Failing build from subversion repository

I obtained a subversion copy of libsmi, and try to build it (on two machines), I get the following: gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -g -O2 -MT parser-smi.lo -MD -MP -MF .deps/parser-smi.Tpo -c parser-smi.c -o parser-smi.o >/dev/null 2>&1 make[2]: *** No rule to make target `parser-smi.tab.h', needed by `scanner-smi.c'. Access violation

Hello, I am using libsmi 0.4.3 for Windows with Visual Studio 2003. Whenever I want to load some MIBs I get an access violation in data.c at line 3792. I am taking the MIBs which are coming with libsmi. It occurs every time I want to load DOT12-RPTR-MIB. When this MIB is not used, it occurs after loading many others. Does anyone else has seen this problem? The code I am using is the following: smiInit(NULL); SmiNode *smiNewNode; char *module = smiLoadModule("DOT12-RPTR-MIB"); Is there something missing? Can MAX-ACCESS of all the columns in a table be not-accessible.?

Hi, Can a table have MAX-ACCESS of all the columns as not-accessible.? I have gone through SMIv2 RFC 2578. It says that a table must have atleast one non-index object. In case all the columns are indices, then one of the index columns must be read-only. I couldn't find whether the non-index column can be not-accessible, when all the index columns are also not-accessible. Also smidump compiler didn't give any error if compiled MIB has a table with all the (index and non-index) columns having MAX-ACCESS defined as not-accessible. Please help me in understanding this. Help regarding C64 Textual Conventiond defined in "Understanding SNMP MIBs - Perkins"

Hi all, I need your help in understanding the Counter64 representation as mentioned in "Understanding SNMP MIBs by DAVID PERKINS, page 51". The book quotes an example the BER serialization of value 56782 of type COUNTER 64 is '9f760300ddce'h. In the above example, value 9f76 is the value of the tag for Counter 64. 03 is the length of the value, and 00ddce is the hexadecimal representation of 56782. My question are 1. why is the length field is represented as 03 i.e. one byte, instead of 0003 (2 bytes is reserved for length in Opaque)? 2. To represent value of 56782 in hexadecimal it is enough if we represent by 'ddce'h. Why is it represented as '00ddce'h? Which is taking 3 bytes in length? 3. Can we use the following tag values for other 64bit data types? Counter64 9f76, Signed64 9f7A, Unsigned64 9f7B. Your clarifications towards understanding this C64 textual convention and data value representation in the Opaque stream will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mahesh

smidump -f xml is adding extra 0 to notifications to a SMIv1 mib

Hi, Please excuse me if this has been ask in the past, I did search the mailing list before writing this e-mail. My question is when I'm trying to convert a SMIv1 mib to xml, the notification oid adds an extra 0, I believe this should only be done, if you wan the resulting xml out in SMIv2 representation. I did look up the extra 0 thing (section 3 http://www.mibdepot.com/downloads/rfcs/rfc2576.txt ), it is is valid if you want to convert a MIB from SMIv1 to SMIv2. I'm trying to convert the following mib to xml http://www.baytech.net/downloads/gpm/bayuniv-4014.mib with the following command: smidump -f xml ../mibs/bayuniv-4014.mib -o ./xml/bayuniv-4014.xml header of xml: <module name="Baytech-MIB-401-4" language="SMIv1" /> the first trap: <notifications> <notification name="communicationLost" oid="1.3.6.1.4.1.4779.0.1" status="current"> <objects> <object module="Baytech-MIB-401-4" name="mtrapargsTimeTicks" /> </objects> <description>SEVERE: Communication to the unit has been lost. Steps to reestablish communication are in progress. Argument is timeTicks when communication was lost.</description> </notification> the oid should be: 1.3.6.1.4.1.4779.1 I know this mib has other issues, but for now, I would like to address this one. Has anyone build and installed libsmi 0.4.33 on solaris 8 ( 5/03 ) using ?? gcc 3.3.2 make 3.8 autoconf 2.59 This is in conjunction wiht deploying OpenNMS. I need libsmi to build the mib2opennms program. Yigal, Do you have a Visual Studio Project file which I could use? I found another guidance at http://www.bertnase.de/libsmi/. With the described changes it was possible for me to build the smi.lib but at least I got some errors for the .exe files, but I only need the smi.lib. Now, when I integrate smi.lib to my project, I get the following linker errors: LIBC.lib(crt0dat.obj) : error LNK2005: ___crtExitProcess already defined in libcmtd.lib(crt0dat.obj)LIBC.lib(crt0dat.obj) : error LNK2005: __cinit bereits already defined in libcmtd.lib(crt0dat.obj) .... When I make a new project I only get the following warning: LINK : warning LNK4098: defaultlib 'LIBC' conflicts with use of other libs; use /NODEFAULTLIB:library In the doku I can read that the two errors are most likely when multi-threaded and single-threaded libraries are linked. Hello, I tried to build libsmi 0.4.3 with MS Visual Studio 2003 but I got a fatal error C1083 that in "win.c, line 15" "stdio.h" cannot be found. Does anyone know how what's wrong? Thank's Mathias
