================================================
The Second Nordic Workshop on System and Network Optimization for
Wireless (SNOW) aims at bringing together Researchers and Students from
the Academia working in wireless networking, primarily in the Nordic region.
This year, the Nordic SNOW Workshop aims to have a special focus on
broadband cellular access (HSPA, LTE/LTE-A, etc) and emerging wireless
networking paradigms such as collaborative and heterogeneous networking.
We further welcome presentations within a broad range of wireless
networking cross-layer optimization, from fundamental communication
performance analysis to considerations for multimedia QoS.
Our goal is to have a single track meeting with lively scientific
discussions and exchange of views, and to accommodate a wide variety of
backgrounds and research attitudes. The program will be organized in
such a way to promote networking activities between the participants,
including daily social outdoors activities like skiing.
We therefore invite for review submissions of up to 1-page abstracts of
technical presentations targeting, but not limited to the following topics:
- Asymptotic system properties (capacity, connectivity, coverage, delay)
- Cellular systems, 3G/4G, LTE-advanced, WMAN, WRAN, and other emerging
broadband wireless networks
- Inter-networking and integration of wireless heterogeneous and
multi-tier networks
- Performance engineering in HSPA, WLAN, MESH, LTE, and other cellular
or multitier technologies
- Wireless network planning, capacity analysis, and topology control
- Cognitive Radios and cooperative/opportunistic communications
- Self-organizing wireless networks
- Game theoretic models, pricing and incentives
- Resource management, mobility management, and admission control
- Energy efficiency and green communications
- Delay tolerant wireless networks
- Scalability and manageability of network architectures
- Automated planning and resource allocation in 3G HSPA (and beyond)
networks
Abstracts must be submitted electronically through the Nordic SNOW
workshop web page: http://snow.itn.liu.se/AbstractSubSnow.html
The workshop keynote presentations will be soon announced on the
workshop web page.

The Third Workshop on ns-3
March 25th, 2010
Barcelona, Spain
http://www.wns3.org/2011/
===============================================================
The Workshop on ns-3 (WNS3) is a one day workshop held in conjunction
with the Fourth International Conference on Simulation Tools and
Techniques (SIMUTools 2011).
The workshop will take place on March 25th, 2010, in Barcelona, Spain.
The objective of the workshop is to gather ns-3 users and developers,
together with networking simulation practitioners and users and
developers of other network simulation tools, to discuss about the ns-3
simulator and related activities.
CALL FOR PAPERS
After two successful editions, which gathered users and developers for
highly interactive and lively discussions but without a formal
publication track, this year the workshop will feature a peer-reviewed
paper track, thus allowing presenters to get formal credit for their
contribution. Papers will be available in the digital library
collection arranged by the main conference track (more details to be
provided at a later date).
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
* new models, devices, protocols and applications for ns-3
* frameworks for the definition and automation of ns-3 simulations
* post-processing and statistical analysis tools for ns-3
* speed and scalability issues for ns-3
* validation of ns-3 models
* credibility and reproducibility issues for ns-3 simulations
* integration of ns-3 with testbeds, emulators, and other
simulators or tools
* real code integration with ns-3
As a general rule, papers presenting enhancements to ns-3 and/or
innovative ways of using ns-3 that could be beneficial to the ns-3
community are considered to be within the scope of the workshop. Papers
that just present simulation results obtained without any significant
modification to the ns-3 simulator will be considered out of scope and
rejected. Please do not hesitate to contact the workshop chairs if you
have any question regarding the scope of your submission.
Important dates:
Submission deadline : November 24, 2010
Notification of acceptance : January 19, 2011
Camera-ready deadline : February 8, 2011
Paper Submission Guidelines:
Papers must be written in English and must not exceed 8 pages. Authors
should submit papers through EasyChair
(http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wns3) in PDF format,
complying with the ACM conference proceedings format. Submitted papers
must not have been submitted for review or published (partially or
completely) elsewhere. Every paper will be peer-reviewed. Papers will be
accepted based on relevance, originality and amount of the contribution,
as well as quality of the writing and presentation. At least one author
of each accepted paper must register and present the work at the
conference. Failure to do so will result in the paper not being
published in the conference proceedings and in the digital libraries.
The copyright policy that will be used for accepted papers will be
posted as part of the author's kit at a future date.
SHORT TALKS AND DEMONSTRATIONS
In addition to the regular paper track, WNS3 will also feature sessions
dedicated to short talks and demonstrations not to be published on the
conference proceedings. The aim is to foster interactive discussions on
work in progress, new problem statements and ideas for future
development related to ns-3. More details will be announced at a future
date (the submission date will be closer to the workshop date).
NS-3 DEVELOPERS' MEETING
In addition, the ns-3 developers' meeting will be co-located with WNS3,
either on Thursday, March 24th or Saturday, March 26th. More details
will be announced in the future.

Dear Lars Wolf,
Let me kindly inform you that the Int'l Conf. on Pervasive and Embedded
Computing and Communication Systems (PECCS - http://www.peccs.org/) is
now welcoming the submission of position papers (deadline set for next
January 3). PECCS will be held next year in Algarve, Portugal, on March 5-7.
A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal
of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is
valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed
research work and/or validated results. It is, nevertheless, important
to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your
claims. A position paper may be a short report and discussion of ideas,
facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research
(bibliographic, experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of
the conference topic areas. The acceptance of a position paper is
restricted to the categories of "short paper" or "poster", i.e. a
position paper is not a candidate to acceptance as "full paper". EDRP
PECCS is sponsored by INSTICC and held in collaboration with UPM
(Universidad Politecnica de Madrid) and in cooperation with WfMC
(Workflow Management Coalition),IEICE (Institute of Electronics,
Information and Communication Engineers) and IEICE SWIM (IEICE Special
Interest Group on Software Interprise Modelling).
The conference will include four Keynote Lectures delivered by
distinguished world-class researchers: Dr. Norbert Streitz (Smart Future
Initiative, Germany), Prof. Bernhard Rinner (Klagenfurt University,
Austria), Prof. Lech Jozwiak (Eindhoven University of Technology /
Euromicro, The Netherlands) and Prof. Anind K. Dey (Carnegie Mellon
University, U.S.A.).
The Program Committee (check the website for a detailed list) includes
internationally distinguished experts on the conference topic areas.
Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All
accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under
an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support.
A short list of presented papers will be selected for publication of
extended and revised versions in a special issue of the 'IET Software'
Journal.
The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters
Conference Proceedings Citation Index, INSPEC, DBLP and EI.
Best paper awards will be bestowed at the conference closing session.
All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the
SciTePress Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/).
PECCS's website - http://www.peccs.org - has all the details on the
conference structure and its main topic areas.
PECCS is co-located with VISIGRAPP 2011 (6th International Joint
Conference on Computer Vision, Imaging and Computer Graphics Theory and
Applications - http://www.visigrapp.org/) and registration to PECCS
allows free access to the VISIGRAPP conference.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.

CALL FOR PAPERS
6th International Symposium on Software Engineering for
Adaptive and Self-Managing Systems (SEAMS 2011)
(Sponsored by ACM SIGSOFT and IEEE TCSE)
Waikiki, Honolulu, USA
23-24 May 2011
http://2011.seams-symposia.org/
THEME
An increasingly important requirement for a software-based system is
the ability to self-manage by adapting itself at run time to handle
changing user needs, system intrusions or faults, a changing
operational environment, and resource variability. Such a system must
configure and reconfigure itself, augment its functionality,
continually optimize itself, protect itself, and recover itself, while
keeping its complexity hidden from the user.
The topic of self-adaptive and self-managing systems has been studied
in a large number of specific areas, including software architectures,
fault-tolerant computing, robotics, control systems, programming
languages, and biologically-inspired computing.
The objective of this symposium is to bring together researchers and
practitioners from many of these diverse areas to engage in
stimulating dialogue regarding the fundamental principles, state of
the art, and critical challenges of self-adaptive and self-managing
systems. Specifically, we intend to focus on the software engineering
aspects, including the methods, architectures, algorithms, techniques,
and tools that can be used to support dynamic adaptive behavior that
includes self-adaptive, self-managing, self-healing, self-optimizing,
and self-configuring, and autonomic software.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
We are interested in submissions from both industry and academia on
all topics related to this important area. These include, but are not
limited to:
- formal notations for modeling and analyzing software self-adaptation
- programming language support for self-adaptation
- reuse support for self-adaptive systems (e.g., patterns, designs,
code, etc.)
- design and architectural support for the self-adaptation of software
- algorithms for software self-adaptation
- integration mechanisms for self-adaptive systems
- evaluation and assurance for self-* systems (e.g., run-time
verification)
- modeling and analysis of adaptive systems (e.g., run-time models,
cost-benefit analysis, architectural styles and patterns,
requirements)
- decision-making strategies for self-adaptive and self-organizing
systems
- support for run-time monitoring (for requirements, design,
performance, etc.)
- model problems and exemplars
The following application areas are of particular interest:
- mobile computing
- dependable computing
- autonomous robotics
- adaptable user interfaces
- service-oriented systems
- autonomic computing
PAPER SUBMISSION DETAILS
We are soliciting three types of papers: research papers and
experience reports (up to 10 pages, ACM SIG Proceedings Format) and
position papers for new ideas (up to 6 pages, ACM SIG Proceedings
Format). Research papers should clearly describe the technical
contribution and how the work has been validated. Experience reports
should describe how an existing technique has been applied to
real-world examples, including lessons learned from the
experience. New idea papers provide an opportunity to describe novel
and promising ideas and/or techniques that might not have been fully
validated. All submitted papers will be reviewed by at least three
program committee members. Papers must not have been previously
published or concurrently submitted elsewhere. The accepted papers
will appear in the symposium proceedings that will be published as ACM
conference proceedings.

----------------------------------------------------------
Papers on work that is currently under review, whether in shorter, longer, or the same form,
must not be submitted to MobiSys. Submission of a longer version of a published, not just
accepted, workshop paper is encouraged if it includes significant new contributions. However,
the authors must cite their workshop paper. Papers accompanied by nondisclosure agreement forms
are not acceptable and will be returned to the author(s) unread. As is customary with the
scientific peer review process, submissions will be handled as confidential material during the
review process.
*** Selected outstanding papers may be fast-tracked as a special section of IEEE
Transactions on Mobile Computing. ***
Submissions should be full papers, up to 14 single-spaced 8.5" x 11" pages, including figures,
tables, and references, in two-column format, using 10-point type on 12-point (single-spaced)
leading with 1" margins. Papers may use the standard ACM template, available at:
http://conferences.sigcomm.org/sigcomm/2009/sig-alternate-10pt.cls.
The first page of each paper should include the names and affiliations of the authors, i.e., the
submissions should not be anonymous. Submissions will be judged on originality, significance,
interest, clarity, relevance, and technical correctness. Papers may be conditionally accepted
and shepherded by a member of the program committee, with final acceptance determined by
consent of the shepherd. For more submission guidelines, please visit the conference website.

CFP: Springer MONET Journal - Special Issue on Future Internet for Green and
Pervasive Media
****************************************************************************

MONET: http://www.springer.com/engineering/signals/journal/11036
The promise of a truly pervasive experience is to have the freedom to roam
around anywhere and not be bound to a single location. However, the energy
required to keep mobile devices connected to the network over extended
periods of time quickly dissipates. In fact energy is a critical resource in
the design of wireless networks, since wireless devices are usually powered
by batteries and power consumption represents a major component of the
operator´s
network operational cost. There is added momentum for green radio to
globally reduce the electromagnetic radiation levels to have a better
coexistence of wireless system (less interference) as well as a reduced
human exposure to radiation leading to the so called Green Wireless
technologies. Hence, there is a clear need for disruptive strategies to
address all aspects of power efficiency from the user devices through to the
core infrastructure of the network and how these devices and equipment
interact with each other. This special issue envisions contributions
including different aspects on Future Internet for Green and Pervasive
Media. Some relevant topics include:
* Energy Efficient Radio Resource Management and Routing
* Cooperative Communications
* Cognitive Networks
* QoE Multimedia for Future Internet
* P2P Multimedia for autonomic wireless infrastructures.
* Network Coding
* Internet of things
* Cross-layer and cross-System optimization strategies for wireless
multimedia
* Short-Range Communications
* Resource and Mobility Management in Cooperative Network.
* Dynamic Resource Management and bandwidth assignment for multimedia in
heterogeneous wireless networks.
* IMS for multimedia services in next generation networks.
* 3D Video Coding
* Context-aware networks and network-aware content
