smiFreeData and BITS

I think there is an error in the function smiFreeData in lib/data.c. For a MIB of mine, smidump had a segmentation fault there, while the memory was being freed on exit. The code is: if (objectPtr->typePtr) { if ((objectPtr->typePtr->export.basetype == SMI_BASETYPE_OCTETSTRING || objectPtr->typePtr->export.basetype == SMI_BASETYPE_BITS)) { smiFree(objectPtr->export.value.value.ptr); It seems to be the case that for SMI_BASETYPE_OCTETSTRING, the contents is not a pointer, but an integer, and shouldn't be freed with smiFree. Then the correct code would be: if (objectPtr->typePtr) { if ((objectPtr->typePtr->export.basetype == SMI_BASETYPE_OCTETSTRING)) { smiFree(objectPtr->export.value.value.ptr);

Hi everyone -- In building libsmi for Win32, my very first hurdle is the absence of errormacros.h. It seems not to be included in the libsmi 0.4.5 zip file I downloaded the other day. Can some kind sould tell me where I can find this file? Win32 llibsmi intro doc

Hi folks -- I'm interested in Win32 libsmi. Because so few Win32 guys outside this group know anything about it; and those who do know are (like me) afraid of it, I decided to start writing a user guide for Win32 libsmi development. It's at http://www.pwilson.net/Win32HowTo.html I'd appreciate it if you libsmi experts could take a look and tell me if this is or is not the right approach to introducing libsmi to the wider Win32 audience that it deserves. On another note, I'm stuck in my own development of this package. I have a libsmi.dll that I got from Luis, but I need a libsmi.obj. And my obsessive personality inists that I need a real, formal Visual Studio project/solution. Yigal or someone else, can yu help me with this? Win32 app refuses to link with libsmi.a 0.4.5

Hello everyone -- I'm new to libsmi, so please be patient with my perhaps-naive questions. I'm a C-language agent developer. I wrote a Win32 app called SimpleNMS that I use for agent testing: http://www.pwilson.net/SimpleNMSUserGuide.html I had hoped to use Win32 libsmi.a 0.4.5 in this app to map numeric OIDs to MIB names. But I can't so far link SimpleNMS with libsmi under MS VC++6.0 or VS 2005: the linker complains that it can't find _alloca(). I haven't found an easy fix yet: VS deprecates _alloca(); yet I can't replace it because it's intrinsic. And I haven't dared to build libsmi under VS from scratch. So my questions: 1. Is there a libsmi.a around that has actually worked with MS dev tools? 2. I get the impression that most libsmi dev is going on under 'nix and that that Win32 libsmi is pretty much an orphan child. If that's true, I'd be glad to volunteer as a foster parent to help with Win32 development. Can I be useful to list subscribers and libsmi users? Thanks very much, folks. I appreciate your help.
