------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Workshop Proposals: Due 1 May 2017*
Proposals are sought on any topic related to all areas of consumer
communications and networking. The ideal workshop proposal should focus
on a specific area of significant current interest, and be able to
attract a number of high-quality submissions. Proposals on emerging or
disruptive topics guaranteed to generate significant interest in the
community will be selected.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Technical Papers: Due 1 July 2017*
Submissions are welcomed in the following areas in consumer
communications networking.
- Networking Solutions for Games, Multimedia,
Social Good, and P2P Applications
- Cloud Services and Networking
- Wireless Communications: MAC and Cross-Layer Design
- Wireless Communications: Fundamentals
and PHY
- Mobile and Wireless Networks
- Sensing, Smart Spaces and IoT:
Applications and QoE
- Security, Privacy and Content Protection
- Mobile and Wearable Devices, Services
and Applications
- Vehicular Communications and Applications
in Water, Land, and Sky
- Selected Topics in Consumer Communications
and Networking
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Tutorial Proposals: Due 31 July 2017*
Proposals are sought that cover a wide range of topics and levels —
ranging from fundamentals to the latest advances in hot topic areas.
Topics include all areas related to consumer communications and networking.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Demonstration Proposals: Due 17 October 2017*
Proposals are welcomed on emerging and innovative technologies that have
potential commercial application from nascent and incubating companies.
A technology prototype can range from a mockup using computers (instead
of actual consumer devices) to a full-fledged collection of networked
consumer devices.
*For accepted demos, there will be a unique opportunity for a small
number of demonstrations to be shown at the International CES 2018 in
the IEEE Booth.*

*Connected vehicles in Intelligent Transportation Systems*
IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Scope:*
Connected Vehicles is one of many applications that can be integrated in
the Intelligent Transportation Systems, encompassing all aspects of road
transport, traffic management, mobility management and vehicle
communication. Recently it has been further enhanced by the concept of
Internet of Vehicles (IoV).
Connected Vehicles enables any vehicle, anywhere, to act as a smart node,
collecting and sharing information on vehicles, roads and the surroundings.
This information can then be distributed to other vehicles,
vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, and road users, vehicle-to-human
(V2H) communication, for an improved road experience. Information can also
be forwarded towards traffic control systems, vehicle-to-infrastructure
(V2I) communication, for improved traffic management and road safety.
Implementation of connected vehicles in intelligent transportation systems
will revolutionize the way we drive. There are however many issues that
need to be resolved to achieve maximum potential including privacy and

CALL FOR PAPER:
Special Section in IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics "From
Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks to Industrial IoT"
Deadline for manuscript submissions July 1,
2017<calendar:T2:July%201,%202017> This CFP can be seen at the website
of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics at http://tii.ieee-ies.org/.
The THEME
--------------
Ever-growing volume of data and information is being captured from
systems, machines and devices and made available to IT systems. The
information is processed on-the-fly enabling IT-based management systems
to make decisions for real-time control of the manufacturing process.
This data capturing and collection for IT systems is often referred to
as the Internet of Things (IoT). When adopted to the industrial
automation systems where robustness, reliability, security and latency
and jitters are highly desired performance requirements, it is often
called Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
Industrial communication systems today<calendar:T5:today> primarily
consist of legacy systems such as HART, Foundation FIELDBUS, CAN and
Profibus - well-working and established industry-specific networks
installed in millions of systems. In the last decades, there has been a
push for IP-based technology which has made Ethernet become a popular
communication infrastructure. But to meet the stringent timing
requirements of industrial applications, it has been necessary to
implement real-time functionality. The communication plays a central
role for the availability of all relevant information in real-time.
Furthermore, it is indisputable that the mobility of objects involved in
the production as well as the necessary flexibility of the production
require wireless communication systems. The need for wireless
communication is steadily increasing in many automation applications. In
order to fully exploit the potentials offered by wireless communication
for monitoring, control and automation applications, there is a further
need for time-constrained communication protocols that provide bounded
latency together with high reliability or energy efficiency. In
addition, wireless automation applications need to interact with legacy
wired communications systems and provide equivalent levels of security
and dependability. Furthermore, industrial settings are highly dynamic
environments which call for the ability to adapt to changes in the
operating conditions while still not violating the time-constraints of
the applications. Given the above scenarios, there is a need to
disseminate, streamline and investigate research findings coming from
several different application domains, namely from factory automation to
industrial process monitoring and control, from traffic, environmental,
building and structural monitoring to mobile robotics, from vehicular
communication to energy management and healthcare applications. This
need is especially driven by the industry interest in enabling
large-scale wireless deployments for the sake of flexible, competitive
and cost-efficient production.
The goal of this special section is to attract papers addressing the
main research issues in design, development, adoption and applications
of Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks and Industrial
Internet-of-Things. IIoT provides a great opportunity to new gains in
flexibility and productivity but also challenges as to how to merge
existing installations to these new technologies.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
* Architecture and protocol design for industrial IoT systems
* 5G for future industrial automation
* Security, safety and privacy issues in industrial wireless
networks and applications
* Deployment, integration and case studies of IWSN and IIoT
* Performance evaluation, simulation, RF measurements, and
modeling of industrial IoT systems
* Embedded industrial IoT applications
* Intelligent M2M Communications in industrial IoT
* Cognitive IIoT
* Cloud-based IIoT solutions
The use of information technology also opens up new application areas
for automation systems. Examples include but are not limited to:
* Smart Manufacturing and Web-of-Things in the factory line
* Process, Factory, Home and Building Automation
* Smart grids / Smart metering
* Industrial Robotics and Automation
* Smart and Connected Health

CALL FOR PAPERS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Connected vehicles in Intelligent Transportation Systems*
IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Scope:*
Connected Vehicles is one of many applications that can be integrated in
the Intelligent Transportation Systems, encompassing all aspects of road
transport, traffic management, mobility management and vehicle
communication. Recently it has been further enhanced by the concept of
Internet of Vehicles (IoV).
Connected Vehicles enables any vehicle, anywhere, to act as a smart node,
collecting and sharing information on vehicles, roads and the surroundings.
This information can then be distributed to other vehicles,
vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, and road users, vehicle-to-human
(V2H) communication, for an improved road experience. Information can also
be forwarded towards traffic control systems, vehicle-to-infrastructure
(V2I) communication, for improved traffic management and road safety.
Implementation of connected vehicles in intelligent transportation systems
will revolutionize the way we drive. There are however many issues that
need to be resolved to achieve maximum potential including privacy and
security issues, data processing and storage, development of standards and
regulations across all platforms, establishing new communication protocols
and system architectures and the creation of new services and applications.
This Special Issue on “Connected vehicles in Intelligent Transportation
Systems” is focused on intelligent transportation systems using vehicle
communications and their applications, protocols, standards, and advanced
technologies. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] CFP: The 1st IEEE Symposium on Privacy-Aware Computing
IEEE PAC 2017
August 1-3, 2017
Washington DC, USA
With the continuous proliferation of diverse Internet-based computing paradigms, large amounts of data containing privacy-sensitive information are being constantly published, collected, processed, and archived. This trend will be further fueled up by the new development of IoT (Internet of Things) technologies, smart cities, e-health, e-commerce, social and behavioral studies, social networking, edge computing, and cloud computing. As a result, fast-growing concerns about data privacy from academia as well as industry emerge in recent years, which motivate researchers and practitioners to think about questions such as how to guarantee that the collected or published data are not misused; how to ensure that data processing does not disclose any sensitive information; how to store the data securely for privacy protection; how to define new privacy policies that allow desirable services; and how to make sure that privacy policies issued by government and industry are not violated.
The IEEE Symposium on Privacy-Aware Computing (IEEE PAC) brings together experts from academia, government, and industry to present and discuss recent advances and new perspectives on related research and development in privacy-aware computing. We invite original theoretical contributions as well as system implementation/experimentation works on all topics related to "making computing privacy-aware" for privacy protection. Particularly, IEEE PAC solicits unpublished results in privacy threats and vulnerabilities of emerging applications for various computing platforms (mobile, IoT, cloud, social network, etc.), privacy-aware algorithms for big data analytics and networking, novel methodologies for privacy-protection (modern cryptography, game theory, etc.), policies for privacy-aware computing, etc. Topics of interests include, but are not limited to, the following subject categories:
Privacy-aware mobile computing
Privacy-aware information retrieval
Privacy-aware computation outsourcing
Privacy-preserving data collection
Privacy-aware data mining and machine learning
Privacy-aware financial technology
Privacy-aware bio-computing
Privacy-aware social computing
Differential privacy and data perturbation techniques
Privacy-aware database systems
Privacy issues in wearable computing and e-healthcare
Privacy issues in Internet of Things
Privacy issues in web services
Privacy issues in network systems
Privacy issues in wireless systems
Privacy issues in mobile sensing
Privacy issues in social and behavioral studies
Location/Localization privacy
Anonymous Communications
Privacy issues in software defined networks
Privacy technologies for digital currency and mobile payment
Hardware-related privacy technologies
Privacy threats and countermeasures
Policy issues for privacy-aware computing
We solicit regular papers that present novel and unpublished research results. Position papers that define new problems or provide visions and clarifications in privacy-aware computing are particularly welcome. Besides, we will include an industry/government track, which will contain talks, demos, and exhibitions from non-academia organizations, to demonstrate the recent advances in privacy products and prototypes, and present and discuss critical challenges, government policies, upcoming research directions, etc. The goal of this industry/government track is to further foster collaborations between academia, industry, and government, so as to more effectively push the frontier of privacy-aware computing.
