiN is the first workshop specifically devoted to the use of spatial
stochastic models for improved design of wireless networks. Building on
the success of the seven previous venues of the workshop: in Riva del
Garda (2005), Boston (2006), Limassol (2007), Berlin (2008), Seoul
(2009), Avignon (2010) and Princeton (2011), the goal of SpaSWiN 2012 is
to bring together researchers from the various disciplines involved in
spatial models of wireless communications. Please join us in Paderborn,
Germany on May 14, 2012.

Call for Papers
----------------
Smart wireless devices that are configured to communicate in a Mobile
Peer-to-Peer (MP2P) manner will be soon able to have integrated features
hosting all kinds of daily needs’ applications, in a 3A (Anything,
Anytime, Anywhere) reliable configuration, and interact with one another
using
multiplatform applications. These advancements create the need of the
development of a supportive infrastructure and network architecture that
will enable the realization of the Internet of Things (IoT) which will
be able to host real-time applications in a resource and energy
efficient reliable way.
The IoT realizes its potential in the context of a global communications
platform that can be used by millions of independent devices co-operating
together in large or small combinations, and in shared or separated
federations. It involves connected embedded-devices such as sensors, home
appliances, weather stations and even movable objects (such as toys,
wearable devices-objects etc) to Internet Protocol (IP)-based networks.
This Special Issue addresses the trend in both science and industry for
smart embedded devices (smart objects) to become IP-enabled, as well
as the latest frontier of the Internet, consisting of wireless low-power
embedded devices-called the Wireless Embedded Internet. It also targets the
development and implementation of new fundamental architectures for the
efficient support of IoT technologies, where many resource limitations
can be faced and various network mechanisms will be optimized by
providing new middleware architectures that will face
application-specific issues.
Additionally the Special Issue aims to present novel middleware
architectures and techniques for optimizing the power consumption,
connectivity and
reliability aspects, as well as aims to propose new models for capacity
and data flow management for providing sufficient end-to-end resource
management.
Performance evaluation can be performed using simulation in order to
evaluate the performance under different efficiency angles. With
modeling and
simulation the dynamically changing IoT environments, can be further
analyzed and explored by utilizing computational and mathematical
techniques,
while creating a model construct of a conceptual framework that
describes an IoT system.
Topics
-------
