IEEE Transaction on Network Science and Engineering, Special Issue on
"Advanced Networking Technologies in the Battle Against the Outbreak of
Epidemic Diseases".
Deadline: 1 August 2020
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
At present, COVID-19 is a major global public health challenge. Worse, this
epidemic could last for 2 years, according to US experts. To address it,
scientific research institutions attempt to actively leveraged networking
technologies to fight the epidemic disease, which have effectively improved
the efficiency of epidemic monitoring, virus tracking, prevention, control
and treatment, and resource allocation. For example, in order to make full
use of the resources of medical experts, the remote consultation system,
supporting live-streaming video and telemedicine by 5G, cloud computing,
blockchain and other networking-related technologies, has been quickly
implemented in many hospitals all over the word.
Although networking technologies have played an important role in the
epidemic prevention and control, new challenges arise when billions of
people around the world have been ordered to stay at home to help curb the
epidemic disease. As the virus spread, the networking demand for HD video
conferencing and online teaching has skyrocketed. Moreover, many streaming
services — like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube, have reduced the
quality of their streams to reduce strain on the Internet. Therefore, more
advanced networking technologies should be deeply investigated and
implemented to help us with fighting COVID-19.
This special issue aims to explore recent advances and disseminate
state-of-the-art research on advanced networking technologies for epidemic
monitoring, virus tracking, prevention, control and treatment, and resource
allocation. The topics of interest for this special issue include, but are
not limited to:
- Advanced networking technologies in public health management
- Advanced networking technologies for telemedicine, remote diagnosis
and treatment
- Cloud-based/Edge-based networking services for online working and
learning
- Stable heterogeneous networking access for medical information
transmission
- Edge/mobile computing for detecting and tracking infections
- Mobility-aware networking services and applications for epidemic
monitoring, prevention and control
- Crowdsourcing-based approaches for virus testing and research
- Soft caching, proactive caching and other approaches for
content-orient networking services
- Privacy and security of the medical information transmission
The papers for rigorous and well-coordinated peer-review process will be
collected through the Manuscript Central System

IEEE GLOBECOM 2020 Workshop on V2X Technologies and Advanced
Security/Privacy (V2X&ASP)

Unlike existing driving and transportation frameworks, new paradigm shifts
and vertical technological revolution in vehicular services have emerged
toward unmanned driving, automated transportation, and connected and
autonomous vehicles (CAV). In addition to equipping with advanced
environmental sensing/reasoning apparatuses (e.g., high definition (HD)
cameras, three-divisional (3D) panorama videos, point-cloud scanners, or
light detection and ranging (LiDAR) scanners) to facilitate autonomous
driving, the next-generation driving vehicles may also rely on mobile
network infrastructures to achieve ubiquitous and prompt information
exchanges. For example, all-optical indicators (such as turn signals and
brake light on a vehicle, and traffic lights on intersections) may be
replaced by wireless signals through device-to-device (D2D) transmissions.
Vehicles may also exchange their perception data or maneuver plans with
other vehicles, or acquire information (such as 3D scenes at interactions)
from remote cloud servers or road-site units (RSUs) though mobile networks.
To align with this trend, 3GPP has released the service requirements to
sustain the next-generation vehicle-to-everything (V2X) applications in
June 2018, which include 28 use cases to involve advanced driving, remote
control, vehicle platooning and extended sensors. To support all these use
cases, the service requirements of V2X may include extremely high
throughput (for 3D panorama videos or point-cloud data), low latency
(maneuver data for platooning), high reliability (control signals for
remote driving), aperiodic transmissions (for emergency trajectory
alignment), and high connection density. Since August 2018, 3GPP has
launched the normative works of New Radio (NR) V2X and enhanced
ultra-reliable and low latency communication (eURLLC) in 3GPP Release 16.
To satisfy these unprecedented V2X requirements, several new features will
be introduced in both academic research and industrial practice, including
new system architecture of V2X (e.g., mobile edge computing, cloud/fog
networks, 3GPP local area data network, network slicing, software-defined
network, etc.), new radio access schemes (e.g., millimeter-wave access,
sidelink transmissions, URLLC, massive connections), harmonization among
various technologies (e.g., point-cloud compression, multi-view video, 3D
vision, environmental perception/cognition, machine learning and artificial
intelligent), and new designs for security. The Internet of Things
evolution has given birth to several new groundbreaking applications, such
as the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), smart cities, and cyber-physical systems
(CPS). The proliferation of IoV-based applications magnifies the importance
and irreplaceability of IoV. Considering the dynamic nature of entities in
the IoV, there are a series of challenges including security, privacy,
decentralization, trust management, and so on. For efficient decision
making, in IoVs, we use Vehicle to Vehicle/Others (V2V/V2X) communication
to complement on-board sensor inputs and provide better services. A key
concern when relying on sensor data is vulnerable to data. Malicious actors
tend to inject false data or alter communication among normal vehicles.
The objective of this workshop is to bring together state-of-the-art
innovations, research activities (both in academia and industry), and the
corresponding standardization impacts of V2X for the next generation
driving paradigm, to understand the inspirations, requirements, and the
promising technical options to boost and enrich activities in the area of
V2X. This workshop will also provide a forum for exchanging ideas and
networking experts/researchers/engineers/students involved in the emerging
field of V2X. We want to collate and publish consolidated research results
focusing on analyzing security and privacy threats, applying cutting-edge
technologies to provide secure and privacy-preserving communications in the
relevant fields. Papers may present advances in the theory, design,
implementation, analysis, verification, or empirical evaluation and
measurement of the area.
Topics of interest (include but not limited to)
- Machine learning, artificial intelligence, cognition, and optimization
technologies for V2X and CAV
- Security issues and designs for V2X and CAV

IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine - Call for Articles for a Special Issue
Security, Trust and Privacy Solutions for Intelligent Internet of
Vehicular Things (IIoVT)
The Internet of Things evolution have given birth to several new
groundbreaking applications, such as Internet of Vehicles, smart cities,
and cyber physical systems. In Internet of Vehicles (IoV), the vehicles
include various smart devices to obtain and communicate information from
surroundings. This information can be helpful in safe navigation,
detecting hurdles, optimizing routes, and in traffic management. For
efficient decision making, in IoVs, V2V and V2X communication have been
used to compliment on-board sensors inputs and provide better services.
A key concern when relying on vehicle data is vulnerability to data.
Therefore, the need is to discuss the solutions that provide Security,
Trust and Privacy (STP) to both communicating entities and secure
vehicle data from malicious entities. Use of Artificial Intelligence
(AI) in multidimensional makes them useful for Internet of Vehicular
Things. An Intelligent IoVT (IIoVT) gives the desired results in the
given time constraints with less human efforts. The goal of this Special
Issue is to provide a platform for engineers, researchers, industrial
experts and other stakeholders to appraise recent developments in the
field and address related challenges in IIoVT. Contributions related to
the practical, theoretical and engineering aspects of developing and
deploying IIoVT are welcome on any applications of interest for the
domain of CE. Articles pertaining ongoing technical developments,
practical applications and use cases, user studies and evaluations,
standardization efforts, current and future trend analysis, as well as
next-generation technologies are welcome. Technical articles should be
of general interest to an engineering audience and of broader scope than
archival journal/transaction and conference papers.
Topics of interest for this Special Issue include, but are not limited
to the following:
• Efficient secure data dissemination methods for IIoVT
• Context aware STP for IIoVT
• STP architecture for GPS system, UTM & UAV
• STP for resource-constrained IIoVT
• Sustainable STP for electric/hybrid vehicles
• (Un)Supervised ML based STP solutions for IIoVT
• NPU/CPU/GPU solutions for IIoVT
• Blockchain enabled STP solutions for IIoVT
• STP issues in SDN and NFV for IIoVT
• Intrusion detection technologies for IIoVT
• STP preserving V2X communications
• Secure routing in IIoVT
• Security framework of cloud based IIoVT
• QoS solutions for IIoVT
• Optimized AI techniques for IIoVT
• Open Dataset for IIoVT

CALL FOR DEMOS AND POSTERS
WiNTECH continues its established tradition of hosting a demos and posters
session. We welcome proposals for demonstrations of novel work in wireless
network testbeds, measurement platforms and results, and innovative
prototypes. The areas of interest overlap those listed in the workshop Call
for Papers. The innovations showcased can be at any layer of the protocol
stack, from physical to application. However, we particularly encourage
demonstrations and posters that span over multiple layers. Wireless
networking must be the key topic. Posters may describe work in progress,
while the session will offer an excellent opportunity to receive feedback
and discuss early research. We emphasize that the demos and posters session
is not a forum to display commercial products.
As the workshop this year will happen virtually (online only) authors of
accepted demos and posters will be requested to submit a video of their
work that will be posted to the public on the workshop website.
Each submission must be a single PDF file no longer than two pages in
length (including figures, tables, and references), using two-column
format, 10-point size or greater and in PDF format following the same
formatting
guidelines <https://www.sigmobile.org/mobicom/2019/cfp.php> as the main
conference. Submissions must include the author name and affiliation. All
poster titles should begin with the keyword "Poster:" and all demo titles
should start with "Demo:". Papers must include the authors’ name and

Call For Papers
Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing (PMC) Journal:
Special Issue on "Pervasive Mobile Energy Sharing"
https://www.journals.elsevier.com/pervasive-and-mobile-computing/call-for-p…
======================================================================
Energy is a scarce resource in any pervasive mobile and wireless networks
that consist of devices/vehicles mainly powered by their batteries.
Providing energy ubiquitously to these devices for making them functional
for a long time is a challenging task. With recent advances in energy
sharing technologies through both wired and wireless mediums (wireless
power transfer – WPT), it is possible to extend the lifetime of such
networks by utilizing energy from other energy sources (e.g., chargers,
other mobile agents) within the network. Such pervasive energy sharing
models become particularly important for emerging use cases on circular
economy paradigms, such as smart climate-neutral cities or clean connected
mobility, where valuable resources including energy need to be administered
in optimal manners. Energy sharing can be considered for various types of
pervasive mobile agents ranging from low-power devices such as sensors and
Internet of Things (IoT) devices to moderate and high-power ones such as
smartphones, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and electric vehicles (EVs).
However, depending on the networking scenario as well as the form of energy
sharing, different challenges need to be addressed under different
optimization goals. This special issue invites technical papers that will
address these challenges in pervasive mobile energy sharing in various
network domains.
The special issue will span the topics including but are not limited to:
- Charger scheduling and placement in wirelessly rechargeable sensor
networks

- Cooperative energy management and storage in pervasive mobile networks
- Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) mobile energy sharing and trading
- Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) mobile energy sharing (for Electric Vehicles)
- Ubiquitous dynamic wireless charging of EVs
- Pervasive energy sharing and management in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)
networks
- UAV-assisted wirelessly powered networks and systems
- Near and far-field wireless power transfer for Internet-of-Things (IoT)
Networks
- Energy harvesting and sharing for pervasive mobile devices
- New models for distributed pervasive batteryless sensing and computation
- Energy sharing solutions for green cellular networks
- Hybrid mobile energy sharing networks
- Privacy and security issues in pervasive mobile energy sharing
- Software/hardware solutions for energy sharing among peers
- Energy trading and economy models among peers
- Incentive models for energy sharing and smart energy pricing
- SWIPT solutions for pervasive energy sharing
- Pervasive energy sharing in wearable computing
- Pervasive energy sharing in smart micro-grids

Notification Date: July 30th, 2020
Session Chairs:
Dr. Anna Maria Vegni - Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy
Dr. Francisco Martínez - University of Zaragoz, Spain
Goals of the Session:
Nowadays, huge volumes of traffic data are available from various
sensors - and this special session focuses on the development of
simulations of transportation that take advantage of this data to
capture the complex nature of urban mobility. City planners and traffic
operators could use these simulations to explore transportation what-if
scenarios, e.g., investment in a new motorway. Driver-level simulation
(microscopic) has been shown to be the most accurate approach; however,
it is considered too computationally expensive to be deployed in
Intelligent Transportation products. Macroscopic simulations on the
other hand take into account spatial density and velocity on road
segments, and use various flow management methods to propagate the load
of vehicles to the next segments. The simplicity of the macroscopic
models makes it less expensive in term of processing power required than
more complex simulation models. However, they are not as accurate as
microscopic simulation models. This special session will explore new
advances in these two models (as well as hybrid models) of traffic
simulation. We are looking for contributions that describe novel
techniques, new applications, interesting applications etc.
List of Topics:
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Microscopic and macroscopic models;
• Discrete and Continuous models;
