EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, Special Issue on
Design, Implementation, and Evaluation of Wireless Sensor Network Systems
http://www.hindawi.com/journals/wcn/si/wsns.html
Call for Papers
The recent advances in embedded software/hardware design have enabled
large-scale and cost-effective
deployment of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Such a network consists
of many small sensor nodes with
sensing, control, data processing, communications, and networking
capabilities. The wireless sensor networks
have a broad spectrum applications ranging from wild life monitoring and
battlefield surveillance to border
control and disaster relief, and have attracted significant interests
from both academy and industry.
A wireless sensor node generally has limited storage and computation
capabilities, as well as severely constrained
power supplies, and the networks often operate in harsh unattended
environments. Successful design and
deployment of wireless sensor networks thus call for technology advances
and integrations in diverse fields
including embedded hardware manufacturing and signal processing as well
as wireless communications and
networking across all layers. We have seen the initial and incremental
deployment of real sensor networks in
the past decade, for example, the ZebraNet for wildlife tracking, the
CitySense for weather and air pollutants
reporting, and the Sensormap portal for generic monitoring services, to
name but a few; yet the full potentials
of such networks in the real world remain to be explored and
demonstrated, which involves numerous practical
challenges in diverse aspects.
This special issue aims to summarize the latest development in the
design, implementation, and evaluation of
wireless sensor systems. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
* Practical architecture and protocol design for sensor
communications and networking
* Management, monitoring, and diagnosis of sensor networks
* Implementation and measurement of experimental systems and testbeds
* Experience with real-world deployments of wireless sensor networks
* Interactions with ubiquitous communication and networking
infrastructures
* Novel killer applications of wireless sensor networks
We solicit original unpublished research papers only. Papers previously
published in conference/workshop proceedings
can be considered, but should be substantially extended.
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's
Author Guidelines, which are located at
http://www.hindawi.com/journals/wcn/guidelines.html. Prospective authors
should submit an electronic copy of their
complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at

The 10th International Conference on
Next Generation Wired/Wireless Advanced Networking
NEW2AN 2010
http://www.new2an.org/
August 23 - 25, 2010
St.Petersburg, Russia
CALL FOR PAPERS
About the Conference
Next-generation mobile networks will evolve out of existing wired and
wireless networks of different nature by means of convergence, fusion
and mutual penetration; next-generation multimedia services in turn pose
new requirements and challenges on treatment of traffic within
communication systems – a certain degree of multilayer co-operation has
to be achieved. This forms a framework on harmonization of results
obtained separately in different areas of network research like network
performance evaluation, architecture and protocol design, and low layer
network design. The conference goal is in the identification,
investigation and integration of new algorithms, approaches,
architectures, methods and mechanisms to enable proper and efficient
operation of a next-generation IP-based wireless network. Therefore,
wireless networks and their interaction with wired networks shall be
widely examined and addressed throughout the conference.
The history of NEW2AN dates back to 1993, today it is an established
conference featured by proceedings published by Springer LNCS and
distinguished keynote speakers.
The NEW2AN 2010 will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia - the meeting
point of East and West. Through its stunning architecture and wonderful
art galleries and museums, among a number of other attractions, the
wealth of history of East and West can be seen and felt in this
beautiful city.
NEW2AN is supported by the Government of St.Petersburg and regarded as
very important part of scientific life of Russia.

Call for Posters and Demos
As the field of wireless sensor networks matures, new design concepts,
experimental and theoretical findings, and applications have continued
to emerge at a rapid pace. As one of the leading international

DISIO 2010 - Submission Deadline EXTENDED to December 13, 2009.
This is the final call for paper submission.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Colleagues,
Please find below the call for papers of the ICST/CREATE-NET Workshop on
DIstributed SImulation & Online gaming (DISIO 2010), co-located with the
SIMUTools 2010 conference.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ICST/CREATE-NET DISIO 2010
DIstributed SImulation & Online gaming
(In conjunction with SIMUTools 2010)
http://disio.cs.unibo.it/
Torremolinos, Malaga, Spain - March 15, 2010
=============================
Scope
=============================
The Distributed simulation, Online games and Digital Virtual
Environments (DVEs) fields are gaining more and more importance, both in
academia and industry, but are often seen as different topics with a
very limited amount of interrelation and cross-pollination. Despite
this, given their distributed nature, they share a large amount of
problems and issues (e.g. efficient delivery of updates,
synchronization, load-balancing).
The aim of this workshop is to address the current and future trends in
these topics with a particular attention to aspects that are in common,
with the goal to foster interdisciplinary collaborative research in this
areas. While the main focus of the workshop is on simulation tools and
gaming technologies, the workshop also encourages the submission of
broader theoretical and practical research contributions, such as the
report of relevant case studies. Cross-disciplinary position papers,
posing problems and giving input to the involved communities, are
particularly encouraged. Furthermore, one of the aim of the workshop is
to bring academic and industry researchers together with practitioners.
General areas include, but are not limited to:
* Online Gaming and Digital Virtual Environments:
- Design and implementation of massively populated online games
- Load balancing and distribution techniques
- Region based partitioning, areas of interest and event filtering
techniques
- Simulation of games
- Scalability
- Interoperability
- Cheating avoidance, security and availability
* Distributed Simulation Techniques and Methodologies:
- Synchronization and communication management
- Data Distribution Management (DDM)
- Load balancing techniques
- Simulation interoperability techniques
* Tools for the Implementation of Online Games and Distributed Simulation:
- Peer-to-peer architectures
- Structured/unstructured peer-to-peer communication strategies
(DHTs, gossip, etc.)
- Publish/subscribe mechanisms
- Usage of existing middlewares for the implementation of games
- High Level Architecture (IEEE 1516)
- Open standards
- Communication protocols
=============================
Submission Details
=============================
Papers must be written in English, should not exceed 8 pages, and have
to comply with the ACM conference proceedings format. Submitted papers
must have not been submitted for review or published (partially or
completely) elsewhere. Each paper will be peer reviewed following a
blind-review process. Three reviews for each paper, at least two of
which from TPC members, are planned. Papers are accepted based on
originality, quality and correctness. At least one author of each
accepted paper must register and present work at the conference.
The DISIO workshop will use the EasyChair system. Authors must upload
their PDFs directly using this link
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=disio2010 or selecting the
disio2010 conference in the EasyChair system. For further information,
please refer to the DISIO Website, http://disio.cs.unibo.it
=============================
Publication Details
=============================
The papers that are accepted and presented at the conference will appear
in CD-ROM proceedings (with ISBN), in the ACM Digital Library, and in EU-DL.
=============================
Important Dates
=============================
- Submission deadline: December 13, 2009
- Notification of paper acceptance: January 4, 2010
- Workshop papers camera-ready deadline: January 12, 2010
