> IEEE WoWMoM 2022 – CALL FOR PAPERS
> 23rd IEEE International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Networks
> https://computing.ulster.ac.uk/WoWMoM2022
> ******************************************
>
> SCOPE AND OVERVIEW
>
> IEEE WoWMoM 2022 is soliciting original and previously unpublished papers addressing research challenges and advances
> in the areas of wireless, mobile, and multimedia networking as well as ubiquitous and pervasive systems and applications.
> Wireless networking technologies are continuously evolving and have become a critical part of modern life, be it for communication services,
> media distribution, or sensing and actuation services within the Internet of Things (IoT) context. Appropriate resource management, applications design,
> and architectural networking paradigms are necessary to provide users with high quality experience in multimedia communication and services.
> Edge computing and data-driven artificial intelligence (AI) techniques are becoming essential tools to cope with the increasing diversity of
> connected devices and the plethora of new data-intensive and latency-sensitive applications requested by end-users. At the same time,
> the interoperability among IoT environments (including wearable computing and sensors), the network edge, and the cloud are leading towards
> an edge-cloud continuum that is expected to support a more efficiently diverse range of application domains and services.
> In this context, providing rich sets of measurements for characterizing, detecting, and understanding the behavior of such complex systems is of paramount importance.
>
> IEEE WoWMoM 2022 takes a broad view and seeks papers describing innovative research contributions to the field of mobile and wireless networking and applications.
> We solicit papers that present original work, validated by experimentation, simulation, or analysis.
> We also welcome practical experiences and experimental efforts from both industry and academia, duly documenting the lessons learned from testbeds, field trials, or real deployments.

1st Call For Papers
IEEE ICC 2022 Workshop on
Synergies of communication, localization, and sensing towards 6G
Scope
Research on 6G is now well underway and several large initiatives have been
launched around the globe to define what this new generation of wireless
networks will be. These definitions are supported by a wide variety of
technological enablers, ranging from access in the THz spectrum, which
bring massive bandwidths and laser-like beamforming capabilities, to the
introduction of new antenna technologies and intelligent metasurfaces,
which provide massive apertures and new ways of shaping the propagation
medium. Due to the wide variety of envisioned use cases, 6G will not lead
to a one-size-fits-all solution, but rather inspire a rich diversity in
terms of devices, spectrum usage, and technologies. Common among many
emerging services in need of 6G is the requirement for localization and
sensing to be an integral part of 6G. The ability of 6G to locate and track
active users as well as passive objects will be part of the core
communications functionality and will enable and enrich a wide variety of
futuristic services, including immersive augmented reality, robot
collaboration, and environment/earth monitoring. These services will lead
to a more inclusive and sustainable 6G ecosystem. The overarching vision of
this workshop is that the synergies among localization, sensing, and
communications within the 6G ecosystem require a common venue, not focusing
on any specific technological enabler, but rather support a broad and
diverse set of viewpoints, including those from industry (telecom and radar
industries) and academia (communications, signal processing, and circuits
communities).
Topics

Dear colleagues,
You are cordially invited to submit your latest research results to
*IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking, *
*Special Issue on Green Communication and Networking for Connected and
Autonomous Vehicles*
With the advancements in Internet of Things (IoT) and communication
technologies (5G beyond/6G), Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) is
eventually being realized and will make a major contribution to the
development of smart mobility systems in the pursuit of green and
sustainable economies. Cooperative driving features allowed by CAVs will
dramatically reduce CO2 emissions, allowing for more environmentally
friendly intelligent, smart and sustainable transportation. More
sophisticated green communication and networking computation technologies
are needed for CAVs environments due to the heterogeneity of networking
organizations, strict implementation specifications, and restricted
resources.
Future CAVs networks would have a greater range of sensors and multi-access
edge settings, allowing for more effective use of various modes of
frequency spectrum. Simultaneously, novel services reduced travel time,
cooperative autonomous driving, reduced maintenance and infrastructure
costs, improved energy efficiency, etc. all require unparalleled high
precision and reliability, ultra-low latency, and wide bandwidth. Even
though Green communication for CAVs is a potential disruptive research
direction that can revolutionize the typical transportation system, it is
not being fully realized as several challenges in CAVs are yet to be
addressed. Some of the critical challenges in the realization of CAVs are
data storage, privacy and security issues, energy optimization of the IoT
sensors in the vehicles, regulatory uncertainties, real time analytics of
the big data generated from CAVs, etc.
This Special Issue solicits high-quality research works from researchers
from academia and industry to propose innovative ideas to address the issue
of energy optimization in CAV networks. Theoretical, experimental studies,
and case studies on energy optimization/green communication in CAV are
welcome. We solicit papers covering various topics of interest that
include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- Resource Optimization for green communication and networking in CAVs
- Machine, federated, Transfer and deep learning-based models for green
communication and networking in CAVs
- Edge assisted green communication and networking for CAVs
- Edge AI for green communication and networking for CAVs
- Digital Twin for green communication and networking for CAVs
- Intent-based Networking for green communication and networking for CAVs
- Applications of meta-heuristic algorithms for green communication and
networking in CAV
- Energy optimization for 5G and beyond enabled CAVs
- Blockchain/Smart Contracts for energy optimization in CAV
- Efficient routing protocols for energy optimization in CAVs
- Test beds for green communication systems for CAVs
- SDN, VNF, NS for green communication systems for CAVs
- Optimization techniques (Harris Hawk, search and rescue, etc.) for
green communication systems for CAVs

Dear Colleagues,
17th IEEE/IFIP Wireless On-demand Network systems and Services Conference
(WONS) will be held on
30 March - 1 April 2022, in Oppdal, Norway. Please see the Call for Papers
below and consider submitting your novel research papers. The paper
submission deadline is Nov 19, 2021.
Webpage: http://2022.wons-conference.org/
CALL FOR PAPERS
Wireless on-demand network systems and services have become pivotal in
shaping our future networked world. Starting as a niche application over
Wi-Fi, they can now be found in mainstream technologies like Bluetooth LE,
LTE Direct and Wireless LANs, and have become the cornerstone of upcoming
networking paradigms including mesh and sensor networks, cloud networks,
vehicular networks, disruption tolerant and opportunistic networks, and
in-body networks.
The challenges of this exciting research field are numerous. Examples
include how to make smart use of these novel technologies when multiple
technologies or a mix of permanent services and on-demand networking
opportunities are available to a network node, how to provide robust
services in highly dynamic environments, how to efficiently employ and
operate heavily resource-constrained devices, and how to develop robust and
lightweight algorithms for self-organization and adaptation.
IEEE/IFIP WONS, now numbering seventeen editions, has established itself as
a high quality forum to address these and related challenges. WONS’22 is
able to continue to provide a global platform for rich interactions between
experts in their fields, discussing innovative contributions in a
stimulating environment.
This announcement solicits original contributions of high-quality research
providing novel insights on all aspects of wireless on-demand networks and
systems; from protocol and network design, modeling, performance
evaluation, profitability models, energy efficiency, QoS models and
mechanisms, practical implementations, service level aspects, application
use-cases, to the integration of multiple wireless network technologies.
Topics of interest comprise, but are not limited to:
5G and 6G networks
Cognitive radio networks
Cross-layer design
Data analytics and ML/AI driven network systems
Green wireless networks
Heterogeneous wireless networks
Implementations and testbeds
Internet of Things

WONS 2022 is Technically Co-Sponsored by IFIP TC6 and the IEEE Computer
Society's Technical Committee on Computer Communications (TCCC). Accepted
and presented papers will appear in the conference proceedings published in
the IFIP Open Access Digital Library and the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
REVIEW PROCESS
We will have at least 3 reviews per paper and we count on the TPC members
to do the reviews themselves in order to ensure high quality and
comprehensive reviews. After the reviews, TPC members will discuss the
paper and will reach one of the following decisions: ‘Accept’, ‘Revise’ or
‘Reject’. The papers in the ‘Revise’ category will be assigned a shepherd.
The shepherd will oversee the revision process (which will take around 3-4
weeks) and ultimately decide on whether the paper will be accepted or not.
We will assign the shepherds among the program committee on a voluntary
basis. With the introduction of the shepherding to the review process this
year, our goal is to further improve the paper quality at WONS’22.

[Apologies if you receive multiple copies of this CFP]
Call for papers IoTDI 2022
7th ACM/IEEE Conference on Internet of Things Design and Implementation. May
3-6, 2022 - Milan, Italy
https://conferences.computer.org/iotDI/2022/
Call for papers
The ACM/IEEE International Conference on Internet of Things Design and
Implementation (IoTDI) is a premier venue on IoT. In 2022, IoTDI will be
held for the seventh time, and will be part of CPS-IoT WEEK 2022
(https://cpsiotweek.neslab.it) being held in Milan, Italy.
A confluence of technological advances marks the advent of a new era. World
data volume is growing at an unprecedented pace, much of it from embedded
devices. AI/ML technology promise unprecedented levels of automation in
system operation and data processing. Smart cities grow, fed by millions of
data points from multitudes of human and physical sources, together with
machine intelligence algorithms that extract value for applications.
Cyber-attacks grow more nefarious, bringing down physical systems. Social
media are becoming ubiquitous, offering additional information on physical
things. The separation between cyber, physical, and social systems is
blurring. Collectively, these developments lead to the emergence of a new
multi-disciplinary field, where the networking and physical realms meet,
often in social spaces. It is the field of the Internet of Things (IoT).
This conference is an interdisciplinary forum that brings together
researchers and practitioners from academia, industry and government to
discuss challenges, technologies, and emerging directions in IoT system
design and implementation. This conference invites original, previously
unpublished work on a range of IoT topics, broadly defined.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
. Analytic foundations and theory of IoT
. Reliability, security, timeliness, and robustness in IoT
systems
. Machine intelligence for IoT systems and applications
. Social applications and social data analytics for IoT
. Novel protocols and network abstractions
. Data streaming architectures and AI/ML analytics for IoT
. IoT-motivated cyber-physical and Industrial IoT (IIoT)
systems
. Novel quality requirements and their enforcement mechanisms
. Cloud back-ends and resource management for IoT applications
. Edge and fog computing
. Personal, wearable, and other embedded networked front-ends
. Social computing and human-in-the-loop issues
. Applications domains (e.g., smart cities, smart health, smart
buildings, smart transportation)
. Deployment experiences, case studies, and lessons learned
. Evaluation and testbeds
. Energy/Power Management and Harvesting for IoT Platforms
For papers reporting results based on experiments with human subjects,
appropriate ethics approvals should be demonstrated as part of the
submission.
Accepted papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to
meeting IEEE Xplore's scope and quality requirements.
IoTDI collaborates closely with the IPSN conference, given the proximity in
research themes (both related to IoT) and the co-location in CPS-IoT Week.
We provide submission guidelines
(https://ipsn.acm.org/joint_statement_IoTDI.html) to aid prospective authors
with the conference venue selection. In the meantime, we would like to make
explicit that double submission remains prohibited under the publisher's
policy of Prior Publication and Simultaneous Submissions. In 2022 and to
foster a closer joint-community, we would invite quality submissions to one
venue for publication at the other, in case we find fit and the authors
agree
Paper Submission

*Call for papers: IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics*
*Special Section on Cyber-Physical Threats and Solutions for Autonomous
Transportation Systems*
Theme: The rapid evolution of technology has radically changed our everyday
lives from multiple points of view. Among the others, transportation
systems are nowadays populated by smart and interconnected vehicles that
need to communicate with each other and with critical infrastructures to
orchestrate traffic and mobility. Transportation systems are hence operated
through multiple technologies that need to cooperate to provide efficient
delivery of goods and human mobility, as well as to provide security in the
overall networks. The latter task is complicated by the fact that vehicles
autonomously drive and cooperate in the network without human intervention.
The overall transportation network can be therefore represented by a
cyber-physical system, where a large number of sensors, actuators, and
multiple technologies are connected and exchange information. To guarantee
the overall network
security, attack detection and the design of suitable countermeasures play
a fundamental role. The security of cyber-physical systems has been widely
studied in literature. However, most of the proposed solutions target
either the cyber or the physical threats, without providing a unified view
able to detect and mitigate more complicated attacks. The purpose of this
special issue is therefore to collect the latest research achievements in
the cyber-physical threats and countermeasures in autonomous transportation
systems.
This special section will focus on (but not limited to) the following topics:
- Methods for detection of cyber-physical attacks in transportation systems
- Design of countermeasures for cyber-physical attacks in transportation
systems
- Hardware solutions for mitigating the attacks on controller area networks
of automotive
- Protocol and semantics agnostic security solutions to automotive CPS
- Formal modeling of cyber-physical attacks in transportation systems
- Privacy preserving solutions for cyber-physical transportation systems
- Cyber-physical threats in platoons/swarms
- Scalability of the security solutions in autonomous transportation systems
- Blockchain solutions against cyber-physical threats in autonomous
transportation systems
- Security testing of vulnerabilities in automotive CPS

The Internet of Things (IoT) technology offers unprecedented opportunities
to interconnect human beings as well as Machine-to-Machine (M2M), whereby
sensors and networks allow all ‘things’ to communicate directly with each
other to share vital information allowing us to have an instrumented
universe where accurate data is readily available to inform optimal
decision making. The IoT is about to enable a range of new capabilities and
services far beyond today’s offerings. It will fundamentally change how
people go about their lives. According to Gartner, the number of objects
connected to the Internet is set to reach 20 billion by 2021. Cisco
estimates the number will be close to 26 billion objects by 2021. Others
believe the actual number will be even higher with the assumption that any
object with a simple micro controller and on-off switch will be connected
to the Internet in the near feature. The scale of the IoT is set to have a
major economic, social and environmental impacts; the intersection of which
forms the future sustainable growth. The IEEE International Workshop on

IEEE Access Special Issue - Internet of Space: Networking Architectures
and Protocols to Support Space-Based Internet Services
Submission Deadline: 30 November 2021
IEEE Access invites manuscript submissions in the area of Internet of
Space: Networking Architectures and Protocols to Support Space-Based
Internet Services.
This Special Section is focused on the most recent scientific research and
insights on the evolution of communication architectures and protocols for
an Internet of Space, able to boost the creation of a truly global Internet
by means of the integration of the current Internet with a new Internet of
Space. Such evolution is expected to have a significant impact on several
markets such as IoT/Industrial IoT, Mobile services, Industry 4.0,
Government enterprise, and Connected mobility.
The section shall cover work focused on aspects such as how to support the
operation of Tier-1, Tier-2 or even Tier-3 airborne/spaceborne networks;
how to address interoperability, within and across different protocol
layers in the network architecture, leveraging cross-layer design; and
finally how to design a more unified next generation Internet architecture
able to transparently include spaceborne and airborne platforms in a way
that allows for user-centric services, and a smooth operation of transient
networks.
However, an original and competent Internet of Space, calls for the
definition of a networking framework able to accommodate specific
properties of dynamic systems, including heterogeneous physical layers,
frequent changes in network topology, high propagation delays, and
intermittent connectivity. The dominant success factor for such a
networking framework is low-cost bandwidth, although its capability to
support low latency and high-throughput services plays an important role.
Secondly, a global Internet is only possible with a transparent integration
of an Internet of Space with the current Internet, while supporting
multi-tenants, multi-systems in different orbits and altitudes, as well as
multiple markets. Such an integration requires rethinking the Internet
architecture in order to extend its operation to all systems above the
Earth's surface, which requires the integration of heterogeneous
communication devices and protocols. Such a unifying networking framework
will have a truly global reach, allowing the connection between information
producers and consumers in any corner of Earth and Space. Last but not
least, the seamless integration of an Internet of Space with the current
Internet will lead to a global empowerment, providing information access to
everyone who may need it to sustain enriched human life, while mitigating
some of the major limitations of a network infrastructure that is built on
Earth's surface, which is subjected not only to geographic limits but also
to political limits.
>From a technical perspective this Special Section is focused on the design
and performance evaluation of networking architectures and protocols for
the Internet of Space, as well as on a more unified design that best deals
with the networking challenges to be faced.
The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Network architectures, able to support multi-tenants, multi-systems
in different orbits and altitudes, as well as multiple markets, while being
transparently integrated in the current Internet architecture. Such new,
unifying, network architecture may require the exploitation of paradigms
such as Delay Tolerant Networking (DTN), and Information Centric Networking
(ICN).
* Network virtualization, leveraging well-known technologies such as
Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization
(NFV), as well as their integration with the emerging concept of
Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC), allowing the virtualization of
networking, storage and computing fabrics at the edge, required for the
offloading of tasks that have latency constraints from the core to the edge.
* Decentralized Internet Infrastructure, allowing a scalable
Internetworking between computing processes and service hosted at the
network edge (including flying platforms and spaceborne platforms, such as
smart satellite constellations), leading to an end-to-end latency reduction
due to user proximity, as well as a reduction of network traffic through
traffic localization and device-to-device communications.
* Network management, such as support for the global orchestration of
network functions on board spaceborne platforms (e.g., satellites) to best
support data processing and aggregation; seamless interoperation of mobile
Edge infrastructure and devices; resilience and seamless adaptation based
on the capability to anticipate the behavior of services on a global scale.
* Cognitive networking, in which programmable spaceborne networks allow
networked devices to perform customized computation, including the usage of
Artificial Intelligence. Such cognitive functions will be exploited to
develop more intelligent, adaptive networks, able to perceive network
conditions, decide upon those conditions, and learn from the consequences
of its actions.
* Networking protocols, including support for inter-satellite
communications, and satellite to ground communications, Quality of Service
(QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE), integrated security, and mobility,
and their integration with existing protocols such as IP routing (e.g.
segment routing), transport protocols from the Transmission Control
Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) to Quick UDP Internet
Connections (QUIC), and application protocols such as Domain Name Service
(DNS).
* Wireless technologies, including not only the usage of radio
frequency systems but also free space optical systems, and a combination of
both.
* Network measurement & performance, to assist in understanding and
exposing the performance of spaceborne networking resources,
infrastructure, and available communication protocols in a variety of
ground-to-space, inter-satellite communication scenarios.
* Privacy, security and trustworthiness, assuming end-to-end scenarios
involving satellites with computational and storage capabilities, and
covering aspects such as data security, decentralized trust architectures.
* Impact on Internet services, such as advanced IoT services (e.g.,
Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality in manufacturing or farming) served by
spaceborne platforms and spaceborne communications; real-time IoT
applications (e.g., critical monitoring of public infrastructures);
awareness services (e.g., public safety services).
* Impact on data management aspects, including the support of the next
generation of Edge computing in space, as well as a fast cooperation
between a large set of Edge-based producers of data.
We also highly recommend the submission of multimedia with each article as
it significantly increases the visibility and downloads of articles.
