> IEEE Access invites manuscript submissions in the area of
> Network Resource Management in Flying Ad Hoc Networks: Challenges, Potentials, Future Applications, and Wayforward.
>
>
> INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW
> -------------------------------------------
> With the rapid development in the fields of wireless ad hoc networks that do not rely on any pre-existing infrastructure, Flying Ad hoc networks (FANETs) have recently captured the attention of vendors and investors due to the flying nature of entities in the network. FANET is composed of nodes that fly at high altitude platforms such as balloons, unmanned aerial vehicles or drones, which have the ability to fly without a human pilot aboard. The network of nodes that fly at high altitude has gained commercial and industrial popularity because of its applications in surveillance, agriculture, photography, etc. For instance, the new applications that are being developed for FANET bring up the new challenges such as multipath propagation, severe shadowing, traffic load balancing, mobility, congestion, high error rates, etc., that usually results in the performance degradation of the network. However, the applications developed and used in FANET may also result in collision with the commercial flights due to the above challenges.
>
> The Federal Aviation Administration has been reported about the tremendous increase of more than 50% in the air traffic specifically the unmanned vehicles in 2017. However, such an increase in the UAVs results in an increase in the network traffic of FANET that may lead to an unbalanced traffic distribution, resulting in an increase in packet loss due to collision. Furthermore, the high data traffic generated by the number of nodes in FANET is one of the leading causes of accidents with the commercial flights. In order to cope with such kind of challenges, the network traffic of FANET must be distributed in such a way that it should neither disturb the commercial flights nor the communication among the nodes that fly at high altitudes in a network.
> This Special Issue therefore solicits original research work, novel protocols, methodologies and survey papers addressing the future challenges and solutions that embark on network resource management in FANETs. The topics of Special Issue include, but are not limited to:
>
> - Efficient deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at high altitude platforms (HAPs) for congestion avoidance and control
> - Dynamic traffic load balancing for congestion avoidance through routing in Flying Ad hoc Networks
> - Performance investigation of 5G systems with flying ad hoc networks (FANETs)
> - An optimal data collection and dissemination technique for balanced traffic utilization in FANETs
> - Distributed congestion-aware position oriented MAC/Routing protocols for FANETs
> - Performance evaluation of layered protocols of TCP/IP for multimedia traffic in flying ad hoc networks (FANETs) at different altitude platforms
> - Analysis of Reactive, proactive, and hybrid routing protocols for flying Ad Hoc networks
> - Opportunistic routing for distributed video traffic dissemination over flying ad hoc networks
> - A cross layer design for distributed information dissemination over flying ad hoc networks
> - Agricultural environment monitoring system based on UAV in FANETs
> - Congestion avoidance, detection, and mitigation in Flying Ad-Hoc Network for efficient utilization of network resources
> - Distributed clustering approach for FANETs
> - Enhanced connectivity for robust multimedia transmission in UAV networks
> - Active Queue Management for resource sharing in Flying Ad hoc Networks
> - Bio-inspired routing protocols for FANET routing
> - Multi-hop and relay-based communications for distributed traffic load balancing
> - Smart solutions to reduce congestion in FANETs
> - Interaction of FANET with IoT
> - Distributed Emergency Message Dissemination in FANET

The Internet of Things (IoT) regarded by most as Internet's next
evolutionary phase, can be perceived as a global network that brings
together physical objects with sensing, actuating, and communicating
capabilities. The goal is to connect devices that are able to
self-configure and self-adapt to contextual changes through
collaboration, instead of expecting direct human input. Nevertheless,
this seamless integration of the cyber capabilities of the corresponding
devices with the physical world, is poised to take the threats against
this technology to the next level. In this context, every threat against
IoT may constitute a threat against the physical assets of systems and
such threats may be even translated to loss of human lives.
The focus of SPIoT is on high quality research papers about state of the
art in a wide range of IoT-related technologies:
- Security and privacy in heterogeneous IoT.
- Secure and Privacy Preserving Data Mining and Aggregation in IoT
applications.
- Cross-domain trust management in smart networks.
- Secure authentication of IoT devices.
- MAC layer security protocols for the IoT applications.
- IoT security mechanisms targeting application layer protocols.
- Resource-savvy Intrusion Detection for Networks of Things.
- IoT-based malware mitigation.
Proceedings: All accepted papers will be published by Springer LNCS
(Lecture Notes in Computer Science) in SpaCCS 2019 Workshops Proceedings
(indexed by EI Compendex).

CPS-Sec 2019 - CALL FOR PAPERS
=================================================================
IEEE International Workshop on Cyber-Physical Systems Security (CPS-Sec)
https://cns2019.ieee-cns.org/workshop/cps-sec-international-workshop-cyber-…
will be held in conjunction with IEEE Conference on Communications and
Network Security (CNS) 2019
10-12 June, 2019
Washington, D.C., USA
=================================================================
Nowadays, the correct functioning of information systems represents a
fundamental milestone for the well-being of modern economies and
societies. The scientific evolution of digital, analog, and physical
components with the interactions between networks created the
Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). Even though the benefits of the cyber and
physical world interactions are noticeable, new security challenges have
arisen: typical vulnerabilities from the cyber domain emerged in CPS.
Cyber-attacks over CPS pose different security challenges. In
particular, classic Information Technology (IT) cyber security tools are
considered partially or totally ineffective in CPS scenarios because
complex cyber-physical attacks could avoid security detection
methodologies developed specifically for the IT world. The prevention,
detection, and mitigation of cyber-attacks encompass both the physical
and the cyber layers of a system: to this end, approaches to securing
CPS consider techniques adopted in the physical domain and in the cyber
space.
Following the success of the previous editions, the IEEE International
Workshop on Cyber-Physical Systems Security 2019 (CPS-Sec 2019) aims to
represent a forum for researchers and practitioners from industry and
academia interested in the areas of CPS security. CPS-Sec 2019 seeks
novel submissions describing practical and theoretical solutions to the
cyber-physical security challenges. A submission may represent any CPS
domain, including embedded systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial
Internet of Things (IIoT), SCADA Systems, Smart-Grid Systems, Critical
Infrastructure, Automotive and Transportation Systems, Medical applications.
Example topics of interest are given below, but are not limited to:
* Secure CPS architectures
* Authentication mechanisms for CPS
* Access control for CPS
* Key management in CPS
* Data security and privacy for CPS
* Forensics for CPS
* Intrusion detection for CPS
* Trusted-computing in CPS

DEADLINE EXTENDED
-------------------------------------------------------------
CALL FOR PAPERS
IFIP WWIC 2019
The 17th International Conference on Wired/Wireless Internet Communications
http://wwic2019.nws.cs.unibo.it
June 17-19, 2019, Bologna, Italy
-------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
***** (EXTENDED) SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MARCH 24, 2019 *****
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extended versions of selected papers will be invited for publication on
a fast track special issue of Computer Communications (Elsevier) journal.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to advancements in technology and development of new services, we
foresee a tremendous growth of new devices and smart things that need to
be connected to the Internet through a variety of wireless technologies.
At the same time, the edge of the Internet is increasingly empowered
with new capabilities, like pervasive sensing and computing power, which
opens the way to new domains, services and business models beyond
traditional mobile Internet, such as connected cars, participatory and
urban sensing, industrial IoT. As a consequence, new types of
information have to be delivered by the network with varying
requirements in terms of reliability, transmission rates and latency. To
cope with the exponential growth of devices and mobile data traffic,
there is a need for clean-slate or evolutionary Internet architectures
merging and assembling different network technologies, supporting new
paradigms for wired/wireless system planning and optimization, efficient
transport over heterogeneous wireless access options, efficient and
quality-aware content distribution, and new approaches for unified
operations and management of the heterogeneous components, like
software-defined systems and network function virtualization. These are
only some examples of the challenges that are of interest to IFIP WWIC 2019.
The IFIP WWIC 2019 conference takes a broader view to the merge of wired
and wireless technologies and welcomes submissions from academia and
industry that explore challenges and advances in architectures,
algorithms, protocols, and technologies for a global wired/wireless
Internet network. Papers that present original work, validated by
experimentation, simulation, or analysis, are solicited. We also
encourage work-in-progress and position papers that describe highly
original ideas, present new directions, or have the potential to
generate insightful provocative discussions. IFIP WWIC is a single-track
conference which has reached, over the last 15 years, a high-quality
level, which is reflected by the paper acceptance rate as well as the
level of attendance. Following the conference tradition, there will be a
best paper award.
