libsmi-0.3.0 cygwin/VC++ 6.0 sp5 $ smilint IPMS-MIB.my ... IPMS-MIB.my:1328: identifier `ipms_traps' must not contain an underscore IPMS-MIB.my:1329: `DisplayString' should start with a lower case letter Segmentation fault (core dumped) Also smiquery and smidump does crash! IPMS-MIB.my ... 1326 1327 ipmsTrapServiceStart TRAP-TYPE 1328 ENTERPRISE ipms_traps 1329 VARIABLES { DisplayString } 1330 DESCRIPTION 1331 "This trap is generated when a ipms service started" 1332 ::= 1 1333 ... I assumed that 1329 line cause smilint crashed. read-create access

Hi, I find that : for table columnar objects having read-create access, smilib returns SmiNode structure having the following two members as access=SMI_ACCESS_READ_WRITE create=0 where as I expected create=1 Due to this we incorrectly get the access as ReadWrite instead of ReadCreate for some objects having ReadCreate access. Can anybody explain the reason ? However, for table-entry object ( which is generally not-accessible, If I mention access as read-create, smilib returns expected correct values of ReadCreate) kr, abhay -- !! Error check not provided in libsmi.....

Hello, If a table element is declared as a particular type in the Entry and later declared as a different type in its declaration part, it is not given as an error by the libsmi tool. For example, PppGzipStatusEntry ::= SEQUENCE { pppGzipStatusIfIndex INTEGER, pppGzipStatusRxIfWindowSize INTEGER, pppGzipStatusTxIfDecompressedDataSize Counter32 } pppGzipStatusTxIfDecompressedDataSize OBJECT-TYPE SYNTAX INTEGER MAX-ACCESS read-only STATUS current DESCRIPTION "" ::= { pppGzipStatusEntry 3 } Here "pppGzipStatusTxIfDecompressedDataSize" is declared as Counter32 type in 'PppGzipStatusEntry' but later declared as INTEGER in its definition part. But not all these are necessarily valid for any given month (esp 31, and in February) So this month I could run SET thisMonthsSales.29 = 100000 SET thisMonthsSales.30 = 200000 SET thisMonthsSales.31 = 300000 quite happily. But trying the same thing during November - there is no November 31st, so the variable "thisMonthsSales.31" won't exist, and can't be created. (At least not given a good implementation!) But in different circumstances (e.g. December) the same variable *could* be created. Hence I'd expect this request to return "inconsistentName" during November. A more realistic example might be: SET printerOverallStatus.0 = down => OK SET printerQueue.queueStatus.1 = enabled => inconsistentName SET printerOverallStatus.0 = up => OK SET printerQueue.queueStatus.1 = enabled => OK i.e. I can only enable a particular queue when the printer system as a whole is up. If the whole of the printer system is down, then I can't enable individual bits of it. So whether a particular request works will depend on "other circumstances". Does that help any? Dave -- !!
