Call for Posters and Demos
The Twenty-fourth International Workshop on Mobile Computing Systems and
Applications (ACM HotMobile 2023)
Sponsored by ACM SIGMOBILE
February 22-23, 2023
Orange County, California
ACM HotMobile 2023, the Twenty-fourth International Workshop on Mobile
Computing Systems and Applications continues the series of highly
selective, interactive workshops focused on mobile applications, systems,
and environments, as well as their underlying state-of-the-art
technologies. HotMobile's small workshop format makes it ideal for
presenting and discussing new directions or controversial approaches.
HotMobile seeks proposals for posters and live demonstrations describing
novel work on mobile systems, applications, and services. Posters and
demonstrations will be presented during a reception at the workshop. The
poster/demo session is meant to introduce new or ongoing work and provide
opportunities for authors to interact directly with workshop attendees.
Posters are well suited to controversial work that can generate discussion
or promising new ideas which have not been thoroughly evaluated. Live demos
provide an opportunity to demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of
your research.
Accepted posters and demos will be published in the proceedings. This
year's poster/ demo session will feature a Best Poster/Demo award.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions must include an extended abstract no longer than one
8.5x11-inch page, including all figures and references. The poster/demo
should be uploaded to this HotCRP
site<https://hotmobile23postersdemos.hotcrp.com/>.
More details on the submission process. Please set up your page to be US
letter size, 8.5x11 inches, two columns, using 10-pt font size for the text
body, at least one-inch margin on all sides. Submissions must be in Adobe
PDF format. Please include the title of the poster/demo and the author
list, including affiliations in both the PDF file and in the body of the
email. Please prefix your title with “Poster:” for a poster submission and
“Demo:” for a demo submission. Please do not anonymize your submissions.
The accepted posters and demos will need to submit a one-page version using
9-pt font size, which will provide more space for authors to accommodate
reviewer feedback.
For the demo submission, it is also encouraged to submit an optional
companion video that illustrates the demo. The companion video should
highlight the technical contributions of the demo and should be no more
than one minute in length. Please include the YouTube URL of the companion
video in the extended abstract.

Betreff: CPS-IoTBench 2023: Call for Papers and for Reproducibility Studies
Datum: Wed, 4 Jan 2023 10:36:30 +0000
Von: Michael Baddeley <Michael.Baddeley(a)tii.ae>
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 6th Workshop on Benchmarking Cyber-Physical Systems and Internet of Things
(CPS-IoTBench 2023) -- https://www.iotbench.ethz.ch/cps-iotbench-2023/
Co-located with CPS-IoT Week -- May 9, 2023
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Over the last decade, research on Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and Internet
of Things (IoT) has led to smart systems at different scales and
environments, from smart homes to smart cities and smart factories. Despite
many successes, it is difficult to measure and compare the utility of these
results due to a lack of standard evaluation criteria and methodologies.
This problem inhibits evaluation against the state-of-the-art, the
comparability of different integrated designs (e.g., control and
networking), and the applicability of tested scenarios to present and
future real-world cyber-physical applications and deployments. This state
of affairs is alarming, as it significantly hinders further progress in CPS
and IoT systems research.
The Workshop on Benchmarking Cyber-Physical Systems and Internet of Things
(CPS-IoTBench) brings together researchers from the different
sub-communities of CPS-IoT Week to engage in a lively debate on all facets
of rigorously evaluating and comparing experimental results on
cyber-physical networks and systems.
*Following the success of last year, we once again will have a special
session on the benchmarking and reproducibility of AI and machine learning
techniques in CPS and IoT systems.*
For the workshop's 6th edition, we invite researchers and practitioners
from academia and industry to submit papers (up to 6 pages, double-column)
focusing on one of the following topics:
- Identify fundamental challenges and open questions in CPS and IoT systems
through rigorous benchmarking and evaluation.
- Expose key issues (or support current practice!) on the application and
reproducibility of AI and machine learning techniques in CPS and IoT systems.
- Report on success stories or failures with using standard evaluation
criteria.
- Present example benchmark systems and approaches from any of the relevant
communities (embedded systems, networking, low-power wireless, control,
robotics, machine learning, etc.).
- Propose new research directions, methodologies, or tools to increase the
level of reproducibility and comparability of evaluation results.
- Report on examples of best practices in different CPS-IoT sub-communities
towards achieving the repeatability of results.
- Present models to capture and compare the properties of algorithms and
systems.
Well-reasoned arguments or preliminary evaluations are sufficient to
support a paper’s claims.
Unique to this workshop, we also seek reports describing the reproduction
of experimental results from published papers within any of the relevant
communities (embedded systems, networking, AI and machine learning,
low-power wireless, control, robotics, etc.). Examples of this include:
- Reproducibility studies of a given scientific paper or article.
- Evaluations carried out by researchers or industry practitioners looking
to validate another piece of work before comparing their own to it.
- Reproducibility studies of a given scientific work for which some key
aspect(s) in the experimental setup was unspecified, showing the different
spectrum of solutions as a function of such aspect(s).
Such reports can be submitted using up to 6 pages, double-column format and
should carefully describe the experimental setup as well as how the authors
made sure to carefully reproduce the same conditions as in the original
study. Regardless of the study results, the tone of the report will be
constructive and not offensive with respect to the original authors.
Prospect authors are invited to contact the original authors of the
examined study and let them provide a short rebuttal paragraph that can be
included in the final section within the report.
*** Submission instructions ***
Submitted papers must contain at most 6 pages (US letter, 9pt font size,
double-column format, following the ACM master article template), including
all figures, tables, and references. All submissions must be written in
English and should contain the authors' names, affiliations, and contact
information. Accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library
as part of the CPS-IoT Week 2023 proceedings. Authors of accepted papers
are expected to present their work in a plenary session as part of the main
workshop program.
The submission website is available at https://cps-iotbench2023.hotcrp.com/.
*** Important dates ***
Paper submission: February 1, 2023
Notification of acceptance: March 1, 2023
Camera-ready: March 15, 2023

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to submit your latest research to the IEEE
Network Magazine Special Issue on “Connected and Autonomous Vehicles”.
Please kindly find the details of the call for papers with the following

=======================================================
CFP: IEEE Network Special Issue on Connected and Autonomous Vehicles
=======================================================
Rapid advances in sensing, communication, networking, and computing
technologies have triggered emerging concepts, such as the Connected and
Autonomous Vehicles (CAV). In the paradigm of CAV, vehicles in the future
can efficiently monitor their internal health conditions through plenty of
onboard units to enhance transportation safety. In addition, the vehicles
will become more intelligent and capable of fully autonomous driving to
improve the user experience dramatically. Moreover, they can form
distributed mobile networks for information exchange among
vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), and
vehicle-to-human (V2H), in which traffic efficiency will be increased
significantly toward innovative and sustainable transportation. However,
realizing such a blueprint is not trivial because several challenges are
facing at current. Among them, efficient network connectivity and
network-level autonomy are two fundamental issues.
From the perspective of efficient network connectivity, frequent topology
changes due to high mobility in vehicular networks often cause
communication failure. Moreover, the diversity of wireless communication
techniques has already been widely applied, and therefore it is needed to
connect these heterogeneous vehicles with different types of onboard units.
Lastly, vehicular networks are mission-critical that require high
reliability, and low delay for both simple information and multimedia
streaming (e.g., image, voice, and video) transmission, especially in harsh
wireless interference, and complex geographical environments.
On the other hand, network-level autonomous vehicles must enhance the
intelligence of each vehicle and the cooperation and interaction between
vehicles, humans, and even the elements in CAV. All objects are expected to
be “active” and intelligent to fill these gaps.
Emerging technologies developed in recent years provide potential
opportunities to address the above challenges. Therefore, the Special Issue
aims to publish original research and state-of-the-art articles that
explore emerging information and communications technologies for connected
and autonomous vehicles. The topics include, but are not limited to, the
following:
l Cooperative perception and collaborative operation of CAVs
l Edge computing for connected and autonomous vehicles
l Cooperative resource allocation and scheduling
l Autonomous freight transportation and drone delivery
l Machine learning for connected and autonomous vehicles
l Networking protocols for connected and autonomous vehicles
l Development, testing, and validation of connected and autonomous vehicles

** Call for Papers/Posters/Demos **
ACM 1st Workshop on Mobile and Optical Wireless Experiments and Systems (MOWES)
9 June, 2023
San Antonio, TX, USA
(in conjunction with CPS-IoT Week)
** Scope and Motivation **
A key lesson from the decades of radio frequency (RF) wireless and
networking research has been the need for development and experimentation
on testbeds at different scales. The recently introduced NSF PAWR program
is a testament to the continual need to build wireless testbeds at scale
and evaluate wireless technologies to advance them to the next generation.
The key drivers for advancing the legacy sub-6 GHz wireless technologies
are extensive mobility-focused experiments and testbeds, e.g., channel
characterization in realistic settings, mobility experiments at large
scales, integration with existing infrastructure, and living-labs. Mobile
wireless systems face new design challenges with the emergence of
technologies utilizing bands beyond the legacy sub-6 GHz bands, such as
visible light communication using solid-state lighting, infrared indoor or
inter-satellite optical wireless communication, and mmWave phased array
antennas. Experimental research to explore these new design challenges is
crucial to advancing the state-of-the-art in mobile communication and
networking, and a key requirement for advancing such wireless technologies
is the ability to extensively test and validate the technology under
different conditions. Mobile wireless systems can thrive and technology
transfer to industry is possible only if the technology can past-muster
extensive experimentation and testing.
The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum to bring together
researchers and design experts to share, discuss and brainstorm
experimental and systems research ideas in mobile wireless and optical
wireless communication and networking. The workshop aims to provide a
launchpad for bold and visionary ideas for applications and systems
research in this space. Areas of particular interest are experimental
mobile wireless research across all applicable spectrum bands
(acoustic/radio/optical) and hardware prototypes and testbed infrastructure
in optical wireless communication and networking. The workshop solicits
original contributions in, but not limited to, the following broad areas:
RF mobile wireless communication and networking
Acoustic mobile wireless communication and networking
UV/visible/IR optical wireless communication and networking
Metamaterials for mobile wireless communication and networking
TeraHertz communication communication and networking
Transmission and emission technologies
Reception technologies
Camera or visual communication Machine learning for mobile wireless
communication and networking
MEMS and semiconductors for mobile wireless communication and networking
Underwater communication and networking
Wireless experimentation research and/or teaching kits
Living-lab wireless experiments or testbeds
Wireless data collection efforts

Call for Papers
The Internet has successfully connected people across the globe, allowing
for sharing of information and enabling individuals to collaborate.
However, the Internet, optimized for consuming content with high bitrates,
cannot guarantee low-latency communications. Tactile Internet (TI) can help
build a more connected society by providing previously unavailable
solutions in various domains, e.g., communication, the fusion of data, and
computation, allowing for perceived real-time interaction between humans
and robots. The TI can enhance social interaction in various environments,
such as industrial robotics, healthcare, autonomous driving, etc. To
achieve this goal, research communities need to solve several challenges,
from the physical layer and radio communication to networking, and
infrastructure to orchestrating and controlling (communication) resources
of networks. With the "Tactile Internet for a cyber-physical continuum"
Special Issue (SI), we aim to present the latest advances i
n networked systems in a wide range of contexts with the shared scope to
enhance social interaction and build a more connected society.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
• Next-gen communications and networking infrastructure for Tactile
Internet
• Hardware and physical layer design for ultra-low latency
• Wireless/Radio Access (protocols, resource management)
• Adaptive wireless networking and visible light communications
• Wireless-based sensing with applications in the IoT and
Cyber-Physical Systems
• Softwarization in Communication Networks (low-latency networking,
flexibility-reliability tradeoffs, softwarized mobile core networks, and
virtualized RANs)
• Computing in Communication Networks (architectures, transport layer
design, storage networks, programmable data plane architectures, and platforms)
• In-band Network Telemetry (INT), congestion control, and network slicing
• Network and cloud design (architecture and edge-cloud reliability)
• Intelligent networking and machine learning-based solutions for
5G-and-beyond
• Edge-AI and expressive data stream processing
• Security and Privacy in programmable and softwarized networks
• Age of Information and Data Semantics for Sensing
• Communication and control co-design
Submission Guidelines
Manuscripts should conform to the standard format as indicated in the
“Information for Authors” section of the Paper Submission Guidelines. All
manuscripts to be considered for publication must be submitted by the
deadline through Manuscript Central. Select “September 2023/Tactile
Internet” from the drop-down menu of Topic titles.
Important Dates
Manuscript Submission Deadline: 15 April 2023
Initial Decision Notification: 1 June 2023
Revised Manuscript Due: 1 July 2023
Final Decision Notification: 15 July 2023
