*******************************************************
IEEE/ACM DS-RT 2020
Special Session on Simulation of Urban Traffic Management and ITS
http://ds-rt.com/2020/soiits_2020
*******************************************************
Information:
Submission Deadline: June 25th, 2020
Notification Date: July 30th, 2020
Session Chairs:
Dr. Anna Maria Vegni - Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy
Dr. Francisco Martínez - University of Zaragoz, Spain
Goals of the Session:
Nowadays, huge volumes of traffic data are available from various sensors - and this special session focuses on the development of simulations of transportation that take advantage of this data to capture the complex nature of urban mobility. City planners and traffic operators could use these simulations to explore transportation what-if scenarios, e.g., investment in a new motorway. Driver-level simulation (microscopic) has been shown to be the most accurate approach; however, it is considered too computationally expensive to be deployed in Intelligent Transportation products. Macroscopic simulations on the other hand take into account spatial density and velocity on road segments, and use various flow management methods to propagate the load of vehicles to the next segments. The simplicity of the macroscopic models makes it less expensive in term of processing power required than more complex simulation models. However, they are not as accurate as microscopic simulation models. This special session will explore new advances in these two models (as well as hybrid models) of traffic simulation. We are looking for contributions that describe novel techniques, new applications, interesting applications etc.
List of Topics:
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Microscopic and macroscopic models;
• Discrete and Continuous models;
• Discrete and Continuous models;
• Traffic modeling and engineering;
• Mobility modeling and management;
• Automatic performance analysis;
• Measurement architectures and systems;
• Predictive performance models;
• Evaluation and Simulation tools;
• Validation through modeling and prototyping.
Paper Submission Guidelines:
Papers must be unpublished and must not be submitted for publication elsewhere. All papers will be reviewed by Technical Program Committee members and other experts active in the field to ensure high quality and relevance to the conference.
At least one author of accepted papers must attend the conference to present its contribution.
Papers should be written in English and should not exceed 10 pages, double column, IEEE style including tables and figures. Note that the regular paper size will be 8 pages, with the possibility to obtain up to 2 additional pages (total 10 pages) by paying a publication fee. A template for IEEE Proceedings style (LaTeX2e and MS Word) can be found at http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates. Only Postscript and PDF formats are accepted.
Papers must be submitted electronically through the EDAS system. The complete list of authors' names must be inserted when registering the paper on the EDAS system. Authors names can be inserted in the paper: that is, the review process is single blind. Scope and Motivation
Ad hoc networks are highly adaptive and self-organizing networks that do not rely on pre-existing communication infrastructure. Sensor and actuator networks consist of multiple devices that are usually sparsely distributed and need to operate in an autonomic and energy-efficient manner. These networks have been the focus of interest of both academia and industry during the past few years, given their large application scope both in the military and civilian fields, ranging from environmental monitoring, body area networks for healthcare, to vehicular networks for road safety, and support for communications in the battle field. This interest is ever increasing now, with the gamut and diversity of sensors, devices and systems that are being connected to the Internet of Things transforming the way we live and work and making for smart cities and smart industries. Important challenges that need to be addressed include spectrum allocation and technology coexistence, autonomy and self-healing capabilities, and security, to name just a few.
The Ad Hoc and Sensor Networking Symposium at GC 2020 aims at providing a forum for sharing ideas among researchers and practitioners working on the state-of-the-art solutions related to Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks. We are seeking papers that describe original and unpublished contributions addressing various aspects of the topics listed below (but not limited to).
Topics of interest for the AHSN Symposium include, but are not limited to:
- Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks and their Applications
- Protocols, architectures and applications for the Internet of Things
- Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Communications in Ad Hoc Networks
- Standardization for Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks

The ICNP’20 organizing committee hopes you and your beloved ones are fine
and safe in this undesirable situation.
ICNP, the IEEE International Conference on Network Protocols, is a premier
conference covering all aspects of network protocol research, including
design, analysis, specification, verification, implementation, and
performance. ICNP 2020 (https://icnp20.cs.ucr.edu) is scheduled to be held
in Madrid, Spain, from October 13 to October 16. You can download the ICNP
2020 conference poster in PDF or JPEG at
https://icnp20.cs.ucr.edu/conferenceposter.html
We are closely monitoring the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and its
impact on conferences and travel. We also recognize the legitimate
concerns of authors and participants regarding their own health and
safety. While we prefer to have an in-person conference to the maximum
extent possible, we will decide on a particular format for the conference
later based on information available closer to the conference dates.
Regardless of the eventual format for the conference, we will allow authors
to present their accepted work remotely.

Scope
The conference is soliciting the submission of papers with significant
research contributions to the field of network protocol research. Both
experimental results as well as formal investigations are equally welcome.
Topics traditionally of interest include, but are not limited to:
-
All aspects of network protocol research including design,
specification, verification, implementation, measurement, testing, and
analysis.
-
Protocols for wireless networks, cellular networks, software-defined
networks, data center networks, social networks, peer-to-peer networks,
sensor networks, vehicular networks, and Internet of Things.
-
Domain-specific solutions, including protocols for network security,
routing, user privacy, and network management.
-
Contributions to network architecture, e.g., specific algorithms and
protocols for network virtualization or future Internet architectures.
-
Contributions to other areas of data communications to the extent that
they articulate a strong connection to protocols, for example by
discussing
potential implications on the design or performance of certain types of
protocols.
Out-of-Scope
The "other areas of data communications" in the last bullet above should
not be interpreted as a "catch-all" category. ICNP’s focus is on networks
and their protocols, and while this encompasses a broad range of topics
including aspects of design, analysis, measurement, architecture, etc.,
papers need to articulate some relevance to networking and protocols. Those
that do not will be returned as out-of-scope. If you are in doubt as to
whether your paper is a fit for ICNP, please reach out to the Program
co-Chairs.
Formatting
Papers should adhere to the IEEE Conference formatting requirements using
the templates available here
<https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html>, and should
not exceed 10 pages excluding references. Your goal as an author is to
produce a readable submission that complies with the formatting
constraints. Violating the formatting requirements to squeeze in additional
material will result in your submission being returned without being
reviewed.
Plagiarism and Submission Policy
Papers must present original contributions and can neither be previously
published nor under review by another conference or journal. Papers
containing plagiarized material will be subject to the IEEE plagiarism
policy and possible penalties, and will be rejected without review.
Submissions and Anonymity
Papers submitted to the conference will be reviewed through a double-blind
review process, where the identities of the authors are withheld from the
reviewers (and that of the reviewers from the authors). Achieving this goal
requires some care to, on the one hand, preserve the anonymity of your
submission, while on the other hand ensuring proper coverage of related
past work, including your own. While this may seem challenging, the few
basic steps listed below will go a long way towards achieving the desired
outcome:
-
Remove all authors' identifiers, e.g., names, emails, and affiliations,
from the title page.
-
Remove acknowledgments to and identifiers of funding sources.
-
Use anonymous names for your files, as source file names are often
embedded in the final output you generate, and therefore accessible as
comments.
-
When referring to your own related work, refer to it in the third person
as you would with any other related work by another author.
Besides anonymizing your submission, double-blind reviewing also imposes
additional requirements on both authors and reviewers. Specifically, while
it is permissible for authors to give local talks on their work and release
their paper on a non-peer-reviewed location, e.g., and institutional
repository or even arXiv, care should be exercised to limit public exposure
as much as possible. This includes refraining from advertising the work on
mailing lists and public forums, and in general limiting as much as
possible the odds that program committee members be exposed to the work and
the authors’ identity. Conversely, program committee members will be
advised to neither actively seek to “reverse engineer” the authors’
identity, nor to directly share with other program committee members any
such information they may have acquired. All questions regarding possible
breaches of the anonymity covenant that underlies the double-blind review
process will be adjudicated by the Program co-Chairs.
Best Paper Award and Fast-Track Journal Publication
One of the accepted papers will be selected for a best paper award. Up to
two of the best papers from ICNP may be fast tracked in the IEEE/ACM
Transactions on Networking, with a streamlined journal review process.
Presentation and Registration Requirements
IEEE ICNP normally has a requirement that at least one of the authors of
any accepted paper must register for the conference at the full rate and be
available to present the paper at the conference. However, the current
circumstances are unusual and unpredictable and we take everyone’s health
very seriously. If we have a physical ICNP event in Madrid, we would
prefer if one of the authors attends to present the paper. However,
independent of the format of the conference, we will accommodate requests
by authors to present papers remotely, without physical attendance. The
publication of the paper in the conference proceedings and in IEEE Xplore
will not depend on attending the physical event in Madrid. However, any
paper that is not presented by an author of the paper, either physically
in-person or remotely, will be withdrawn from the proceedings and thus from
IEEE Xplore. At least one author from each accepted paper will be expected
to register in full whether presenting remotely or in person.
