*** The Symposium ***
This year the 8th SPIoT will be held in conjunction with the 12th
International Conference on Security, Privacy and Anonymity in
Computation, Communication and Storage (SpaCCS 2019), co-located with
IEEE Cybermatics Congress 2019 in Atlanta, USA, on July 14-17, 2018.
*** CfP ***
The Internet of Things (IoT) regarded by most as Internet's next
evolutionary phase, can be perceived as a global network that brings
together physical objects with sensing, actuating, and communicating
capabilities. The goal is to connect devices that are able to
self-configure and self-adapt to contextual changes through
collaboration, instead of expecting direct human input. Nevertheless,
this seamless integration of the cyber capabilities of the corresponding
devices with the physical world, is poised to take the threats against
this technology to the next level. In this context, every threat against
IoT may constitute a threat against the physical assets of systems and
such threats may be even translated to loss of human lives.
The focus of SPIoT is on high quality research papers about state of the
art in a wide range of IoT-related technologies:
- Security and privacy in heterogeneous IoT.
- Secure and Privacy Preserving Data Mining and Aggregation in IoT
applications.
- Cross-domain trust management in smart networks.
- Secure authentication of IoT devices.
- MAC layer security protocols for the IoT applications.
- IoT security mechanisms targeting application layer protocols.
- Resource-savvy Intrusion Detection for Networks of Things.
- IoT-based malware mitigation.
Proceedings: All accepted papers will be published by Springer LNCS
(Lecture Notes in Computer Science) in SpaCCS 2019 Workshops Proceedings
(indexed by EI Compendex).

Smart health, smart cities, smart industries, smart agriculture, smart
environment, smart transportation, smart homes, smart education, smart
business, smart energy, smart grids, and so on are the components that aid
the mankind for smart living. However, they require, typically, design and
development of innovative technologies, standards, and protocols apart from
their architectures and frameworks. IoT has emerged as an extension to
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) with the low-cost and Internet-enabled
solution for connecting and accessible anything from anywhere. In addition,
such smartness derived due to the artificial intelligence yields in the
production of tremendous amounts of data. The data increases as a
baby-boomer requiring efficient tools to analyze and extract suitable
inferences for services in order to extend smart living. Cloud, Edge and
Big Data acquired enormous attention in light of massive data storage and
analytics. With the large cohorts of gazette shrewdness and hi-tech
population, the infrastructure, service delivery becomes expensive and
difficult to manage for cities and governments. Automating systems through
utilization of IoT, Cloud, Edge, Big Data, and M2M tools and technologies
demonstrate great opportunity to reduce operating costs significantly,
utilize those savings more effectively, and provide better services to
communities for the smarter living. This workshop provides a platform to
the researchers to publish their innovative ideas, extensive analysis of
their comparative studies, critical review of existing research and
position papers in the above areas to meet the smart living requirements.

*Data and knowledge as a service
*Security and privacy applications
*Real-time and stream processing techniques and algorithms
*Real-life case studies

*Aims & Scope*
Breakthrough advances on communication technologies, electronics,
sensors have led to integrated commercialized products ready to be
deployed in smart agriculture. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can play
an important role in smart agriculture by collecting environmental data.
Their ability to carry different type of payloads such as sensors, high
definition cameras, antennas, or even sprayers make it a great ally for
agriculturalists. In large-scale applications, e.g., wide area farms,
forests or even sea farms, a cluster or a network of UAVs is adopted by
opening new paths of research and development in a field which is called
Flying Ad hoc Network (FANET). FANETs incorporate UAVs and Internet of
Things (IoT) as communicating entities for realizing more demanding and
large-scale applications.
There is no doubt that with the proper collaboration and coordination of
multiple UAVs, in a form of FANET, the emerged system would exceed by
far the capabilities of a single UAV system. Single UAV systems usually
utilize heavier, larger and more expensive UAVs which in case of a fall
could pose great danger to human life and property. Using a single UAV,
the amount of coverage is limited, while with multi-UAVs the scalability
of the operation can be easily extended. Moreover, a failure in singe
UAV system means that the whole mission has failed, on the contrary,
multiple UAVs can share tasks among themselves, thus the fault tolerant
of the system increases significantly. Since the number of applications
a single UAV can serve are proportionate to the systems that are
installed on its board, it is quite clear that FANETs can server
different application in parallel thus reducing significantly the
execution time of a mission.
It is quite obvious that FANETs can enhance smart farming management
process significantly. Prerequisite for their deployment is a network
that will guarantee the proper communication between UAVs in order to
ensure their efficient collaboration and coordination. FANETs take on
the communication among UAV nodes as well as the rest of the nodes
(ground sensors, base stations and gateways). Although there are various
advantages of FANETs, when compared to single-UAV systems, several
challenges are emerged when implementing FANETs in smart farming systems
such as the efficient communication and the coordination among the
various flying UAVs and among the UAVs and the ground sensors, base
stations and gateways.
This Special Issue seeks to make an in-depth, critical contribution to
this evolving field of FANET in conjunction with smart farming and smart
agriculture applications and systems. In the context of this special
issue, we intend to bring together the state-of-the-art research
contributions towards providing new insights in the FANET applications
and benefits of the emerging methods and technologies in the IoT-enabled
agriculture sector. The topics that can be addressed include (but are
not limited to) the following ones.
=Topics=

***Aim and Scope***
It is evident that IoT is entering multiple fields of everyday life. The
proliferation of IoT devices as well as the numerous use cases reveal
the very promising potentials of IoT in revolutionizing several aspects
of common activities as well as business processes. The vision of
interconnecting billions of devices in a holistic network, where
machines communicate along with traditional human communications is now
being realized, towards the formation of the Internet of Everything (as
called by Cisco). The workshop focuses on Industrial Internet of Things
systems and applications, which represent the highest value segment of
the IoT market. The heavy research endeavors of last years have provided
efficient solutions and enhanced technologies that enable the creation
of such a network, overcoming several challenges stemming from the
special attributes of device-to-device communications, embedded devices,
and big data management. The new challenge is to identify efficient ways
of integrating IoT technologies in contemporary applications exploiting
the potentials of real-time monitoring, interactive control,
self-management, and data analytics towards “smart” behavior and

As an emerging cross-disciplinary research area, the Cyber-Physical
System (CPS) is attracting attention worldwide.
CPS features a combination of computational and physical elements, all
of which are capable of interacting!
, reflecting and influencing each other. Another emerging
cross-disciplinary research area, the Cyber-Social System (CSS) is
rapidly evolving along with the popularity of online social networking.
With the advent of ubiquitous sensing and networking, future social
networks turn into cyber-physical interactions, which are attached with
associated social attributes.
