Our Sincere apologies if you receive multiple copies of this Call
The Second International Workshop on Mobile Opportunistic Networking
ACM/SIGMOBILE MobiOpp 2010, February 22-23, 2010, PISA ITALY
*Call for Extended Abstracts*
*Submission Deadline Extended to December 14, 2009*
*Doctoral Forum
*The first Doctoral Forum on Opportunistic Networking will be hosted at
Second
International Workshop on Mobile Opportunistic Networking (MobiOpp2010).
Doctoral students working in areas related to opportunistic networking and
computing are solicited to submit an extended abstract comprising a
summary of
their research findings, work in progress and planned research. The
forum will
be a platform for Phd students to interact both with their peers as well as
experienced researchers from industry. The forum will be organized as a
poster
session preceded by a '1-minute madness' introduction by each student.
Current Ph.D. students, as well as researchers who have completed their
Ph.D.
dissertations since May 2009, are encouraged to submit extended
abstracts. The
Ph.D. student should be the sole author, although contributions of the
advisor
and others may be acknowledged in the extended abstract. Submissions will be
reviewed to ensure quality and relevance. Authors of accepted
submissions are
expected to travel to MobiOpp 2010 to present their poster at the Doctoral
Forum. The best presentation at the Forum, will receive an award
sponsored by
Elsevier Publications and there is likely to be travel assistance for some
students. Accepted extended abstracts will appear in conference proceedings.
*Extended Abstract Submission*: Ph.D. students are invited to submit
two-page
extended abstracts that describe current research and potential
contributions
to theory and innovation in pervasive computing and communications.
Submissions
must be received by no later than December 14, 2009. Extended abstracts
should
include the author's name, affiliation, and email address. Submissions
must be
PDF files and be written in English. Submissions should be no more than two
pages in length (all inclusive) and adhere to the ACM format.
Papers must be submitted via email to doctoral.forum(a)cnr.iit.it

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wireless vehicular communications has been identified as a key
technology for increasing road safety and transport efficiency, and
providing Internet access on the move to ensure wireless ubiquitous
connectivity. The potential of this technology has been acknowledged
with the establishment of ambitious research programs worldwide in
Europe, US and Asia.
The IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) currently covers through its
areas of interest (Mobile Radio, Transportation Systems and Automotive
Electronics) all technical aspects needed to make wireless vehicular
communications a reality. As a result, the IEEE VTS society decided to
establish a technical symposium on wireless vehicular communications
co-located with the reputed IEEE VTC conferences.
The IEEE International Symposium on Wireless Vehicular Communications
(WiVeC) will cover all vehicular wireless communications aspects of
Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) and
Vehicle-to-Person (V2P) communications, including implications on
transport efficiency and safety, implications on automotive electronics,
liability issues, standardizations efforts and spectrum assignment.
After the successful first and second WiVeC editions in 2007 and 2008,
the third IEEE WiVeC symposium will be co-located with the 71th IEEE
Vehicular Technology Conference 2010 Spring conference, and will take
place at the Grand Hotel in Taipei on the 16th and 17th of May 2010.
Combined registrations packages will be offered for WiVeC and VTC events.
All accepted papers (full length and demo papers) will be included in
the VTC 2010-Spring conference proceedings and will be published on the
IEEE Xplore database.
Note: VTC Fall editions are traditionally located in North America,
while VTC Spring is located in other areas of the world. Since WiVeC was
originally launched co-located with VTC Fall editions, the IEEE
Vehicular Technology Society decided that WiVeC would take place every
year and a half in order to ensure that the conference is alternatively
co-located with VTC Fall and Spring editions. This resulted in that
there was no WiVeC edition in 2009.
Topics of interest
------------------
The WiVec Symposium seeks original papers - not published or currently
under review for another workshop, conference, or journal - in the area
of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), and
vehicle-to-person (V2P) wireless communications. Vehicular communication
areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
* RF technologies, antenna design, physical layer and propagation models.
* Radio resource management and interference management.
* Spectrum assignment and EMC regulations.
* Architecture, networking protocols (including ad-hoc, routing, data
dissemination, etc) and their evalutation.
* QoS and cross-layer optimization design.
* Communications systems and technologies.
* Testbeds and simulation platforms.
* Interworking with sensor network technologies.
* In-car electronics and embedded integration of wireless vehicular
communications.
* Roadside infrastructure.
* Mobility management, mobility and vehicle traffic models.
* Digital maps and location technologies.
* Decision and control issues.
* Human-Machine Interface.
* Applications (Ecall, toll collection, traffic information, wireless
diagnosis etc.).
* Security, liability and privacy.
* Standards development, business models, policies (e.g., Cooperative
aspects of vehicular communication).

Journal of Computer Systems, Networks, and Communications
Special Issue on Lightweight Mobile and Wireless Systems: Technologies,
Architectures and Services
*******************************************************************
Call for Papers
Wireless communications are becoming increasingly pervasive, as the number
and diffusion of portable wireless-equipped devices is exponentially
increasing (ranging from cellular phones to handheld game consoles, from
personal digital assistant and personal navigation devices to still and
video cameras). This results into an unprecedented request for lightweight,
wireless communication devices with high usability and performance able to
support added-value services in a highly mobile environment - following the
user everywhere he goes (at work, at home, while traveling, in a classroom,
etc.). This scenario clearly demands significant upgrades to the existing
communication paradigm in terms of infrastructure, devices and services to
support the ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANY DEVICE philosophy.
This Special Issue aims to publish high quality research papers relating to
Mobile Lightweight Wireless Systems. Researchers working in these areas
worldwide are invited to contribute original and unpublished papers for
consideration in this Special Issue. Topics of interest include, but are not
limited to:
. Wireless communication systems (IEEE 802.11x, WiMAX, IEEE 802.15,
Personal Area Networks, Bluetooth, wireless USB, HiperLAN2)
. Cellular Networks (2.5G, 3G, 3G LTE, LTE-A)
. Ultra Wide Band
. Next Generation Networks
. Next generation lightweight devices (smart phones, PDAs)
. Available and emerging solutions for lightweight systems
. Internetworking and interoperability
. Protocol stack design (layering, cross-layering)
. Performance evaluation and optimization
. Service-Oriented architectures
. Cognitive radios and networks
. Seamless roaming
. Voice and Voice over IP
. Location services
. Emerging and next generation services
. Service provisioning
. Value-Added services
. Users' needs and requirements
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author
