Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing (PMC) Journal:
Special Issue on "Pervasive Mobile Energy Sharing"
https://www.journals.elsevier.com/pervasive-and-mobile-computing/call-for-p…
======================================================================
Energy is a scarce resource in any pervasive mobile and wireless networks
that consist of devices/vehicles mainly powered by their batteries.
Providing energy ubiquitously to these devices for making them functional
for a long time is a challenging task. With recent advances in energy
sharing technologies through both wired and wireless mediums (wireless
power transfer – WPT), it is possible to extend the lifetime of such
networks by utilizing energy from other energy sources (e.g., chargers,
other mobile agents) within the network. Such pervasive energy sharing
models become particularly important for emerging use cases on circular
economy paradigms, such as smart climate-neutral cities or clean connected
mobility, where valuable resources including energy need to be administered
in optimal manners. Energy sharing can be considered for various types of
pervasive mobile agents ranging from low-power devices such as sensors and
Internet of Things (IoT) devices to moderate and high-power ones such as
smartphones, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and electric vehicles (EVs).
However, depending on the networking scenario as well as the form of energy
sharing, different challenges need to be addressed under different
optimization goals. This special issue invites technical papers that will
address these challenges in pervasive mobile energy sharing in various
network domains.
The special issue will span the topics including but are not limited to:
- Charger scheduling and placement in wirelessly rechargeable sensor
networks
- Network-wide distributed energy management through energy sharing
- Large-scale energy sharing protocols and scheduling algorithms
- Crowd charging solutions for pervasive devices and vehicles
- Peer-to-peer (P2P) energy sharing in pervasive mobile networks
- Opportunistic energy sharing in Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN)
- Cooperative energy management and storage in pervasive mobile networks
- Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) mobile energy sharing and trading
- Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) mobile energy sharing (for Electric Vehicles)
- Ubiquitous dynamic wireless charging of EVs
- Pervasive energy sharing and management in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)
networks
- UAV-assisted wirelessly powered networks and systems
- Near and far-field wireless power transfer for Internet-of-Things (IoT)
Networks
- Energy harvesting and sharing for pervasive mobile devices
- New models for distributed pervasive batteryless sensing and computation
- Energy sharing solutions for green cellular networks
- Hybrid mobile energy sharing networks
- Privacy and security issues in pervasive mobile energy sharing

Notification Date: July 30th, 2020
Session Chairs:
Dr. Anna Maria Vegni - Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy
Dr. Francisco Martínez - University of Zaragoz, Spain
Goals of the Session:
Nowadays, huge volumes of traffic data are available from various
sensors - and this special session focuses on the development of
simulations of transportation that take advantage of this data to
capture the complex nature of urban mobility. City planners and traffic
operators could use these simulations to explore transportation what-if
scenarios, e.g., investment in a new motorway. Driver-level simulation
(microscopic) has been shown to be the most accurate approach; however,
it is considered too computationally expensive to be deployed in
Intelligent Transportation products. Macroscopic simulations on the
other hand take into account spatial density and velocity on road
segments, and use various flow management methods to propagate the load
of vehicles to the next segments. The simplicity of the macroscopic
models makes it less expensive in term of processing power required than
more complex simulation models. However, they are not as accurate as
microscopic simulation models. This special session will explore new
advances in these two models (as well as hybrid models) of traffic
simulation. We are looking for contributions that describe novel
techniques, new applications, interesting applications etc.
List of Topics:
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Microscopic and macroscopic models;
• Discrete and Continuous models;
• Discrete and Continuous models;
• Traffic modeling and engineering;
• Mobility modeling and management;
• Automatic performance analysis;
• Measurement architectures and systems;
• Predictive performance models;
• Evaluation and Simulation tools;
• Validation through modeling and prototyping.

The fourth edition of Cloud and Internet of Things 2020 (CIoT’20) will
be held from October 7 to October 9, 2020, in Niterói, Brazil. CIoT
provides a high-quality international academic and industrial exchange
forum for experts and scholars in the field of intelligent systems,
cloud computing and Internet of Things. CIoT’20 is a conference focusing
on the challenges of deploying cloud-based and Internet of Things
applications while considering the whole end-to-end architecture over
the sixth generation of mobile networks (6G) and next-generation data
center networking. The next generation of telecommunication networks is
expected to support a growing number of smart terminals, such as cell
phones and sensors, to provide real-time applications and to provide
intelligence and trust embedded in network infrastructure. To meet these
requirements, the 6G envisions the use of artificial intelligence,
cloud, and IoT applications. The 6G network will absorb the billions of
flows generated by things while considering the requested QoS and the
cohabitation of M2M, M2H and H2M flows. Then, the flows will be
processed in data centers and applications will exploit the extracted
knowledge.
Authors are invited to submit original contributions that have not been
published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Papers should be
prepared using the IEEE 2-column conference style and are limited to 8
pages (full papers). They have to be submitted electronically in PDF
format. Papers exceeding page limits, multiple submissions, and
self-plagiarized papers will be rejected without further review. All
other papers will sustain a thorough single-blind review process.
CIoT’20 will also hold an industrial track. The industrial track gathers
scholar and industrial participants in a venue for highlighting
practical and real-world studies and applications of cloud and IoT
technologies. This track aims to foster cooperation between participants
engaged in scientific research and practitioners working to improve the
development of new cloud and IoT applications. Each submission should
describe the problem addressed, the approach used, the current state of
the project, an evaluation of the benefits or lessons learned, and
future developments. Submissions may be short papers (4 pages).
The organizing committee (OC) is closely monitoring the development of
the COVID-19 situation that could impact paper submissions and in-person
attendance. In the case of travel restrictions, a partially or fully
virtual conference could become necessary and video/remote presentations
will be accepted. In addition, the OC is also considering remote
participation under all circumstances especially for accepted papers.

CALL FOR PAPERS
The Internet of Things (IoT) technology offers unprecedented
opportunities to interconnect human beings as well as Machine-to-Machine
(M2M), whereby sensors and networks allow all ‘things’ to communicate
directly with each other to share vital information allowing us to have
an instrumented universe where accurate data is readily available to
inform optimal decision making. The IoT is about to enable a range of
new capabilities and services far beyond today’s offerings. It will
fundamentally change how people go about their lives. According to
Gartner, the number of objects connected to the Internet is set to reach
20 billion by 2020. Cisco estimates the number will be close to 26
billion objects by 2020. Others believe the actual number will be even
higher with the assumption that any object with a simple micro
controller and on-off switch will be connected to the Internet in the
near feature. The scale of the IoT is set to have a major economic,
social and environmental impacts; the intersection of which forms the
future sustainable growth.
The international conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management
and Security (IoTSMS) aims at soliciting original ideas on the broad
area of IoT including challenges and opportunities, concepts and
